Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Sep 6, 2008 10:42 PM

Okay, so I was flipping through channels last night and stumbled across Smackdown. I saw some women wrestling and was hit with a theory. Entertain me, I think I'm right about this.

Basically, if you're a female wrestler in the WWE, you don't mean jack shit unless you have a last name.

Am I correct on this? Because I'm cruising the WWE.com roster right now and I'm realizing that the only "divas" I've ever heard of are the ones with last names. A cursory list includes:
  • Mickie James
  • Michelle McCool
  • Beth Phoenix
  • Molly Holly
  • Trish Stratus
  • Christy Hemme

I know there have been other successful women with single names, like Sable and Lita, but the trend favors last names, it seems.

Glancing over the upcoming PPV, I see that this Michelle McCool is facing someone named Maryse. Guess who's gonna win that fight? I bet they'll hand the belt over to that Katie Lea Burchill. She's got a last name, she must be important.

There are also a couple in ECW but my brother, who is a fan, insists that ECW doesn't really count for anything. Also, "Kelly Kelly" sure sounds like a joke name to me.

But really, am I onto something here?

Slash Sep 7, 2008 12:06 AM

Victoria, Lita, Ivory, Jacqueline, Sable, Jazz, Trinity, Melina

and heres one...

CHYNA

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Sep 7, 2008 12:37 AM

I've heard of Chyna, Lita and Sable, and that's mostly because they've appeared on supermarket tabloid covers. The rest are nobodies unless you're a real devotee of the craft.

Also, they're all no longer with the company, am I correct? I said it's a trend and you still haven't disproved me.

Slash Sep 7, 2008 12:44 AM

Well, I guess the other thing is, if I remember right, you did stop watching for a certain amount of time right?

-------------------ON ANOTHER NOTE----------------------

Lesnar is so fucked...

Lesnar vs. Couture...

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Sep 7, 2008 12:47 AM

I've never been a steady viewer in the first place. I sometimes watch if I'm really bored, or if my friend's wife is getting the PPV, but that's it. So most of my observations are as an outsider. Being detached from the shows might allow me to see things on a broader scope.

Slash Sep 7, 2008 01:08 AM

Well, most of the names I mentioned are from the Attitude Era so really it ended about 2002ish?

So yeah, I can see what you're saying about the WWE not caring unless you have a last name, but the WWE has also been going down the shitta too.

OH YEAH!!! Prediction time!

Expect to see there to be a feud between Hardy, MVP and Benjamin the following week, perhaps with Benjamin blaming MVP or Hardy for costing him another championship. Trips will most likely feud with Ezikel a bit

World Heavyweight Title Scramble
Entry Order
Batista and Punk(c), followed by Mysterio, followed by JBL, followed by Kane, who, upon entry, will be attacked by Mysterio over the ropes and thrown to the ground hard. Punk will most likely retain after JBL hits a Clothesline from Hell on Batista. A GTS by Punk on JBL will have Punk retain.
Expect Punk to retain till Orton returns because, lets face it, everyone else is too damn occupied. JBL and Kane will most likely battle Batista and Mysterio for a while as well

ECW Scramble
Entry Order
Matt Hardy and Miz, followed by Finlay, Chavito then Mark Henry. Expect Hornswoggle to come into the match, perhaps being used as a battering ram by Finlay and Hardy on Mark Henry. Winner...most likely Henry because there aren't really many contenders. If its not hardy, then it'll go to Hardy because I think Chavito will be on SD! more because of ECW and RAW doing their tapings the same day.
Expect...nothing cause ECW hasn't really shown any good promise since they've sidelined Dreamer

Womens Title
Maryse vs McCool (c) McCool retains landing her finishing move. The Divas title is a bit ZZZZ....and it'll most likely go to Gail Kim if she does indeed join up with WWE and goes to SD!

Unsanctioned Match
Jericho vs Michaels. Michaels is reaching the end of his career. I expect Jericho to win this one but they both get so brutalized that they go off TV for a few weeks. Michaels comes back at No Mercy and beats the shit out of Jericho and then there will be a match at Survivor Series between the two with Michaels losing that one after Jericho just destroys Michaels. Lance Cade wisens up, defends Michaels and then Jericho and Cade have their own thing.

Tag Team Titles
Rhodes and DiBiase vs Cryme Tyme. Cryme Tyme. its about time they actually deserve something and the whole crowd is always behind them. Cryme Tyme will "steal" the victory lol

You know...reading that I have to say, what the fuck is with this WWE PPV bullshit? I mean thats maybe an hour and a half worth of matches..maybe 2...What the fuck...what about the Tag titles on SD or the IC/Womens title?

SuperSonic Sep 7, 2008 10:33 AM

Predictions, eh? I'm game.

WWE Title Championship Scramble.
Entry Order
1. HHH (c)
2. Jeff Hardy
3. Kendrick
4. Benjamin
5. MVP

Hardy will score a pin, but ultimately Trips will score the final pin and retain his title.

World Heavyweight Title Scramble
Entry Order
1. JBL
2. Batista
3. Punk (c)
4. Kane
5. Mysterio

Expect everyone to score at least one pin here. We'll start with JBL scoring a pin, then Batista, then Kane, then Mysterio, then Punk will finish it out with the final pin and retain the title.

ECW Scramble
Entry Order
1. Matt Hardy
2. Miz
3. Chavo
4. Finlay
5. Mark Henry (c)

This is just doom for all competitors except Mark Henry. Nobody could do shit to the guy in that battle royal on Raw. Nobody will be able to pin Henry, but then again he doesn't have to be pinned to lose the title. So, let Hornswoggle distract Henry while Finlay pins the Miz in the final seconds to become the new ECW champion. Yeah, that won't happen but hey it's a prediction.

Diva's Title
Maryse vs McCool (c) Nobody gives a shit. Hornswoggle comes out and pins one of them, gets some boobie grabbing in the process, and changes it back to the Cruiserweight title.

Fine, McCool wins. I don't follow Smackdown so I'll go with Slash on this one.

Unsanctioned Match
Y2J vs HBK. The whole thing about HBK getting injured again just makes me sad. HBK will get his revenge and win here after his third Sweet Chin Music, but I'll agree with Slash in saying that these two won't return for a while.

Tag Team Titles
Rhodes and DiBiase vs Cryme Tyme. Cryme Time will win via DQ, but the titles will remain with Priceless.

At some point, expect Marella to come out and be like "I'm not a part of this PPV? I'm the Intercontinental champion!" Kofi comes out, challenges him there on the spot for the title and Kofi will win the title back.

Slash Sep 7, 2008 08:06 PM

Wow, WWE with a "surprise"

Unforgiven results:

Rhodes/DiBiase Retain. Don't expect this feud to end any time soon.

Hardy wins the ECW TITLE!!!

Don't know if this is accurate but on Wikipedia its saying Michaels Defeated Jericho by submission.

SuperSonic Sep 7, 2008 08:53 PM

Slash, I'm getting results from WWE.com.

Spoiler:
"HBK's attack proved so unrelenting, in fact, that the referee stopped the contest when Jericho could no longer defend himself."

Looks like this one isn't over yet. Wikipedia's been right so far. XD

Slash Sep 7, 2008 10:07 PM

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH

WWE has finally managed to pull something that I didn't see out of left field and I'm pretty sure no one else saw it either.

who gives a shit about the rest of the matches:

Trips retains, Big Show attacks Taker (huh?) McCool Retains.

BUT the biggest move WWE has made thus far granting my approval is....

World Championship Scramble:

Punk is attacked by Rhodes and DiBiase...

YOUR NEW...WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!!!
Spoiler:
CHRIS JERICHO!!!
Spoiler:
Well shit..whats going to happen between Jericho and HBK? HBK gonna stay sidelined for a while with the new injury from last week?

WTF?:
I guess WWE creative wanted Punk to be "injured" and taken out of the title match so that just tells you how much faith WWE has in Punk. But We'll probably be seeing, at Survivor Series-- Punk, Cryme Tyme and hmm..Kofi and (wildcard) against Orton, DiBiase, Rhodes, Santino and (wildcard) in a traditional match.

Honestly, thats the only thing I can see WWE creative doing that makes reasonable sense for long term...oh wait...WWE creative plans their storys out three days ahead.

SuperSonic Sep 7, 2008 10:26 PM

Spoiler:
That move makes absolutely NO SENSE whatsoever! Jericho beaten until he couldn't defend himself and then he manages to go and do THAT?! However, this could lead to HBK getting a title run one more time...and I'm all for that.

Spoiler:
I'm not for it...because that will definitely signify Michael's Last Hurrah. Of course if it led to him getting the title then having him battle trips in a winner take all kind of thing for Michael's last hurrah, then hells yes!

But I hate to say it but I think its time for Michaels to step out of the ring on a full time basis. His body just can't handle it anymore.

SuperSonic Sep 8, 2008 08:50 PM

LOL, I didn't think Charlie Haas' gimmick was working but tonight I just couldn't stop laughing.

dagget Sep 8, 2008 10:07 PM

Sad thing is I had an idea for this kind of gimmick a few years ago. Even tossed it around my buddies as my gimmick for their promotion. But that's the way it goes :|

I'm hoping for a Rock or Austin to eventually come up (Stone Cold Charlie Haas or The Charlec. Something like that heh)

Raw was very interesting. Looking forward to next week though. Why?
Spoiler:
Kane's old mask
of course the writers will fuck it up again and nothing will come of it.

Slash Sep 8, 2008 10:25 PM

MAMMA JUANA EXTREME.COM!

But honestly...Hass is getting pretty funny after being off TV for so long.

And now I'm wondering if they're trying to make Orton a Tweener. He's gonna have fans no matter what.

But the Mysterio/Bourne vs Miz/Morrison match.

That match was just Holy Shit! Should have been the Main Event because that was a good good good match. I honestly think the Miz and Morrison are on ECW, along with Bourne, Hardy and Finlay is to give it some real value. (And I don't consider Chavo to be on ECW because he's on SD more.

Slash Sep 15, 2008 09:16 PM

I'm loving Charlie's new thing he's got going on.

SuperSonic Sep 15, 2008 10:06 PM

And the challenger for the World Heavyweight Title is...

Spoiler:
YES! YES! FUCK YES! HBK gets a much deserved title shot! Fuckin A!

And the match is...

Spoiler:
LADDER MATCH!! YES!!!! Match of the year, confirmed! It almost makes me want to order the PPV. :D

This match will be huge. Honestly. I think this should be a WM Main event because Jericho and HBK can put on a VERY good show

mortis Sep 17, 2008 09:12 PM

Ouch, and the ratings plummet to 2.6ish this week.

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Sep 18, 2008 08:19 AM

Well, they obviously need more Jamie Noble storylines.

I'll agree with this. Moreso because I loved the Jamie Noble/Tajiri/Nidia storylines back in 2001-2002.

Nobles one hell of a wrestler though. Hes just not given enough credit. I mean if you give him the same stuff that Mysterio does then he could be pretty damn successful.

OH SHIT!!!

Read on Gregory Helm's myspace that he'll be returning soon.

OH MORE SHIT!!!

Gregory Helms isn't on Smackdown anymore...

Spoiler:
HURRICANE HELMS IS ON SMACKDOWN!!!!!!

SuperSonic Sep 20, 2008 10:21 PM

Spoiler:
Whoa, where did you get that info from about the Hurricane? According to WWE.com, it's still Gregory Helms. I figure since Ike just happened, they wouldn't return him back to that yet.

He said it after the match between R-Truth and Benjamin

YouTube Video

go to about 1:56 in the vid.

But you also gotta remember that the WWE is trying to play back to the kids.

I haven't been following wrestling for quite a while, but I just heard that Mick Foley is going to TNA and I have to know what the hell that is all about about? He seemed like a guy would who would remain WWE guy forever. Did they piss him off or something?
