Well sure it suck for Sony to be losing exclusive titles, however it doesn't really affect me. So many people whether it be the "Sony guys" going "Damn, there goes another", or the "360 guys" going "HA! you lost another title" they all get too wound up in something that doesn't even affect them. Unless one owns stock of a said company WHO CARES?!?! When titles start switching from PS3 to EXCLUSIVELY on the 360 THEN I'll care. AC6 and MH3 are two games you mentioned that you think this will happen with. AC6 is possible, it could go either way. Monster Hunter 3 on the other hand, seeing how it's biggest in Japan where the PS3 outsells the 360 just over 2/1 I don't think it will be 360 exclusive. Perhaps multi-platform, however once again, unless one owns stock there's nothing bad as far as a consumer is concerned.
As for myself I have a 360 and PS3 for a reason. That way I can play ALL exclusives and the source copy of multi-platform games. Ex; Armored Core 4 -X360 DMC4 -PS3 ...etc because from experiance about 70% of simultanious ports SUCK. Or 90% Wii ports by Ubisoft I don't know why 360 fans are so happy over the DMC4 thing and why Sony fans are so down because BOTH now get to enjoy the game, and BOTH have just as many exclusives to them this year alone. Thanks for the Namco info, I obviously wasn't 100% on the details. playstation3 is a bust

xbox is going to take over the gaming industry. They have a lot more in the works for the serious gamers out there. i just went to (url removed) and found some really cool future products that are coming out. You should check it out. :twitch: QUOTE=Tube;378]Well, only four and a half more months until this bad boy is released. I don't doubt it will be at least slightly more powerful hardware-wise than the Xbox 360, but what about the games? So far, I don't see anything stunning that sells the system for me. Sure, MGS is comin' like what, but I've seen better. I'll probably just pick a couple up to resell for a couple thousand greens.[/QUOTE] |
Well, that much we can agree on. I'm not cheering one way or the other, it's just that people take some of the news rather seriously, and I had misconstrued your comments as meaning that you were hoping it would remain PS3 exclusive. My bad.
Agreed on the whole buying all three thing too |
(ip): That's funny because EVERY market examinar IN THE WORLD would disagree with you. As a matter of fact, every examiner sais that the 360 will be on the bottom. That doesn't mean that it will do bad, but it remains to be seen for the 360 to have any strenght outside of North America. It's a joke in Japan and the PS3 preorders in Europe seem to be quite promissing. I don't claim to know the future, however there's a lot of people who would have to disagree with you on that statement.
Skills: No prob man. PSWii60 ALL THE WAY!!! Gamer for LIFE!!! |
I finally decided to play FFVII and FFVIII on my PS3. Well I start the games and I notice it right away that the 1.5 firmware update didn't fix the issues with PS1 games. Cause they still look horrible, all the update did was fix the PS2 games which still some people are complaining about. I have a standard TV from 1999 so I'm not playing it on an HDTV. I seriously hope Sony fixes this damn problem.
Even the people complaining on the PS forum are saying that their playing it on standard television sets and they see some of their PS2 games not looking like they should. I e-mailed Sony's PlayStation customer service about it, I hope more people phone them or e-mail them so Sony fucking fixes the problem 100%. Some people dont care but I got a lot of PS2 and PS1 games that I always play. |
Just wanted to post here that in the firmware 1.6 update that on top of the folding@HOME that there will also be a background downloading feature added. Current games will pause your (up to 6 queable downloads) when you play them and resume download when on the XMB, while future games will have download control. Most likely meaning to continue downloading while playing a game and pause when you go to play online.
|
Oh awesome. I heard about the downloading update, but wasn't aware that it would pause the downloads while you went online with a game. I wasn't really sure how that would work, and I guess I thought that it would either be a really crappy connection, or that you would simply not be able to go online with games while it downloaded. And you can queue up to 6 downloads? This is shaping up to be an incredibly nice update!

Tomorrow night it launches over here, and we'll be playing some midnight MotorStorm at my friends house. Yay! |
I have a question, does online play for games like Resistance and motorstorm will be worldwide? like will the NA be able to play with people from Europe?
|
Nope. European machines will connect to European servers and I don't think you can change this yourself unless the game itself lets you connect manually. The latency would simply be too much for worldwide play.
|
damn... I wanted to play with some friends...
|
In general that's the idea, however I believe that there will be games that will let you choose the server you want to play on. Motorstorm looks like it will probably have this feature, and I know that Metal Gear Subsistance allowed you to choose your server too.

I haven't bothered connecting my ps3 until some more promising games gets published and marketed I have a JAP region ps3, it doesn't make any difference in ps3 games but I can play jap ps/ps2 games which makes me REALLY happy. But I really hate playing my old games on it because the graphics were meant for a standard TV and not a widescreen HD. So the graphics looks stretched and awkard. Kinda like when you play ps1 games on a ps2 everything looks pixalated and weird. That doesn't bother me too much because I can switch to 480i with the component cables but it's kinda of a hassle. Speaking of hassles, I can't play Harvest moon because the game doesn't reconise memory cards. wtf. I can play all the games I like except Harvest Moon. awww. |
While the BC on the PS3 is nice and all, after my run in with the 360 and it's BC support I realized that I would not be able to trust BC suport for future systems without evidence of functionality. I still use the PS3 for my PS2 games, but I'm glad I played things safe and kept my PS2 around for PS1 games and Guitar Hero. Too bad others didn't come to think along the same lines for thoes who still plan on playing a lot of PS1 games and Guitar Hero (and the few glitchy PS2 games). Hind sight 20/20 I suppose, wait and pick up a PS2 for like $20 in a year for you guys I suppose.

Maybe I'm just a little bitter about AC6 going xbox :(... |
the last time I check it was still Square-Enix that was making final fantasy not sony and still I don,t know why Sony would suggest a developers to think about multi-platforming a game and not to say a big name like final fantasy...
an I was talking about that with a friend. I can see Capcom doing that because they already did it with Resident evil. Almost every console after the snes got at least one Resident evil... and I pretty sure that seeing Devil May Cry becoming one of their biggest series decided to go for multi-platform to make even more cash. but Square-Enix seem a little different. they don't seem to go for one game on multiple console (port I kind of exception here I think) but they still don't refuse to work on the other system. What I want to say is I think they will keep the number series on the ps3 but maybe make other Final Fantasy or original title for the other console. not to say that they tends to go, for they big titles, on the console that sell the most in japan. Currently it was the DS that they choose for the next dragon quest... and we all know that the xbox in japan is very far to be in good position. So I guess we can ride off a potential exclusivity but multi-platform, I don't know...at least we can be sure that if they do it, it will surely boost the xbox360 sell in japan... but if they really decide to make Final Fantasy XIII multi-platform... I don't know, I think that even if I'll still love my ps3, I might loose faith that Sony will overcome all the bad-mouthing there is at the moment... and Square-Enix put enough time just to make the engine and work and I'm pretty sure will have to wait till end of 2008 maybe 2009 before seeing it here and i really don't want that they take more time to port it on another console... |
Like MGS4[PS3, unknown 360 stance] and VF5[PS3, late 360 release], even if the games go multi-platform it'll take about a year to make it so, so late into the project. These types of multi-platform moves doesn't seem to matter to the public as much (as for "console wars") as say same time multi-platform releases. This is based on that no one seemed to kick up a big stink when the 360 lost Oblivion, Enchanted Arms, Saint's Row, and I don't know what else. But they all are coming out about a year after their 360 releases. Main point is that without anything already announced, multi-platform content after a year only matters to thoes with X-system and not Y, which is how people should take news like DMC4 and other multi-platform moves instead of using it as ammunition for their fanboyish-guns, especially when they're not even interested in the said game.
NEWS!!! V1.6 update now available. Only took me about 4minutes for download. http://xbox360.qj.net/uploads/articl...ge_qjgenth.jpg Start running... NOW!!!!! |

Square has always been loyal to the companies they make titles for, and have yet to jump ship on a console after making their choice for flsgship system. That said they also choose their flagship system based on hardware potential and Japanese market share (i.e. jump from N64 FFVI remake to PS1 with FFVII). Seeing how the PS3 have both of thoes locked down, I think it's safe to say that SE will keep the main titles on the PS3.
|
I helped cure cancer last night :p Warm fuzzies for all PS3 owners.
Oh, and background downloading is pretty spiffy. It literally just sits in the background and plugs away. You can also queue things up. Apparently the downloads persist through playing games and movies as well. Additionally, developers have the code to access your PSN friends list within a game now, and so Motorstorm will be recieving an update to allow for in-game friend list functionality on Friday apparently. The next step of course is to allow access to the XMB while ingame, or have universal messaging/invites for all online games. |
This is total speculation but Sony is calling the PS@HOME and LBP parts of their gaming 3.0 plans. So is that just their project name, or is that firmware 3.0 and there's going to be a big 2.0 update in between?
Secondly I can't get the folding@HOME to connect to the server. Is there something I need to set? Finally if it's possible to set up teams, perhaps we could get a GFF folding team going. |
The console is released in the UK tomorrow. Being a PC gamer myself, I don't keep up with consoles, and even if I was to miraculously buy one it would be in at least a few years. What's the overall opinion like though?
|
I'm heading to GAME at midnight tonight to pick mine up. Think i'll probably get Resistence and Motorstorm initally, then VF5 next week. Can't wait, no sleep for me tonight.
|
well after reading that slayerx downloaded the update in 4min and that I look mine and in 15min I was only at 30% I decided to go wired...The cable was just long enough to go from my ps3 to my router XD and so I launch the download... 5min later it's done ; ; I knew it was faster but that much XD
but people that have the 60gb do you kind of feel bad to use wired connection when one of the "special feature" of the 60gb was the wireless connection? XD |
Kind of yes. But since this is the same with all wireless connections I guess I can't really complain, seeing how I knew what to expect. The update downloads are the worst though, game demos of the same size tend to download quicker then the updates so I don't get it.
IMPORTANT For thoes who are helping with the folding@HOME project please check out my thread in Sony Scape. P.S. If someone could also make the folding@HOME thread and "important" one too, that would be GREAT! |
