March 23rd? What exactly is going to revolutionize the console on the 23rd? Is it a release date?

Yes..dammit! :D European release!
Touched the Ps3 for the first time today....why is it that we always are left behind :P

Anyway, GDC blew us away, especially Home.
Can say that is almost blew Xlive away!

LivingDreams Mar 9, 2007 09:46 PM

Seriously this new Home feature is looking good. I hope they had to come out with it sooner. I like how they say you can share music from your ps3 in your home or room w/e it's called with other people.

SouthJag Mar 9, 2007 10:55 PM

I talked to a customer at my store about it, and he seemed really psyched. He was really impressed with the new features, and when I told him about Little Big Planet he looked very intrigued and wanted very much to watch the trailer. This is definitely a big plateau for Sony, and if it's successful, could spell a big win in the online community and gameplay market.

MORE SONY BULLSH-

Oh wait.

Wait, Home and LBP are actually really super cool. Is it possible? Did Sony actually... innovate? Home and LBP is genius stuff. PS3 is finally showing us something genuinely special and impressive. I'm really starting to see a need to have a PS3 now (or at least when Home and LBP are out). Both projects look AMAZING, like even just graphically. I could spend countless hours with a few good friends on LBP being all "Hey, let's try this user's level" and just tearing through content cooperatively. And Home just looks phenomenally deep. Trophies are infinitely more interesting to me than plain old achievements on a list. I especially love the idea Phil dropped of having a TV screen in your trophy room playing like your best lap in a racing game. I can imagine having a bunch of videos of speed runs I've done in different games.

Both of these projects give me goosebumps and solidify me buying a PS3 this fall.

If I had to guess, E3 is going to give everyone the need to buy a PS3. If Sony keeps rolling out with the good news that they pulled at GDC...

Slayer X Mar 10, 2007 10:45 AM

Well at E3 you're going to see a LOT of games being demoed for the first time, and a lot of games that have already been demoed being playable at the show. Games like Killzone, LAIR, MGS4, DMC4 should all be there as playable. Games like FFXIII and I'm not sure what all else should have extended trailers. Then finally you're probably going to see a lot of games coming out of the closet for the first time of course too.

That's about right Slayer, but keep in mind, the show's been downscaled considerably from past affairs. I'm expecting a much smaller show with announcements becoming rather frequent 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after instead of being concentrated within that one week. Oops, forgot to mention it but it seems like there might be a public beta for Warhawk. To leave on a good note, here's a entertaining video of Warhawk's MP.

Some notables:
 • Guy who gets 2 kills and then proceeds to dodge the missile locked onto him has some godly skills.
 • Ground combat is insane
 • Warhawks + ground combat = True Madness
 • AA guns actually have some serious bite

Man, seeing this in action gets my mind wondering about Ace Combat online.

Slayer X Mar 10, 2007 04:23 PM

Man, with this intense gameplay and what not clans are going to eat Warhawk right up man. Which is awesome because I'm part of one, BOO-YA!!!

LivingDreams Mar 10, 2007 11:07 PM

I just saw the press video of Little Big Planet and I'm impressed. I'm not a fan of those party type of games where you and others play but this one looks different, it looks like a fun game.

BREAKiNG NEWS: TIFF Exploit For PS3 confirmed!?!

Quote:

sPECIAL nOTE:

Hmzzz i think we have news to give do we? Ever wondered why the PS3
is such a better machine than a xbox360? simply because they
implement too much stuff in one time! "SCEI" dont do that, you
need to learn a bit more from Microsoft on this part even when
they have forgotten a hypervision hack on kernel 4532 and 4548
they fixed it very fast! And what do we see on the PS3? Up until
firmware 1.51 we still see holes! Why? You guys dont have the
right persons to work with or is it just the pressure from
the big boss? So for now dont update higher than
1.51 since 1.54 hasnt yet been tested, and 1.51 had a few tiny
things fixed, but it didnt stop us much :-D Ohhh btw ever
wondered if those updates are required on a disc? Actually all
games up to now work without any update At least work fine on
1.32 :-) Thats all for now! So seeya tiff tiff and bye bye
So in summary, PS3 Devs should focus on finding that TIFF Exploit so that unsigned code can be ran, a PS3 iSO Loader, and just about anything else on v1.32 and lower... also, those who wish to play online can now update to v1.51 (since it still contains exploitable holes, obviously lower Firmware has even more though) without worry... very useful news indeed!

Well, enough with the barely-english gibberish, the new PSM has a long ass interview on Ninja Gaiden: Sigma. It's the featured cover as well, but let's get down to the info revealed (Source):
Quote:

 • Unspecified amount of original content for Sigma
 • EVERYTHING was redone for Sigma: backgrounds, enemies, characters, animations, textures, etc.
 • Game will make use of the SIXAXIS in one way by helping to power up Ninpo magic while casting it
 • Sigma will be 19 Chapters long, 3 more Chapters than the previous 2 versions
 • A lot of the new stuff is when you are going to be playing as Rachel
 • Will run at a constant 60 FPS with full self-shadowing and in 720p
 • 3 ways to play - off the disk, off a partial install, or off a full install (for those who plan to play for long periods and don't want to worry about loads times. They wanted to give the gamer a choice on the matter)
 • New difficulty level above the previous ones
 • Still talking to Sony about what the possibilites are for downloadable content
 • Karma ranking system/online leaderboards will be intact
 • Karma ranking/leaderboards will be improved upon by letting you view the results for a player's run through for specific chapters and how many times they died, etc.

Rachel Specific:
 • Features own integrated story missions and own mission mode levels
 • Anything but a new skin for Hayabusa
 • Completely separate arsenal of moves and all new animations
 • Will have a different 'feel' from Hayabusa and will require a different way of thinking to play as compared to her counterpart
 • Will still absorb essence and such as Hayabusa

Wow. After watching those multiplayer videos of Warhawk, I have entirely changed my opinion of the game. This game has changed. A lot. The ground stuff looks way more intense than it did before, and just straight up fun. Warhawks zooming right above engaged in crazy dogfights while dropping mines on the ground troops below. I freaking want it.

Also - Warhawk for retail on Blu-Ray, not the PSN Store. Don't know how I feel about that really...I guess it dosen't matter to me. Sounds like it might just have a higher price tag now :/. Would it sell better in retail stores or online, I wonder?

SouthJag Mar 13, 2007 11:31 PM

Arguably, having a game in a retail store is better. In Warhawk's case, if it were online only, then only the people who go online with their console would show any real interest in it. People buying the game would be even lower than that.

However, if it's in a retail store, it would get far more exposure (especially to those sad, backwater people who do not have internet or don't care to use it) and possibly convince some gamers to finally make that online leap. Of course, a free online service with play included would certainly help to sweeten the deal.

Speaking of which, has it been confirmed whether or not Warhawk will be free to play?

Slayer X Mar 13, 2007 11:37 PM

If you have to buy the game via retail, then yes it will be free to play online. It's not an MMORPG that requires constant updates and maintnence.

Infernal Monkey Mar 13, 2007 11:46 PM

Good news! The whole paying to download full version games thing scares me, I need a box to hold and love. Don't drag me into the future, I don't want to go. ;__;

Slayer X Mar 15, 2007 05:29 PM

Don't know how pratical it is, but we might as well put our computing power to use while we wait for KILLZONE 2 to come out and use all the PS3's power on it's own.

Article: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6167492...ewstop;title;2

In short with the PS3 frimware update 1.6 due out at the end of march, amongst other upgrades, the system will have a new feature called folding@HOME. Basically what this is is takes a semi-old idea of networking idle PCs over the net and use them to help process information for a specific cause simply because no single supercomputer can do the entire process on it's own.

While this may not be as big as PS HOME or LBP, pardon the cliche but, "It's one small step for gaming, but one giant leap for the common good". At least if Sony dies now, they won't be going to hell anytime soon. TAKE THAT BILL GATES!!!!! Hell's got your usual suite all ready for your descent, Mwahahahahaha...

Metal Sphere Mar 16, 2007 12:51 PM

For those folks waiting for a PS3 Ace Combat, it looks like you'll also be able to get on the Xbox 360. That's if it's multi-platform and not 360 exclusive which seems to be the case. Hopefully we get an announcement and screens so enough.

As pleased as I am about Folding@home finally being confirmed, you seem typically oblivious to how much money Gates and Microsoft has showed into all manner of charity and general good. It's the least they can do with that amount of cash flow.

That's an awesome revelation too, but the Ace Combat one really got me excited. The ACES team pumped out beautiful games on terrible hardware, and now that they've got something easy like the 360 to work with, we should see something approaching realism.

I'm assuming exclusivity for both at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement means it's multiplatform (same goes for BK).

Umm, looking at the dates for each game: Whoa. This fall is going to be a ball for anyone who's purchased a next gen console.

Slayer X Mar 16, 2007 04:05 PM

I can't comment on the Ace Combat but I can say with some confidence that you will see Katamari on the PS3 also, simply because Sony owns 49% of Namco so... common. No I can't say that 100% for sure, but yeah.

Secondly without an official announcement of these games existance I highly dought that any of that information is even reliable, if not just total speculation in itself. However, you know that they didn't pull the games out of thin air and despite conflict of details, it's for certain that these games must be on their ways for debut and soon.

From Gamespot:

Quote:

The latest instalment in Dante's adventures has joined the list of titles that will no longer be platform-exclusive to Sony's next-gen console, which launches in the UK on Friday. The news is in line with a growing trend--many companies that are choosing to go multiplatform rather than limit profits with a single-format game.

Previous titles to go multiplatform include Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassin's Creed, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War, Fatal Inertia (all previously PS3-exclusive), and Saint's Row (previously billed as an Xbox 360-exclusive).

Capcom said in a statement that Devil May Cry 4 "will take advantage of each platform's hardware strengths." The company added that the move was made to "to help enhance profits."
Talk about Ouch, thats a total surprise to me but does make me happy as I can delay my decision to grab a PS3 even longer so as for the price to depreciate. I never thought for a second the 360 would see this game.

Now I'm honestly believing that either one or both between MGS4 or FF XIII has a chance of becoming multi platform a rumor which I was previously so haste to brush aside.

immp Mar 20, 2007 11:24 AM

Where's the source for that quote?

Wrong again.

You're thinking Cellius, that cell-centric company Namco and Sony paired up for. Sony owns 49% of that, not of Namco Bandai. NB owns the other 51% of Cellius though. We haven't heard shit from them yet, but then again they've only been around for just under 2 months.

Namco Bandai itself is a publically traded company, with Bandai having officially purchased Namco in September of 2005, which I'm sure you recall. Even though they operate pretty autonomously for the most part, Bandai still owns Namco. While Sony may have some stake in the company, it would be nothing near 49%.

You sound like your grasping because the PS3 is hemmoraging exclusives at a pretty fast rate here. The AC6 rumour turned out true. Look at Devil May Cry. It's all but confirmed that Monster Hunter 3 is going to show up too. I would hardly be surprised if these two other Namco titles ended up 360 exclusives as well.
