My rolls are both fine after adding my skill bonuses, fyi.

Well henceforth I'll be using lurker's suggestion to withhold any deus ex machinas until somebody's already been killed, so the murder train should be picking up speed very shortly.

I hope everyone realizes the pirate battle was intentionally easy to let LeHah get his feet wet, so don't expect any more cannons to be left lying around for your convenience.

While I appreciate the "help", my problem is more in unlearning the 2nd Edition rules and trying to figure out this 4th edition shit. I tried reading it and my mind still defaults to the old system. (This is also why Ive never bothered to play the WotC Star Wars game)

wvlfpvp Jun 28, 2009 09:41 PM

Fucking.

HILARIOUS.

In that "god, I hope EVERYBODY doesn't die, it'd be nice to play with SOME of these characters by the time my turn comes around" way.

Oh, and in that "wow, they just keep gettin' kilt by the stupidest things" way.

Also, WotC Star Wars is retarded for those of us who learned D6.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 29, 2009 03:58 AM

I did only fail one of my rolls. Admittedly it was the more important one.

FatsDomino Jun 29, 2009 08:06 AM

Maybe if you're lucky Pang will float your bloated corpses to the nearest island where some freaky voodoo witch doctor will bring you back to life minus one level.

Seriously, way to roll those dice.

The unmovable stubborn Jun 29, 2009 10:31 AM

Skills, while Deni had not kept us waiting anywhere near 48 hours I have accepted your post as canon on the basis that it's massively hilarious

I am a malicious DM yes but killing people in a skill challenge, really? It's a boat, not the motherfuckin' Tomb of Horrors.

FatsDomino Jun 29, 2009 11:11 AM

Pang, the dice are speaking.

The unmovable stubborn Jun 29, 2009 12:00 PM

ATTENTION:

PERCEPTION IS FOR LOOKING AT THINGS

INSIGHT IS FOR BEIN' SUSPICIOUS AT PEOPLE

JUST BECAUSE THE WORD "SIGHT" IS IN THERE DOES NOT MEAN YOU USE YOUR EYEBALLS

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 29, 2009 12:04 PM

Ah, I see. I thought it meant like gaining general insight into the situation at hand no matter what whilst perception was for spotting traps and shit.

I hope everyone's remembering that Bob's mere presence improves their own perceptive skills so don't be afraid to test them!

Also, if one person has tested a skill, can someone else check the same one? I mean, can Bob use history as Soggy already has?

Sure, Bob can use History. It's just that Soggy can't use it again.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 29, 2009 12:09 PM

Cool. As it is, Bob could have backflipped over a dragon and accurately sexed it in the same manouver with those rolls.

No. Hard Pass. Jun 29, 2009 01:31 PM

You know, if Skills wants to ride my nuts so bad, he's free to take his mouth off Rat's long enough to give mine a shot.

Animechanic Jun 29, 2009 03:04 PM

Gabe thinks those waves are mighty suspicious. They might be lying to him.

The unmovable stubborn Jun 29, 2009 05:35 PM

Yeah I don't want to harp on it but you want to describe your knowledge of the ocean the Nature skill is right there.

Anyway this post is mostly just an FYI that I'm probably going to mostly be away from the PC from Tuesday morning until Friday evening, so as a homework assignment I'd like you all to read pages 179-189 of the Player's Handbook.

I think it might help!

Sarag Jun 29, 2009 07:51 PM

So I like how the wand of Magic Missile allows the enemy wizard to cast it as much as she wishes, but when Bob gets his grubby paws on it, it only allows him an encounter power. :(

The man always keeping the Player Character down...

The unmovable stubborn Jun 29, 2009 07:54 PM

The enemy wizard already had Magic Missile as an innate power. I just gave her the wand so she could push people off the boat. In theory. If she had ever hit anyone with the damn thing.

Besides, NPCs and their equipment always turn to garbage once they've joined the player party (The Magus Principle).

Sarag Jun 29, 2009 09:22 PM

Fuck yeah the Magus principle. 6666 hp knocked down to, like, 66.

Zergrinch Jun 29, 2009 09:29 PM

There's a perfectly rational explanation for that!

Lavos ate up all his powers and stuffs, so he got weakened. Yeah, that's right.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 7, 2009 05:36 PM

We're all going to die, aren't we?

If I may be so bold as to suggest a strategy, I reckon we should try to push the walking ones off the cliff, then mop up the flying nasties. I can Magic Missile one a square back but a bit or shuffling around and some bullrushing should do the trick, right?

Which side is the sheer drop again?

Araes Jul 7, 2009 10:27 PM

I would think the upper left is the sheer drop (P1 to L7 cliff edge), unless that's a flying ship.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 8, 2009 06:55 AM

Haha, I didn't notice that. Right then, everyone up against the cliff face and try to shove these guys over. I think Garr has a push-people-back move, possibly LeHah has too and I think either of those options would be infinitely preferable to actually fighting these fuckers.

No. Hard Pass. Jul 8, 2009 12:55 PM

We all do. It's called charge and then bullrush.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 8, 2009 01:12 PM

Indeed, but Garr's doesn't need a run up.

FatsDomino Jul 8, 2009 01:23 PM

Grab a dwarf and use him as a sled down the cliff-side. :)
