I'd really like to see that one. By the way, I miss moments like these on Raw.

mortis Jun 11, 2008 07:19 PM

Heh, and so we come full circle. Maybe about ten years ago was when the WWE took the step towards more mature television. Now it has gone back to PG programming again...

SuperSonic Jun 12, 2008 02:42 PM

Yeah, what's the deal with that? Are they trying to attract more kiddies to the show? I mean, you had the WWF Magazine for Kids coming out so that would make sense. Next thing you know, Doink the Clown will be making another return.

I just hope the draft lottery brings up some new interesting rivalries. I would prefer to see a huge battle between the two brands, but maybe I'm getting my hopes up.

mortis Jun 12, 2008 06:47 PM

Three...but I know what you mean.

If it wasn't that it's likely the WWE is going to lose the ECW timeslot, I would still love to see Raw become "WCW Nitro", and have all three promotions feud. Of course...we all know how well that worked the last time.

As for interesting feuds, the problem is most of the feuds have been done in recent years. There ARE some that would still be interesting though:

1.) HBK Vs Undertaker - Aside from their RR07 encounter, their matches at NWO 07 and the week before RAW, and HBK eliminating Taker from the RR08 Rumble, they haven't had a real match since Jan of 98. That's TEN YEARS AGO. It could be a big match of respect as who is the top veternan.

2.) HHH Vs Undertaker - They haven't had a match since 2001. And at that time, it was Biker Taker Vs HHH. It would be interesting to see HHH Vs Deadman Taker. They could even go with the idea that Trips never beat the deadman when he was the deadman.

3.) Kennedy Vs Edge - Edge outsmarted Kennedy for the world title shot. A shot Kennedy would have theoritically used lastyear to win the title. Kennedy never got revenge for what happened. And face it, his feud with Regal is over at least for another month and his current feud doesn't yield his full potential.

4.) Jeff Vs Matt Hardy - This feud never really happened. They teased it several times, but aside from a RR03 confrontation, it never happened. It could happen though with the idea being that Matt is angry at Jeff for blowing his chances, or Jeff angry at Matt for his recent success.

5.) Kane Vs HBK - Kane came in right when HBK went out. They did cross paths once when Kane put HBK out for a few months, and they have had a few matches since, but no real feud. Kane could just turn heel and choke-slam HBK with the idea being that he's angry at losing the ECW title (whenever that happens).

6.) HBK Vs Big Show - SOmehow, this is one of the few matches that had eluded the WWE all these years. The idea is simple. HBK says he has beaten all the big men, with SHow saying he hasn't beaten the biggest man of them all.

7.) Cena Vs Batista - No real match between these two guys. They have met at the tail-end of the 05 and 08 RUmbles, have had a few tag matches against each other, and had a few matches years back. But no real feud. Either one could turn heel, although maybe they could do some tweener stuff with Cena for the kids and women portion of the fan base, and Batista for the other part. Both could try to one-up each other and see which of them was truly the best between them.

8.) Jericho Vs Edge - Ok, so Jericho just turned so this is unlikely at best. However, they haven't had a match since 03ish. Hard to see how they could start things off though.

9.) HHH Vs Edge - Quote Edge, "Why don't we have match, you and me?". Quote Triple H's Reply, "How about you first get a few world title reigns under your belt?". Those words would start up an intense feud. Yes, it hasn't been THAT long since they had the whole RKO Vs DX feud, but this time it would for the title and a singles feud.

10.) Jeff Hardy Vs Edge - Jeff has been in the main event light for almost a year despite all that has gone down. He is even in it with Cena and HHH as we speak. Him and Edge have had feuds in the past but not a singles feud. Both men have grown by leaps and bounds, and they could culminate with the TLC match between Jeff and Edge.

11.) Jericho Vs Taker - Amazingly, while they have crossed paths and have had words, these men have never feuded. Jericho could goad Taker by going on about how Taker's gone, etc. Jericho's facial expressions would be priceless with all the stuff Taker would pull on him.

12.) MVP Vs Kennedy - These two are rising stars on both their respective brands. Both could make an interesting feud with the winner becoming the number one contender. It would also help both men, as Kennedy's star has faded due to his problems within the last year, and for some reason MVP isn't main eventing yet.

13.) Punk Vs Orton - They have teased this for some time now. The last match between them didn't have a finish. It could be that Orton is now a 'legend' and Punk is now the up-and-comer whose trying to overcome him. That would be quite the reversal of roles for Orton and a role for Punk that he would be able to run with.

14.) Punk Vs Edge - And they have teased this as well. It could even be that Punk used his MITB to beat Edge for the title after Edge has a super rough defense against say Batista, or something like an elimination chamber. Then, either that could result in a double-turn OR PUnk saying basically 'what comes around, goes around'.

15.) PUnk Vs Undertaker - PUnk turns heel and goads the retired Taker to the ring. SOMEHOW PUnk would um...punk Undertaker.

SuperSonic Jun 12, 2008 07:28 PM

We all know ECW doesn't count. They'd probably just team up with Smackdown and go up against Raw.

As for your feuds:

1-6. Definitely need to happen before any of them retire, especially the HBK vs. Undertaker one.

7. As much as I don't like Cena, this one is long overdue to happen and I would enjoy watching it.

8. Yeah, like you said this one probably won't happen.

I think out of the rest of them, the only one I wouldn't see myself enjoying is Punk vs. Undertaker. It could definitely happen if Taker got drafted to Raw, because I'm going to call it right now...Punk is getting drafted to Raw.

Well, since we're playing the "What rivalries would you like to see?" game, I think I'd like to see these:

1. Chris Jericho vs. Shelton Benjamin - Benjamin needs to come back to Raw...he has so much potential and needs another IC title run. Hey, he won it from Jericho in the first place so why not win it from him again?

2. Jeff Hardy vs. HHH - No triple threat, just these two going head to head. After the last pay per view they went against each other, it was the best match of the night. Their previous encounter on Raw sucked because Cena got involved.

3. Hornswoggle vs. Rey Mysterio - C'mon, out of all the people Hornswoggle could face this would be the most evenly matched out of all of them. It would also be very enjoyable to watch.

4. Big Show vs. Viscera - I just want to see the two largest athletes go at it. Big Show and Khali was a treat, so why not this?

5. JBL vs. Umanga - They've had some problems in the past...most notably back when they were having the No. 1 contender elimination chamber match for WWE title at Wrestlemania. I haven't seen a good heel vs. heel in a while.

6. Shane McMahon vs. Santino Marella - I miss seeing Shane in action. He took some insane risks to entertain the crowd and I respect the hell out of him. This would be a good match because both of these guys rely on fists more than wrestling, so pit them together in a street fight.

Dream rivalries that'll never happen:

1. Goldberg vs. Gillberg - One is awesome, the other is just hilarious. Pit them together, Gillberg pulls off the upset and watch an awesome tag team form.

2. Beth Phoenix vs. Chyna - This is like the Mason Dixon vs. Rocky Balboa fight, except Chyna isn't really that old. Beth Phoenix is the new Chyna since she's so dominant in the women's division.

3. Beth Phoenix vs. Chris Jericho - Give Beth a face turn and have her win the IC title from Jericho. I know they did this with Chyna a few years back and they also did it between Jacqueline and Disco Inferno on WCW (no titles though) and it was completely unheard of.

mortis Jun 16, 2008 12:01 AM

There was also Madusa and Evan Kourageous too for the CW title. And then Oklahoma won it. And...the poor title.

Well, Orton looks to be gone even longer, until October. Candice Michelle will return in August it seems, presuming she doesn't do another Nash.

Taker is already back going through a 'farewell tour' but maybe back by the end of July.

Abyss may be turning heel again...supposedly got booed by the England crowd a bit. But who knows. They also had Angle basically do a facish thing putting over TNA and Jarrett.

I liked the one where he made Vince accidentally admit to liking cock. Oddly enough there appears to be no video of it.

Oh I found it.

mortis Jun 16, 2008 11:55 PM

So...

Looks like the Cena-Trips match is heating up. Why do I forsee Jericho, Hardy, and perhaps Cade interjecting themselves to make the outcome tainted or even non-existent (i.e. No contest)?

I thought Jericho was going to mention that when things repeat itself, about Jannetty and HBK. He went a bit of a different direction. THe surprise return of Flair was nice, even if for a cameo appearance. Well, maybe. I still wonder if Flairwill turn on HBK for ending his career or HHH even.

Cade somehow is doing run-ins at the main event level? Geez. WIll be interesting to see how he does. I think of so many guys, Albert, Bossman, that were given these types of chances and how many of them fell flat. Well, maybe not fell flat, but they certainly didn't stay at the main event level...

I thought it was funny as fuck that some dude missed the phone call from McMahon

Darsh Jun 17, 2008 01:37 AM

wow, so how many minutes of wrestling appeared on this RAW ep? It was a huge waste of time and it makes you appreciate that ECW is on the next day, that is if they give matt sydal a push.

Anyway, for interesting fueds, Id prefer to see the guys who have been given the same push in the same direction with the same tactics and formula and let the crowd decide how it plays it out, preferably a ppv or ECW crowd. You know, just to make things less predictable

-Edge vs orton
-mark henry vs snitsky
-cena vs batista
-JBL vs Big daddy V
-paul burchill(sp?) vs shelton benjamin

Spoiler:
It's even more hilarious because they call these people before the show starts to get their home addresses where to send the checks at. As well as tell them to keep the phone lines open for Vince's call.

I felt embarassed for that one woman who just flipped out over the phone... I mean sure, $175k is a lot of money, but damn. Don't be all psycho over the shit.

On another note... Cade out of NO WHERE and I think I'm going to like the idea of Jericho being Triple H's next feud.

Slash Jun 17, 2008 05:40 PM

Imagine how pissed someone might get if they had to give up a call from a loved one whos in the military just to win 16 dollars.

mortis Jun 17, 2008 05:59 PM

Didn't Vince get Rick Roll'd? Probably the person who did it was the person who was suppose to get 2 bucks or something like that. I mean, if you found out you were getting like 4 bucks for this, wouldn't you Rick Roll Vince?

SuperSonic Jun 17, 2008 06:12 PM

Actually no, the first caller (Rick Roll person) won a decent amount from Vince...I think it was $200,000.

dagget Jun 18, 2008 07:17 AM

Well that's the only random part of it live. They don't know how much they're getting, just know that they are "finalists" and to keep the lines open to get a call from Vince. It'd be funny if the person who went completely psycho was the one who got $16 last night... I'm waiting for someone to get the shit deal of the money to be like "What? $10? I called off work to watch Raw tonight just to get $10? Fuck you Vince." and hang up. I'd be :tpg: all night long.

I think what saved her is the fact that she kissed Vinces' ass. He loves that crap.

Btw, throwing out Ric Flair kind of ruined the mood of the show for me. >_>

I hope they use the fact that Cade was trained by HBK in this story. Could be something very enjoyable right of the start of his new singles run.

That was actually a planned angle years ago, where Lance Cade would be called HBCade (Heartbreak Cade) and have a feud with Michaels... never saw the day of light though, so I really hope it does in some form or fasion.

Slash Jun 20, 2008 01:51 AM

I dunno, if they were going to use Cade in that kind of angle, I could see him playing more of a face attacking Jericho for attacking his mentor.

mortis Jun 20, 2008 03:09 AM

In some ways, it is better that they didn't do that. The mentor-student angle has been played out and rarely do those who go through with it are they successful (I can only think of the Tony Adams-Steven Austin being the exception and that wasn't done on WCW or WWE).

Winter Storm Jun 20, 2008 08:22 AM

I think..TNA is going in the right direction now. Last night's programming was well done, as well as the last one.

SuperSonic Jun 23, 2008 11:14 AM

Well tonight will be another Draft Lottery...hopefully we'll get some good trades. Maybe Cena will get his ass booted back to Smackdown and Undertaker will come to Raw. *keeps fingers crossed*

Slash Jun 23, 2008 08:59 PM

This has been one crazy ass draft. Yay...we'll be able to start speculating "trades" after the draft.

Spoiler:
And here I was hoping for Adamle to get drafted to RAW and placed as a bitch interviewer a.k.a. everyone makes fun of him like The Rock did to everyone.

And LoL To the Great Lawli for yelling at the phone. and more for the guy answering with "wrong number" now THAT'S keeping the line open lol
