This is the only thing that I could find about XP on PS3 http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/t...running-on-ps3.
You still need linux installed first in order to operate with the unix firmware of the PS3 hardware. After that you can use a Linux Windows emulation kernel to operate XP within the Unix enviroment. Beyond that I don't know the specifics as to how they did it or what all you can do with it. But there you have it, Windows on a PS3. |
So erm, no one actually managed to get an external USB harddrive to work directly on their PS3, did they?
|
Not that I know of. I tried hooking mine up, but it didn't register. I think people are on the verge of finding a way to crack this, and I hope they do it soon; SATA hard drives are much cheaper than the ones for laptops.
VF5 has been getting rave reviews, but I'm still not sure if I'll be buying it day one or not. Like I mentioned before, I wasn't very good in VF4, and the lack of a story mode really turned me off. Not sure if I should save my dough for March, which is going to be jam packed with quality titles. Oh, and OPM UK confirmed that Bioshock is coming for the PS3. It was always hinted, but never actually confirmed, so this is certainly good news. I've been very interested in this game since the IGN trailer. |
anyone having trouble loggin into PSN network? I can't get my master account to sign in at all, yet i created a sub-account and it logged in fine.
Also i wouldn't trust a OPM UK magazine over say Microsoft who have stated on numerous times that Bioshock is 360 exclusive. As two months ago, IGN and Gamespot had a PS3 page for Bioshock, but since them both of those pages have dissapeared and on the offical website, it only has the PC and 360 logo. Microsoft is most likely going to throw as much money as they can to keep it exclusive sorta like what they are doing with Dead Rising. Bioshock for PS3 is nothing more then petty speculation. I personally don't care as i own all 3 systems and am a strong beliver that games play the best on the system they were originally developed on. |
well a demo of full auto 2, just pop in the playstation store. I wasn't sure to buy it, so I'll give the demo a try (downloading it now)
oh and there a new psone game: destruction derby, I'm not sure to buy it. I did enjoy it but I don't remember if it's this version or the n64 one I played before XD I almost jump out of my seat when I saw flow in the pstore just to see it's only a video :( I don't remember but when is this suppose to come out? and I want Tekken DR ; ; |
flOw. Q*Bert. Playstation Store. February 22. A useful PS3. 6 days.
|
Don't forget Tekken: DR. It's out on the 26th.
And speaking of Tekken.... http://www.playsyde.com/leech_3560_1_en.html Nice. |
God, why are they releasing all these God awfull ps1 games on the network? Release some good games where I'll find worth buying.
I just saw some videos of Armored Core 4 or w/e the new one is, well it looks good. I know it's comming for the 360 aswell, but I might get this one for the PS3 since I dont have any PS3 games. This is the first time I've checked the game, I've never played any of the other Armored Core games or even bothered to see how it is or what it even is, but yea they seem nice. |
It may be worth while for you to watch the video preview GameTrailers.com has on AC4 if you're interested.
|
Yea I just saw the preview video, the game is looking good. I'm not into the whole mecha thing tho, but I'm really interested in this game.
Oh does any know if FEAR for the PS3 has some exlusive feature that the 360 doesnt? I saw a video it said some thing about some exclusive thing but it didnt talk much about it. |
Probably just some extra MP maps and hopefully a re-worked multiplayer mode altogether. Perhaps even decent grapgics, because the 360 one looked like shit compared to PC. And my PC is almost 4 years old.

PlayStation Store 0222

Sony never fails to disappoint its customers. :D
Translation: "We don't care about you stupid Europeans so we put out the PS+PS2 hardware in order to save production costs although the console costs still the same." |

I'm glad I'm not European. Sucks for you guys. Although, eventually, you'll be able to play all your games. Eventually.
|
they only put out the hardware emulation >.>the software emulation is still there, it was Sony intention from first time to be able to play ps2 and ps1 games without having to put the ps2 hardware in the ps3. For now it may look like European ps3 will lack in the backward compatibility but I'm pretty sure some firmware update will be able to clear that out. Maybe even the first generation of ps3 will have an update later to play those games without using the ps2 hardware in it.
|
You'd think they could actually make the PS3 a bit smaller if they went all the way to dispose of the PS/PS2 hardware. But I guess the hardware wasn't all that big to begin with...

But yes, it sucks that you guys are getting a machine that may have worse BC, hardware removed and you're still paying out the ass. The EE+GS have been on what's called the Dragon chip, one of the reasons why the PS2 becamse the PSTwo. The PS3 would have to scale down it's cooling (the fan is fucking enormous) amongst other things to shrink in size. |
Horrible news, PSOne emulation is very possible, but they sure will bring compatibility to the "best" (read best as "mainstream Europe games") PSOne games... but PS2? emulated by the PS3? thats will be a veeeery hard task.
|
You guys should take the time to make a JP account, because their PSN store has some cool stuff that ours do not. Trailers for Virtua Fighter 5, Gundam Musou, and even an anime 1080p trailer. There's also some wacky games to download if you want to spend the yen.
|
Man, I don't mind the size of the PS3 all that much. At least it looks good and is the quietest system on th market, both which mean more to me then size.
As for the BC thing, Metal and Inhert are right. The hardware removal was aleays a part of the plan, and after they get it running will be something that will find its way into the rest of the JP & NA units. Burp: It won't bee all that hard. Sure it'll be harder then PS1 emulation, but seeing how the open source community already have a working PS2 emulator for the PC and Sony has a LOT more info and experiance, I'm sure the it won't take all that long for them to get it running. At least they're more dedicated to the whole BC thing unlike another company. Then again seeing how big the PS2 was, I suppose it's more pivotal to Sony too. |

Well if Europe didn't have the screwed up PAL 50Hz standard, then they WOULD have been able to use the same emulation as the rest of the world's PS3s have.
|
I took SOLDIER's advice and signed up for the Playstation Store under a Japanese account and I am pleasantly surprised. There's a free Dokodemo Issho game titled 'Mainichi Issho.' The game is free, but they have extra items for sale, similar to how some MMOs like Gunbound work.
If you can't speak Japanese, don't bother. If you can and you know Toro (Sony's trademark cat), then I think you should go for it. The games are always pretty fun and extremely cute. |
