Heyo, fellow members. We didn't have a session this week, making it the first time we haven't had a session. It was because of 1) lack of people, and 2) the fact I was a little busy in the evening and couldn't spare the time.

An impromtpu make-up session was to be held on Saturday afternoon, but I had to go somewhere at the last minute, which held me up for the greater part of the afternoon, so that session never came to be either.

Ah, oh well. There's always next time!

I bought this the other day and patched up to 1.42 but there are like no servers :(

1.42? Is that the beta patch? Well, it's no wonder there's no servers. Now you have to basically reinstall the entire game w/patches to get it back to it's pre-beta state. Ouch.

I lied, there are a few, and always at least 1 server that is pretty much full, but i'm finding I have a lack of patience for the game, much like I have had with Counter-Strike Source recently, if I die a few times in a row I get pissed and turn it off.

No wonder i'm dying though, i've only had the game a few days, have like 30ish points on my account so i'm still on the default rank.

Bleh, it'll take me awhile to get better and find everything there is to know about the game.

Practice makes perfect, dontcha know. BF2 is way more fun than CSS though. Just stick at it and you'll have fun (eventually), and maybe you can join some of our sessions sometime :)

Unfortunately, since you installed the beta patch, the number of servers will be quite low. I'd recommend you switching back to the last patch, although that will require a big reinstall.

Well, tragedy struck earlier today in the form of a fried hardrive. Until I get a replacement master drive, I'm afraid I won't be able to play.

However, I did take the liberty of creating a Battlefield 2 chat for all who wish to use it. It's named simply #bf2 on Xelium. If you have any question regarding this, feel free to PM me. I do have a few people in mind for OPs, Freelance Wolf being one of those people.

Ouch, sorry to hear about the harddrive. Sucks when that happens...actually, it's never happened to me really, but I've had a few close calls. Hope you kept backups of your stuff in any case...

Reading about your HDD problem makes me realize I still need to back up more stuff to DVD in case it happens to me. I've burned lots of my videos just a few days ago, but I still have a lot of stuff left that I hafta preserve. Sucks if you lost anything.

As for the BF2 chat, as much as I'm honoured you'd like me to be ops, is there enough people around to warrant making a chatroom? We only have a few regulars :D Well, we'll see how it goes, hee hee. I haven't been to IRC in a while.

I borrowed a copy of this game from a friend until I can get my own. Is 1.3 the latest patch? Moreover, is this the one most people play? Last time I checked they released a patch that fucked up the game and most played the original version. That was a some time ago, though.

It was more of a "Well, I can do this in about a minute" situation, so I just went ahead and did so. I was thinking it would be more a place where BF2 players could gather on IRC-if they happen to be on-rather than it being an actual form of coordination for playing. I know sometimes it's easier to just talk and get to know each other for me on IRC instead of Xfire.

Ah, too busy last night to go to IRC.

I think X-Fire is better off in the long run though. The good thing about it is that we can chat with each other during the game. Can't really do that in IRC.

All the same, I'll stick around IRC if we get people in there. Haven't been there since Urban Dead sorta blew up :(

Ugh, I'd hate to double-post, but uh, it doesn't look like I have much of a choice here.

For those of you who don't know yet, the team hasn't had any sessions for the last two (or was it three?) weeks. Now, don't get me wrong. It's not because we're breaking up and don't care for the game anymore. It was due to reasons out of our control. Hey, it happens to anyone.

Taco's new PC is currently BORKED (that's what he said), so until his PC is not BORKED, the sessions will be postponed. Things should pick up once Kamui comes back from his vacation, and when Taco's PC is no longer BORKED. Hey, I like that word...

This is just an update to let you other people know what's going on.

Oh, and once I figure it out, I want to update the BF2 information in GFFWiki.

I have been really buisy also and havn't been able to play much, but I should be able to play this Friday, at least as of now I think I can. So, if anyone still wants to attempt a session Friday I am up for it.

Yeah, 2 weeks without sessions now. Seems like noone has been on at the right times, and our rescheduling to Saturday never seems to pull through, grr. Oh well, we should be back to normal soon hopefully.

And we mostly chat through xfire since it allows to communicate with each others without interruptping a particular gaming session.

I moved up my first rank tonight after a pretty good game. I'm so proud :)

Has anyone here tried the special forces update? Vehicles are something I never really enjoyed in games much and aside from the ridiculous system requirements, it's what annoys me most about Battlefield 2.

There's a special forces update? I haven't been keeping up with BF2 news lately. I don't mind vehicles, as I on occasion use them myself, but I do prefer infantry.

Well hopefully we will begin resuming our weekly sessions as early as...this week. At least, that's what Taco says.

I realize we never once played Special Forces together, ever. We (ie, the people who have it) should get together someday for some Warlord lovin'.

Err, by update I meant the expansion. I guess my post seems a little confusing.

Oh yes, that makes sense then. Yup, I have Special Forces, and so does a few other members here. We never play it in our weekly sessions though. We usually get someone playing who doesn't have it.

Special Forces is fun. There are some maps that I liked, and they were centered on infantry too, which is good. Have you tried the Amoured Fury booster pack? It's got great maps, but it is armour heavy though, which will probably not interest you.

Update! Okay, so there were a total of three of us who came last night, and even with few people, we still had lots of fun. Unfortunately, my attempts to blow up things with the TOW have proved to be in vain. Nuts. Oh well, better luck next time. I need 559 points left to rise up to the status of Gunnery Sergeant.
