Nintendo's shown without doubt that the control setup enhances many of the actions performed in Link's world, but thankfully also exercised restraint and didn't overthrow everything we've become accustomed to over the years just for the sake of showing off the controller.
Thank you, Jesus. I'm not ever going to be happy about having to relearn how to use this controller, but at least they didn't queer up the controls for the sake of making a tech demo. That's what Mario Galaxy is for. And I'll admit that aiming with the wand sounds a hell of a lot easier than trying to center a cursor with an analog stick.

here's some videos from gccafe.com

The Legend of Zelda Fishing Demo (46.3 MB)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Ultra High Quality 720x480) [89.5 MB]

Those videos were excellent! My only fear was that perhaps the game music wasn't up to par. Oot and MM had great game music, but I found tWW somewhat lacking. After hearing the boss music (with a reference to the fire boss music in Oot ;)) and the victory music, my last fears are just washed away! I'm extremely looking forward to this game, the gameplay; the graphics all look very nice. The release date couldn't come sooner....

this game will be sooo awesome *tears in eyes T_T* i liked wind waker too, but it was not the same... ocarina of time = best zelda ever, and i hope twilight princess will top it :P

Haha, Miyamoto's noticed the standard/inverted analog control debate too. My brother and I have a lot of arguments about that, because he keeps messing with the mouse controls when I let him use my computer. I dare say a Wii controller would have made Shadow of the Colossus a hell of a lot easier, too.

Link has an earring. That's new.

Speaking of Twilight Princess, do you guys know if the game will be launching alongside the Wii this fall? Because a poster at the G.T (Game Trailers) forums thinks that the game isn't.

Helloween May 16, 2006 09:34 PM

According to Reggie and the Nintendo E3 press conference, it will be launched alongside Wii in two formats, one for Gamecube, and one for Wii.

nanstey May 17, 2006 09:31 PM

What really shocked me, although maybe I shouldn't be, is how the Goron in the article looked. Armor riveted into the rock on his back, the clog like boots - wow. This is one Zelda they are unquestionalby gearing towards the more adult gamers, if that picture is any indication. I can't wait to see how the Zoras and Deku scrubs look...

Helloween May 17, 2006 09:35 PM

That may be a specific Goron Character, like Darmani, or Darunia. The amount of detail in that picture automatically makes me think that, but i could be wrong.

If you're right, and this is the basic look for a Goron in TP, then wow.

Actually if you've seen all the trailers there are normal looking Gorons too... so this one looks to be special.
Spoiler:
turned evil by the Twilight perhaps

Majoras Mask is better.

Majoras Mask is better i dont think so and
according to nearly every gaming site in the world including gamespot the Ocarina Of time is perfect

SouthJag May 18, 2006 02:31 AM

Whew, another Nintendo zealot. Yikes. And starting a civil war too? Yikes.

It's true that a lot of people deem Ocarina of Time to be one of the best Zelda games in history, however a lot of people disagree too -- just go find a copy of this month's Game Informer and flip to page 38, the "Sacred Cow" article. I know plenty of people who think that both Majora's Mask and Link to the Past, hell even the original, are all better than Ocarina of Time.

Yeah, that probably is one particular character, but it'd be cool to see them all with some type of armor on. Regardless of that though, it will still be really cool to see the other races in Twilight Princess. The Zora have always been a personal favorite, espcially in Major's Mask since you could, you know, be one.

Nintendo 4 life May 18, 2006 02:58 AM

there are a couple faults in MAJORA'S MASK such as
Epona was always scared of link as a child
u cant become a adult
you lose all your items each day
the storyline at the start of the game doesnt seem like a big deal
bad way to stop being a shurb

And that's exactly the reason why she comes when Link play's Epona's song.

You lose the temporary items when a new circle begins and they are really easy to stock up again.

It's more mysterious than OoT. Does any Zelda need Ganon to have a good story?

Bad thing I don't know what the hell a shurb is. But I'm sure I could've been able to disprove that argument, too.

HostileCreation May 18, 2006 11:20 AM

"If you're right, and this is the basic look for a Goron in TP, then wow."

It's not, as Grub pointed out. The second trailer had you fist-fighting a regular looking Goron (along the lines of Darunia).
This Goron is a special case, and is in the latest trailer (from this E3). Seem to be some sort of boss or miniboss.

Link's Awakening is the best Zelda game, and Wind Waker is more fun than Ocarina of Time (which is slow as a sloth trying to move through cold molasses). But then I liked Wind Waker, music and everything. I just wish they hadn't rushed release.

I'm interested in what will have happened to the Zora in this game. There's obviously a reason they haven't been shown yet (and I think someone pretty much confirmed they'd be in it).

The_Griffin May 18, 2006 03:08 PM

But the question is will they be the Zora from OoT onward, or from the originals to Link's Awakening?

I think that it'll be the latter, myself. It would fit in with the darker theme, if nothing else.

RushJet1 May 18, 2006 03:38 PM

sorry if someone has posted links and i've missed it, but here are high res scans of the egm mag.

*hides in corner*

Nintendo 4 life May 18, 2006 05:13 PM

in ocorina of time when you play Epona's song she is still scared of link.
A shurb is the thing you become at the start of game
ganon is the life blood of zelda

Helloween May 18, 2006 05:14 PM

I think i enjoy Majora's Mask more than Ocarina of time, but only slightly. Ocarina had some memorable temples, and i must've played through it at least 12 times, but Majora's Mask is more intricate, and really lets you get in to the world around you moreso. Pretty much my only gripe with Majora's Mask is that it's too short. And my big Gripe with Ocarina is that you have to carrie each and every single Ruppee you collect with you.

Hopefully TP will top them both.

I do believe you mean Shrub.

This isn't even a reason to hate Majora's Mask, if you find that stupid, then why aren't you complaining about how he got turned into one in the first place?
