Sigh, alright, I'll keep using Lezard to lvl 45. Is this another "Aries" situation we're dealing with, or he just packs his bags and says to hell with Silmeria/Alicia, I have mystina to hit on.

Whatever, I'll find out sooner or later.

Now I'm at Audoula Temple, I think where you're on the bridge and you see a nice castle in the background. I'm at about level 10 to 12 for my primary characters. My new Einherjar really don't have any experience as of yet, sitting their poor asses at level 1.

Aeris situation as in he'll die? Isn't he appearing in VP1? I mean, since this is a prequel and all so he probably won't die. I've never played 1 but I learned about that from Radiata Story. There is a certain guest character and a special boss fight.

[edit] Also, can anyone scan the guide and upload it? ;_________;

Forsety Oct 1, 2006 12:50 PM

Explaining about Lezard would spoil too much of the game. VP2 is not "just a sequel", though...

Andrew Evenstar Oct 1, 2006 01:34 PM

I have a question for you guys.

I haven't played VP for the psx, and considering this is a prequel, do you think it would be fine to just play this one first? Or do you recommend me playing the psx one first?

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 1, 2006 01:47 PM

Play the original first, if possible. Like I said before, certain plot twists lose their impact without knowledge from the original game. Plus there's a lot of spoilers about the first in this.

If you can't, though, it won't ruin the experience. It might be kind of interesting to play the first afterwards, just because you can appreciate certain characters a lot more.

Regarding creating Items at the shops, how to deal with them

You have to first sell the materials of the item you wanna make to the shop before they can make them, and then to make the ????? appear with names, you have to buy enough stuff from them and earn a good relationship with the shop before the item names and selections can appear for you.

Just for people who were wondering.

On Gfaqs there's seem to be a list of permanent missable items, anyone know any items that must be gotten in a certain chapter?

More like Aeris where X person will just leave the party under various circumstances for good.

Also, I didn't know you had to see the items to the shops to get the stuff, good thing I know now!

I have a feeling this is what Forsety said, but I'm browsing with only a keyboard and have no idea how to open a tab like that without a mouse.

My apologies. Didn't know about that. Either way I hate leveling up a character so much only to have THAT happen... I personally won't bother with the items.

Spatula Oct 1, 2006 04:44 PM

So has anyone been able to get their mits on a copy of the guide yet? I've still pestered quite a few of the EB here and they say they probably will have it next Wednesday - a full week after the release mind you. >_>

Seriously now.

I got mine on Friday, Spats. They had a single copy and WHAM. All Deni's motherfuckers.

God damn, what the hell. OH YEAH PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT VP2, SO LET'S ONLY STOCK 1 COPY. Fucking EB games.

Also, the lack of pre-orders makes me somewhat sad, I asked how many preorders they got for VP2, six preorders in total, including mine.
Then I asked about FFXII preorders, like fifty fucking preorders. I mean, sure whenever you say “FINAL FANTASY” – then everyone basically goes into RPG orgy mode, but mention VALKYRIE PROFILE, and they might think of some cheap ass action fighter title, makes me sad. It’s like Evangelion (everybody knows this) vs. Patlabor (fucking 10 fold better than Eva, in my mind, but so many ignorant people).

I'm looking forward to FFXII, but then it basically over shadows all that is VP2.
Meh, it's all from SqaureEnix anyways so they'll get revenue either way.

Well, what can we expect?

Also, I’m thinking of trying to hunt for a guide for VP1, but that’s impossible. Would you say it’s wise to get a copy of the VP Lenneth guide for me to use for VP1, since well, they’re essentially the exact same game, minus the cut scenes?

You were right Deni, this guide (both VP1 and 2) is fucking phantom.

I bought the VP1 guide (Lenneth, PSP version) the other day. It works perfectly for the PSX game. I absolutely endorse it.

Vash Oct 1, 2006 05:47 PM

I've never played VP1, but I'm loving VP2! I'm at some rained out forest temple, and my main party is Alicia, Rufus, Adonis (one of three Einheriar [SP?] that I've bothered to level), and Arngrim, all of whom are level 20+. Leveling them in Chateau Obsession right now, because of the EXPx2 sealstone :)

Spoiler:
Question, Arngrim and Lezard are in VP1 right? VP2 is a prequal taking place 100+ years before VP1...so how would Arngrim and Lezard still be alive for VP1? Do they become Einheriar and are summoned by Lenneth later? Don't give too much away, just tell me if they're Einheriar, if that's what they become.

Spatula Oct 1, 2006 06:40 PM

I'm about 15 hours into the game and still having lots of fun. At first I didn't like the whole mix and match stuff to form new skills, but now it's not so bad, I actually like it!

Deni, man, that's good news, I'll look into that, since I saw a copy the other day for the Lenneth guide!

I'm still at that Audoula Temple and I can't really seem to net any good items from the battles like "get X material". Do you need some special combo attack to net those?

I'm sorry if I sounded rude-- I just wanted to get the point across.

And if it makes you feel any better, your effort levelling him isn't wasted once you beat a certain boss in Seraphic Gate.

Spatula Oct 1, 2006 08:45 PM

After defeating the fourth boss in Audoula Temple, I now have a precious item that supposedly helps me get 100 hits better, and it works! Now, as long as I land all the hits, I can get into Soul Break mode.
Still, it's sad that I haven't taken time to read over the game manual, since I don't know what triggers the Break were all your team goes psycho as much as they can when the AP bar starts flashing. I guess you have to land a critical hit in mid air, because whenever this event occurs, I'm not at 100% yet.

Manny Biggz Oct 1, 2006 10:28 PM

The tutorial said it happens when you break off a certain body part. I dunno if there's certain things that makes this occure more often, but I do know that there's a skill to boost the chance.

Jujubee Oct 1, 2006 11:23 PM

Can someone post the stats for the Tri-Emblem? I missed it because I didn't find out about the stupid poem quest until Chapter 5. Why do games keep doing this to me? I try to master them without using guides and theres always some bogus, one-time only sidequest that no normal person would find out about on their own. Also, is it the same Tri-Emblem you get from the Seraphic Gate bosses?

[Progress: Chapter 6, Alicia Lv.54, 39.40H] The two new characters you get in the beginning of Ch.6 aren't going to leave again are they? >_>

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 2, 2006 12:05 AM

Chapter 6? That would be the last chapter, right? The one that starts at the tower.

Heh, four characters join in that chapter, but only one will be around for the final boss.

Slayer X Oct 2, 2006 12:12 AM

GenericBadass: Not that I really care all that much but next time could you use spoiler bars when giving details?

Spatula Oct 2, 2006 12:26 AM

Oh what, I just found out I'm already
Spoiler:
half way through the game? ;____;

At any rate, I'm finding some of the seal orbs in Audoula Temple ridicoulous to get. Like take the one just near the save point.

Spoiler:
I know you have to probably crystalize and transport with one of the flying ones on the inside of the barrier, but still once I do that, I can't seem to get out.

Like with what?

I'll just leave it to Rydia or whoever regardless, just because I don't understand at all what constitutes as a spoiler on these forums. I've been censored and censured on one occasion for mentioning that one game's mini-map becomes more detailed when you progress.

Slayer X Oct 2, 2006 01:00 AM

The fact that three of the new characters in chapter 6 die. Unless you meant something else by "only four will be around for the final boss". In which case would not be a spoiler I suppose and therefore... well you can see where I'm going with this. Whatever though, I was just saying, listen to me or not, I can't make you.

Anyhow,
Spoiler:
made it to Chapter 3 and man it gets tuff at this point. Time for some leveling up.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 2, 2006 01:06 AM

Uh, die? Definitely taken that the wrong way.

Cetra Oct 2, 2006 01:13 AM

Ug, so are all sidequest areas only open for a limited period in the story? It seems the mine area in chapter three is no longer available because I decided to finish the water temple first.
