Congrats to LSU...

Great win in New Orleans
EXTREMELY LUCKY to be in the BCS National Title Game.

and I think the crowd basically summed it up at the end of the game with the chant of "SEC SEC SEC"

russ Jan 7, 2008 11:47 PM

Well, the game is all but over at this point; 38-24 LSU with about a minute to go. At least OSU didn't give up. I mean it must be discouraging to play an SEC team in the title game, but they didn't lie down and take a beating, which I respect.

TIGERS WIN TIRGERS WIN TIGERS WIN, I AM DRUNK AND THE TIGERS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trigunnerz Jan 8, 2008 12:14 AM

Congrats LSU. So much for rooting for OSU.

One bowl game that was truly fun to watch was Michigan vs Florida. At least Michigan did something good out of Big Ten.

Go Trojans for destroying Illinois! Too bad we couldn't play Georgia.

What an interesting year it was.

Here we come 2008!

Slash Jan 8, 2008 12:23 AM

I've heard rumors they want to do away with the BCS

BlueMikey Jan 8, 2008 12:45 AM

Lots of people do, but it won't be.

5 BCS bowls, 4 routs. Worst bowl season ever.

Squib Jan 8, 2008 01:22 AM

It was such a weak season and an even weaker bowl season. Hopefully next year we'll have a Pac-10 team against an SEC team in the national championship game. Obviously, none of the other conferences can match up to the SEC.

Exactly. Pac-10 > SEC! :p

That'd definitely be a lot more intriguing. I actually felt really bad for Illinois in the Rose Bowl. Yeah it was good for them that they got to play in the Rose Bowl, but their faces were just hard to look at without feeling some pity.

I think that next year, Georgia will be the team to beat in the SEC, if not the entire nation.

Yambo. Don't tell me that wouldn't be the most successful 3 weeks in the history of sports.

BlueMikey is the president of Georgia.

LSU did not deserve to be in that championship game in the first place. There were more deserving teams that should've been in there rather than those cocky bastards. Now I have to hope that New England doesn't win the whole thing in the NFL or else this will have been a bad year for football as far as championships go. Georgia, Kansas, or VA Tech would've been much better choices.

I just read the article above and while I still think an 8-playoff game is too short, the UGA president has the right frame of mind. People were complaining about my idea of 32 teams as it was taxing to the college players...thus, you shorten the amount of games in a season. His plan however, calls for a shortening of the season and the extension of playoffs by 2 more weeks...and who doesn't want more college football playoffs? Even LSU's coach is in agreement so I have to at least give him props for that.

Now when the hell do the contracts that govern the BCS expire?

Slash Jan 8, 2008 05:36 PM

I'd have rather seen Missouri in the BCS Championship game. That Missouri vs Florida game was just amazing to watch.

In 2011. God bless.

If I had to make predictions about some of the rankings after watching the bowl games...

1 - LSU
2 - Missouri
3 - USC
4 - Georgia
5 - Kansas
6 - WV
7 - Oklahoma
8 - VT

Thats about as far down as I can go

SuperSonic Jan 8, 2008 11:23 PM

Looks like UGA's president isn't the only one who feels the BCS sucks. Taken from the ESPN.com front page:

Quote:

No offense, LSU fans. Your Tigers finished No. 1 ... and deservingly so. But if the '07 season proved anything, it's that the system that placed LSU in position to play for a national title is flawed.

I believe the BCS contracts are renewed every 4 years, but the Rose Bowl has the Pac-10 and Big Ten (and ABC) wrapped up through 2014.

SuperSonic Jan 9, 2008 01:18 PM

Didn't they suggest naming the playoff matchups as different bowls so they could still have the bowl games? If that's the case, then there's the way around the Rose Bowl.
