Nope, I can't even BS a theme in Dani California and force a fit into DN. However, if it was the ending theme song, it would be pretty uplifting to hear.

Right you are. Dani California's presence in the movie extends as far as being included in the credits and that is that. Manatsu no Yoru no Yume, the "other song," appears in just one scene of the movie (as background music, I might add).

Arkhangelsk Jun 26, 2006 02:37 PM

Somehow I don't find Dani CA to be a very uplifting song. The girl's dead, after all, and the song reflects on her. For whatever reason it makes me think of apocalyptic future-punk... something like Tank Girl, as opposed to Japan and supernatural events.

But that's just me.

A clip was uploaded onto Youtube from a show called Zoom In that went behind-the-scenes of filming for the 2nd movie, DEATH NOTE: the Last name.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlrEvFp5as8

It's not that revealing or spoilery, so eh. There's complete confirmation that Rem's in it, though, for those who aren't on the ball with the movies' take on things.

EDIT: DEATH NOTE beat The Da Vinci Code at the box office once again. I'm impressed.

The first ten minutes (or so) of the movie've been uploaded onto Youtube. There's nothing really amazing about the first ten minutes, so eh. It's a nice teaser, though.

Who handles the music? Japanese movie OST is better than most of hollywood movie music.:)

Kenji Kawai did the soundtrack for DN.

Actually, I prefer some of the "Hollywood movie music" to the Japanese scores. I usually go "Oh! That's a great song!" in a "Hollywood movie" and I usually don't remember anything from a Japanese movie's score.

Well.. we've been given the first 3 voice actors for Raito,L and Ryuuku.

Akira Ishida - Gaara of the Desert , Reid Hershell, Yagami Raito
Romi Paku - Edward Elric, Nana Osaki, Temari (Naruto), Hitsugaya Toushiro, L
Kenji Nomura - Loz , Ryuku.

For Akira Ishida.. I will definately approve though i still believe it should've been Shigeru Nakahara.

The Overrated Romi Paku will play as L. What do I think? That should be ok..I guess.

Kenji Nomura.... Only know him through Loz from FF:Advent Children. Im not really impressed with him. They didn't think it through with this one . It should've been Jouji Nakata.

That is all for now.

Cirno Jul 8, 2006 06:33 PM

So long as Kenji can laugh like Ryuk, I'll be satisfied.

Temari = L. Weird, but Temari wears fishnets so I approve.

soulsteelgray Jul 8, 2006 07:53 PM

I'm not entirely familiar with Ishida's body of work, but Romi Paku as L was not was I had in mind at all. And Shidou Nakamura won't be Ryuk for the anime? For shame. From the moment I heard Ryuk's line at the end of the first trailer, Nakamura was Ryuk for me.

This is gonna be weird.

Outlaw Jul 9, 2006 07:06 PM

Acording to many other sites, The cast that ANN has up has not been confermed by any Japanese site....I don't even think it was confermed by Jump yet. Aparently the "voice cast" came off of some Chinese message board and some how ended up on ANN.

So what I'm basicly trying to say is...that isn't the final voice cast. So don't get your hopes up...

soulsteelgray Jul 9, 2006 08:36 PM

Oh, good. I really don't want anyone other than Nakamura to be Ryuk.

chato Jul 9, 2006 09:07 PM

Thank God. 'cause Romi Paku is overrated and can be boring sometimes >.>. She's liked mostly by a bunch of fangirls that crave that shounen-ai bs.

chato Aug 4, 2006 05:59 PM

Well then, its been a very long time now, correct?

Well the confirmed air date for the anime is the 3rd of October. There are two images this forum member found from another place. I'll upload it now. The animation is done by MADHOUSE Prod.

Hey. Not bad. Now this is promising to me.

YES! The Death-Gods had heard my prayers of an anime version!!
*goes back and workship a bronze statue of Ryuuku*

I still want to see the movie dammit >_<

Outlaw Aug 5, 2006 02:10 AM

I'm kind of exited about this, since it's done by madhouse, my fears of an anime version probaly won't come to life. I can rest easy now...

I also have a feeling whenever it gets licenced, that Geneon will probaly get second dibs on the anime and/or viz'll sell it to them due to the fact they're usualy the ones that pick up Madhouse series (Trigun, Gungrave, Paranoia Agent, ETC.) anyway.

Dee Aug 5, 2006 02:36 AM

What I don't understand is why L can't be voiced by a guy? I wasn't impressed by Edward Elric because there were times when it seemed quite forced.

So far from that scan the art seems to follow the mangaka's pretty well (unlike in Hikaru no Go), which is good. Obata is probably one of the best mangaka's I've seen.

chato Aug 5, 2006 05:05 AM

Im pretty sure L will be voiced by someone else. Paku Romi and the other seiyuu's announced were just fake and made up by a fanboy/girl who loves Paku Romi.

The SJ people are unleashing a massive load of animes this fall. Awesome.

I found two image from a lj community of "Another Note" . I hope someone translates the damn thing.

The story sets off before Death Note. It takes place when Naomi and L worked together to solve the LA BB murder case. Anyone know anything about it? Honestly, I was expecting L to be a little younger but whatever. Its another L arc for the L fans. And..thats a good thing.

Well...if you think about it...L would only really be like what 16. Because in the manga it said the BB muder case took place in 2002 and the main DN storyline started in '03/'04 area. People's looks don't change in a 'year'....even fictional ones.

I have a feeling that Viz'll bring it over in a few months to next year like the did with the FMA novels. I mean, Death Note has proven to be quite popular over here after all...

Also, maybe the novel will have like an epilogue with a answer to the 'what happend to Naomi's body after she killed herself?' question that has been plageing the fandom since volume two of the manga. I mean even if Light made her kill herself where no one could find her body, you at least would think someone would find her body sometime years later.

chato Aug 11, 2006 04:46 PM

It always bothered me from the beginning is to why it never hit Aizawa in the head when he passed right through Naomi and Yagami.

Also. Here is an image of proof that the anime will look Superb.

Found some videos on youtube, I can only guess that they're the same band. Here's the liveEVIL and Raven loud speeeaker videos to give you an idea.

There the RAW version of DN. here's the link

http://www.rpghistory.com/-TABRIS-NO...THNOTE(632x388 DivX5).avi

umm..No Subs. Just wait for someone to make a file or something.

edit : its only the first part of the movie. the quality is pretty good but the watermark sucks. Anyway , Im sure fansub group will be subbing it sometime soon.

Outlaw Aug 30, 2006 10:38 PM

The VAs for Light and L have now been confrmed by SJ.

Mamoru Miyano - Light
Tamaki - Ouran High school host club
Riku - KH
Kiba - Wolf's Rain.

Kappei Yamaguchi - L
Inuyasha - Inuyasha
Usopp - One Piece
Ryuichi - Gravitation
Ranma - Ranma 1/2.

I must say...much better then the fake cast list....

chato Aug 30, 2006 10:57 PM

This is definately good news to me. Yamaguchi worked with fighting game characters like Jin Chonrei. So everything is swell. Still, Yagami should've been the dude who voiced Heero Yuy. Better than nothing. Im'a just enjoy the damn series. Fuck the voices.
