SuperSonic Mar 31, 2008 09:17 PM

Whoa...

Spoiler:
Despite the truthful and hilarious "You can't wrestle" chants coming from the crowd, the Great Khali and the Big Show is something that I want to see.

chato Mar 31, 2008 09:25 PM

You're missing the best part from the crowd

Spoiler:
SHOW'S GONNA KILL YOU! 10x lol [/size]

maaaan I was JUST as shocked when I heard that. lol

I'm getting more and more behind Santino. I swear, whoever writes his stuff is classic. "Did you have dinner with him? Did you have kibbles with the bits." "I should have been in the bank money match or the Royal Battle" :tpg:

Slash Mar 31, 2008 10:45 PM

Spoiler:
That thing with Flair at the end was just...Epic...I don't think there is any other word you can use to describe it.

SuperSonic Mar 31, 2008 11:01 PM

Spoiler:
Well said Slash, but unfortunately this will also lead to another buildup story. :( It's obvious Batista is gonna go after HBK.

Slash Mar 31, 2008 11:09 PM

Spoiler:
Seems like it but I guess Taker and McMahon came out after the show went off the air. But I understand why they didn't show him on TV so that Taker wouldn't have to nationally break kayfabe. Hell, Even Festus stayed in character during the Flair tribute.

But WE ALL know we'll still see Flair on TV.

Winter Storm Apr 1, 2008 12:07 AM

Spoiler:
Uh..yea I thought the same thing with Batista, but it's not going to make a bit a sense, but whatever.

Man... hearing that four horsemen theme took me many years back. Was missing Steve McMichael but that's ok. It was a good long run - he can rest his aching body now.

Slash Apr 1, 2008 12:24 AM

Spoiler:
Was anyone else able to feel like...the true epic drama and emotion during the Flair retirement ceremony?

SimDaddyGT Apr 1, 2008 12:25 AM

Spoiler:
I was just rather surprised to see Kane out there applauding and near-crying. Not saying it was a bad move, just seemed odd.

And I almost cried, but I just couldn't really bring out the tears. Don't get me wrong, much like all of you, I loved Flair, even when he was heeling it up with Evolution 5 years ago. I'd have to say my favorite Flair match will always be the 1992 Royal Rumble, where he lasted over 62 minutes to win it all.

Slash Apr 1, 2008 12:31 AM

first off gt...nice name. lol

Spoiler:

And I'm with you there. I never actually thought I would feel any type of emotion because I know its all storylined...but that Flair thing was pure RAW emotion.

okay...apparently mine got flipped too...

Winter Storm Apr 1, 2008 12:43 AM

The whole board flipped >_> It some usual GFF crazyness going on.

Slash Apr 1, 2008 01:07 AM

LawL At HHH
Spoiler:

Is this still on?! *shocked look* okay...I guess it is.

Face HHH is so much more entertaining than Heel HHH.

Spoiler:

I think that McMahon should have let the roster break Kayfabe for the Flair thing...I would have loved to see Taker come out and show is appreciation.

mortis Apr 1, 2008 06:15 PM

So here is an article about the end-of-wrestlemania events. I won't paraphrase this one because I basically have already had what the article said in a previous post:

Fireworks injure dozens at Wrestlemania - Yahoo! News

Not the way to end their biggest eventof the year.

mortis Apr 3, 2008 04:15 AM

As was stated, Taker and McMahon came to the ring after the show ended.

Here is a link that shows what happened afterwards:

Bigupload.com - Ric Flair Raw Tribute After Raw Went Off The Air

It is really amazing that his career is finally over AND the WWE let him go out on a good note. Save for Trish Stratus, how many feel-good moments have they gave with wrestlers who have contributed so much?

I still think back to when I saw him in 94, and thought that his career was over (he had that career Vs career with Hogan and lost). Of course he came back, which I was happy for as they showed a video of his career up to that point and I felt I was missing out. I'm glad that I was able to see roughly the latter half of his career.

Ultimately, I forsee Flair coming on occasionly for T.V. appearances. I don't forsee him becoming the GM again, a manager, or an announcer. Then again, this will truly be a test for Flair because this is truly the first time he will be gone from wrestling. Yes, he was gone for a few months last year to sort things out, and yes his last few months have been mainly T.V. appearances, and yes he has been out up to a year with previous injuries (albeit it was when he was much younger and had more 'energy' that made it hard for him to just sit around), but this will be the first time that he is truly away from it.

I do forsee the possibility of him coming back for one match. If he does, it will be Mania 25. Dunno who'd he face. Maybe Michaels in a rematch if Michaels did a heel turn (unlikely, I forsee Batista doing so). Maybe Triple H as Trips was the other guy Flair would have liked to have ended his career with. Sorta a way for him to do both. And that would be good for Trips as it would show that he is letting the future talent step up as he steps aside from the Mania main event which he has been apart of for the last several years since Mania 20 (excluding last years due to his injury).

Slash Apr 3, 2008 11:59 AM

I think Flair stated in an interview that hes going to be in more of a company role doing PR or something like that.

YouTube Video
here is a better version of the video and i don't know if its just me or is big upload just very very slow.

Winter Storm Apr 4, 2008 01:59 AM

Starcade DVDs, especially the one where he fought Steamboat(but that was at Clash of the Champions I think) and it ended in a draw is going to be selling for a ton of money on ebay.

Heh, I remember I found a video store that had these years ago and I was in heaven. Too bad they were old tapes that I couldn't bootleg. I think '90 and '85 are the only one I still need to see. I loved the tournament structure in 89. Main event for 84 sucked...They stopped it at like 5 minutes in because Dusty was bleeding. Bah...

And yes, you're think of a Clash. It was actually a win for Steamboat after 54 minutes and the controversy (both men's shoulders were down) led to Flair winning the belt back at the next PPV. Maybe you're think of the 45 minute time limit draw with Sting (which was an amazing match, BTW). This was the very first Clash.

Winter Storm Apr 4, 2008 03:17 AM

Nah I was definitely thinking Flair/Steamboat. It was "THE DOUBLE CHICKEN WING!!" as so hilariously shouted by Tony. Ricky was one of those guys where winning the title was more of a chore than anything :(. But by far all my favorite Flair matches were the ones with Vader.

mortis Apr 4, 2008 08:55 AM

Well, I have heard they are making a Starcade Anthology/DVD box set or something like that.

The Flair/Steamboat match is actually on the Ric Flair DVD. A fun match to watch.

Some other fun matches with Flair would be:
Flair Vs Savage (WCW battles, especially in Jan/Feb 2006 where the title bounced between them), Flair Vs Undertaker (Mania 18 I believe), Flair Vs Triple H (2003), Flair Vs Edge: TLC, Flair Vs Angle, Flair Vs Windham (Clash of Champions).

There are, of course, several others but those matches are fun to watch. Seeing him against Angle, Edge, and Trips were all awesome because it showed Flair could really go when he needed to.

dagget Apr 7, 2008 12:31 AM

Apparently the incest angle they had with Paul Burchill is getting dropped. Since WWE wants to go back and target a younger crowd again. Which means (if there is anything that should fucking go right in the wrestling world) the pirate gimmick may come back.

Slash Apr 7, 2008 12:38 AM

Where'd you find this info out?

mortis Apr 7, 2008 12:44 AM

So the cycle continues. What was it? 99? 2000 that they tried this angle then put it to rest a few weeks later? At least this time the angle lasted a few WEEKS before (thankfully) ending.

Given that the fans reminded him repeatedly about his pirate gimmick, you'd think it would be in the WWE's best interests to bring him back as that character.

Oh, and I am taking it that if this be the case, we won't be seeing any 'heelish Cena raps' from 2003 anytime soon.

Slash Apr 7, 2008 01:03 AM

I guess considering they haven't been on TV...for a good solid month or so I guess you could assume its getting dropped

mortis Apr 7, 2008 01:06 AM

Don't worry, they will be back. HIs manager will be his 'girlfriend' and he'll say, "My name is 'Frad'", and he'll wear drunks with a smiling pirate on them.
