I like how I randomly walked into a Best Buy yesterday 6PM and found one. They only had 60GBs too! I laugh at all the people who camped for a week to get one before the end of the year.
|
miles your lucky lol i have had a hell of a time trying to obtain a 60 gig ps3...
i cant belive they wouldnt do a voucher for me for there next shipment of 60 gig ps3's T.T well after my 20 sells i am going to end up paying 300$ more for a 60 gig on ebay then they are worth. only thing i dont get is why where all the good games pushed back tell march or april of next year (lair, fatal inertia, eye of judgement, ect.) |

NNTB, my guess is that they pushed the games back to around March to make the console that more appealing in Europe. It was, literally, the least they could do after that massive delay. |
Not only because the system comes out in Europe till march but also there will be plenty more consoles sold/available in the NA market by that time too therefore more software will sell then then it would at this time. Finally I'm sure that a lot of developers actually needed that time in order to complete the games they're working on, and if it costs me two months of waiting to get stable framerates and less bugs, then I'm all for it.
|
The machine also looks more appealing due to improved firmware, smoothed out wrinkles, etc.. Basically, Sony's padding the very difficult reality that most Europeans will have to swallow: This is an expensive machine, and they're going to try and justify the cost as much as possible.

Just wanted to share a very fun multiplayer option in Resistence.
Create a game with the following parameters: Sniper Rifle only Hedgehog Grenade Infinite Ammo One Hit Kills At least up to 20 players A setting with high areas (like the Rooftops) Experience true tension. I had a ton of fun the other night (dodge a sniper shot, dash up to the guy and pow, melee hit). |
I tried some PS2 and PS1 games for the heck of it. Star Ocean 2 worked fine. Suikoden 5 seemed like it loaded a little bit faster. As soon as I popped in Tales of the Abyss it looked like pure crap. The anime scene looked weird and pixelated. The in game text and graphics look like shit. What gives? Has anyone else tried Tales of the Abyss on a PS3?
|
well there's a problem with ps2 on ps3, most of the time all ps2 game look like crap... we're still waiting on a update for this...
personally I just have a regular tv so this problem doesn't affect me much because I don,t really see the difference (but yes there's one but not that apparent on a regular tv) but if I can see some jaggy here and there on a regular tv I can't imagine are crappy it could look on an HDTV >.< and yes I see some pixel on the TotA viddeo, but I saw them in the FFX CG too... and yes a lot of aliasing in-game too ... |
-___-
Sony better fix this soon. I was planning on finishing some of my Ps2 games on here because my ps2 console is old and gets disc read errors randomly. |

Wait, didn't they just fix this, or at least announce a patch was on the way? I could have sworn...
|
They're constantly fixing it, there's already been three patches, all of which have fixed many issues. Me personally though I have a 720P display and there have been very few instances where I've had any real issues with any of my PS2 games.
By the way I have 125 PS2 games with a few also out on lend. However depending what type of games you play there may be some variation to experiances. (I play mostly RPG, Music & Fighting games) |
Before anyone here explodes for no reason. Question (cause I wont bother reading old posts) ^^;.
I'm trying to update the latest firmware for ps3 using just my memory stick (from the psp) . Where do I put it and in what folder? thanks. |
You need the 60 gig version if you want to plug in the memory stick :P (I"m assuming you don't :o) and it should be in the front if you do
|
well just go to system update with your memory stick in the ps3 slot for it and choose Update via Storage media, and it should scan any memory stick or sd card or hdd if there's an update to install
|
I do have the 60 gig ;p.
Inhert : I already put the ps3 update file in the memory stick. Didn't do anything. Edit: Yep, didnt find the file. |
|
Just so everyone knows the PS2 system information capability for the PS3 is now available on the PLAYSTATION Network for thoes who are interested. This gives thoes who have PS2 games that have HDD support access to the PS3's HDD.
|
yeah the last update was especially for those game that use the HDD like FFXI
|
Oooo Very good news. When I eventually buy a ps3 I won't have to deal with the hideous loading times of Metal Saga (it has hdd support).
|
It also makes FFXI playable and ResidentEvil Outbreak 1 & 2 installable to decrease loading time by half for all 6 people who still play it.

Question for you HDTV owners (LCD, mostly). Do you experience some minor banding while playing Resistance (transparent horizontal lines that appear while you move the camera; mostly shows up in grayish areas like indoor buildings or the sky above)? I've experienced banding in that and the NBA 07 demo, but nothing noticable in Genji 2 or Lemmings.
|
do you mean like some large transparent lines that goes through the bottom of the screen to the upper screen?
because if it's that, I experience it even on a regular TV, but it's only noticeable like you said on a gray or dark background color. I don't really see them in game, but if there's some black screen then sometime I see them. I also see them alot in the ps3 menu. I'm not sur what could cause this... |
Hmmm... I've never experianced this. Are you guys running on 1080 or 720? I'm running on 720p and the only thing like this that I've ever expeianced is in Call of Duty 2 & 3 where there's a line in the center of the screen that you can see for when objects pass they magically become rendered, however this doesn't sound like the same thing that you guys are having. If I find anything out I'll be sure to post.
