Mother-fucking Mario Galaxy! AND EXCITE TRUCK!

I swear, best E3 ever!!

Wall Feces May 9, 2006 12:54 PM

I wonder if Mario will be playable tomorrow... I'm interested to see how you control Mario this time around.

Matt May 9, 2006 12:57 PM

It's too bad they didn't unveil more about their online plans.
That WiiConnect 24 sounded kind of neat, but more or less gimmicky.
"Friends can send me a gift if my Wii is connected to teh intearnet? Uh, can't they just email it to me?"

Something I read over at Joystiq:
Quote:

Hate to inject a little bit of reality into the conversation, but Red Steel's visual quality lacks the sex and sparkle of the Sony demos yesterday -- take away the controller, and the game could run on an original Xbox or PlayStation 2. Nintendo would of course remind us that judging a game by what's displayed on screen is a mistake, but the game industry has tended to judge games visually for many years. Nintendo can't change the critical criteria overnight. They're going to have their work cut out for them on this front if gamers prove intractable in their lust for next-gen graphics.
How true.
I wonder how the masses will react to their games not looking as realistic as they do on consoles 2-3 times the price?

Yep, you get what you pay for. Nintendo is clearly targeting a different, and mostly untapped market though, and much like the DS vs PSP, graphics don't necessarily translate to sales when money is involved.

Malmer May 9, 2006 01:07 PM

I just watched the video over at IGN where Fran uses the controller to play Red Steel while giving input, and it sounds very good to me.

Red Steel at the conference seemed a bit "tight" in the movements, but he might have been a bit too cautious, or the sensitivity might have been tuned down, because it's pretty sensitive and maneuverable while Fran's using it.

Wii <3

SketchTheArtist May 9, 2006 01:09 PM

Wow. Seriously, watching this and the various games (Wii Sports for exemple) made feel like a kid again!

I can't wait to get my hands on one! Plus, tell me that was freakin' PILOTWINGS!!

map car man words telling me to do things May 9, 2006 01:10 PM

I absolutely loved how they had crappy players demoing the games, made it much more believable it was actual gameplay. I was laughing my ass off in delight when he kept shooting with the shotgun and missing.

Also, the second a downloadable video is available, I want links.

EDIT:

I thought I saw a renamed Ouendan amidst the DS game lineup, but someone in chat said no and I'm doubting they knew what they were talking about. Can anyone confirm this...........

FatsDomino May 9, 2006 01:14 PM

I really wish they would have gotten pricing and release date info out of the way and I wish information on pricing and how the virtual console works was revealed and the lack of smash bros (which is fine if Sakurai needs more time b/c I'd rather have a masterpiece than a weak launch title) but other than that I was pretty much blown away. I like how the audience wasn't bored like the Sony conference. It was a fun conference and Nintendo came out of it looking really good unlike Sony and their dull gameplay/movies and massive wallet destroyer pricing announcement coupled with retarded dual console release. I hope we get a lot more information on specifics soon.

And holy shit, DS, why must you be so god damn awesome?! It's like I'm getting the snot beaten out of me with all the good punches they constantly pull with it. Yoshi's Island 2, Starfox DS, US version of Ouendan. DS alone is coming really freaking close to being the second golden age of gaming just on its own.

Prime Blue May 9, 2006 01:14 PM

In all honesty: Was the last secret revealed? Is it the Wii Connect 24 service? Because that wouldn't be too groundbreaking.
Nintendo said the last secret affects the way you play the games. Didn't they reveal it because they are afraid of Sony copying their idea?

RABicle May 9, 2006 01:14 PM

I saw a girl naked the other day and It wasn't as good as that conference.

Grubdog May 9, 2006 01:14 PM

That was the greatest E3 conference of all time. Miyamoto / Iwata / Reggie are AWESOME :D

Red Steel looked ABSOLUTELY STUNNING in the presentation. I didn't expect them to match the competitors grapihcs, but Nintendo has everything covered.

Super Mario Galaxy = My most anticipated game. Holy shit.

So many things to digest...

Soldier May 9, 2006 01:15 PM

So where can I find some trailers of all this awesomeness. Gametrailers doesn't seem to have any wii-related movies.

Grubdog May 9, 2006 01:16 PM

Yoshis Island 2 holy crap!

TheReverend May 9, 2006 01:18 PM

What I luved is that I might be able to play and enjoy games with people.

Like real people that aren't uber-dorks. Like my parents or just people I know. I mean obviously ANYBODY can play that tennis game. I mean you can topspin or back spin by twisting the controller?! How f-ng sweat is that!!!!!

And yes some of the graphics were so-so. But did you see Fire Emblem!?!?! Holy crap! And FF:CC was beautiful too.

So much to be excited about.

I thought it was the mic/speaker in the wiimote? I could be wrong, but I thought that was what they said during the Zelda thing..

I'd really like to know about this too because the game was looking really awesome.

Ah, thanks. :) Then I just missed that statement while I was away.

SketchTheArtist May 9, 2006 01:21 PM

They said the speaker and Connect 24 were some of the secrets of the console.

Personally, with all of that and the Virtual console with NES, SNES, N64, GENESIS and TURBO GRAPH-X games, I'm a happy camper.

Try this for starters: http://revolution.ign.com/articles/705/705854p1.html

Gametrailers.com is down here, maybe they're updating?

Starfox DS. The arwing looked a lot like in StarFox 64.
They better get it right this time :eyebrow:

Kilroy May 9, 2006 01:22 PM

I hope they're making it (Kirby) for Wii, because I'm sure as hell am gonna buy one. (You know, along side PS3)
I'd buy Wii for Mario alone. All those multiplayer games (like WiiSports) didn't appeal much to me.

But I sure wish they had announced a price and an exact launch date.

Para May 9, 2006 01:23 PM

Yoshi's Island 2 brings so many awesome memories that I have to buy a DS for that...

Overall the conference was a lot more interesting than Sony's. I rather felt a little bored of sony's conference.

Matt May 9, 2006 01:27 PM

Thanks for the screens Grubdog.
I can only hope the music is as good as the visuals are.

Infernal Monkey May 9, 2006 01:28 PM

TOP VIDEO, SURPRISE. New Paper Mario game for GameCube OUT OF NOWHERE.

Soldier May 9, 2006 01:29 PM

I didn't even finish Paper Mario 2. :(

Matt May 9, 2006 01:30 PM
