That javelin thing sounds very useful for headquarters games. Kind of like C4ing the capture point except a million times more awesome.
I haven't seen any reload glitching. It seems like all of the guns are "considered" reloaded deep enough into the reload animation this time around that it has become a non-issue. I do see a fair few fast shooting FALs, but it isn't nearly as rampant as fully auto G3 and desert eagles were in the last game. I still say that host advantage in this game is on par with Gears. If you are host, and even somewhat competent, you will have a highly successful round. If you are a slightly above average player (like myself), and the host is not, I don't know, in the same state as you, you'll spend a lot of time wondering why you can drop half a clip into a guy and not get any hits before he turns around and one shots you. |
Witnessed a rapidfire FAL this afternoon. Everyone got to see it, as it was the round-winning kill on a game of S&D. Everyone in the game—including the people on the guy's team—started laying into the fucker.
What's the process behind this stuff, anyway? I find it hard to believe that it's only attainable with the controller I posted on the previous page. |
Luckily I haven't yet encountered serious problems online, though the Marathon, Lightweight, Commando and Tactical Knife combo is ridiculous.
Hopefully they'll have a balance patch out soon. |
Bad news, nobody!

Ahahaha. UNLIKELY.
"People we catch". uhhh. How. People they are directly playing in a game with? Of which video evidence exists? There is no record of it on their end, obviously, so uhh... These empty threats never work. Bungie does the same thing and threatens standbyers. That also accomplishes fuck all. I really wish these fear tactics worked, though. It'd be nice. |
They need some way to go back and figure out who did it so they can slam all of the people that cheated at once like Valve did with TF2.

That's basically my point, I could have phrased it better. While Bungie does carry through with the threats, the ease of circumvention of the punishment means it's not taken seriously enough to matter, so.
Either way, yeah. IW is dickwaving and it won't work in the least. |
Man, fuck all of that noise. I gave that whole "lol Javelin" thing a try the other day on Highrise with extremely hilarious results. Prepped it, walked out the front of the building, got shot, blew up and killed two people who were geometry glitching in the area above the entrance.
I love it. It's like the game has evolved into some kind of meta-warfare gimmick build/glitch weapon triangle-esque affair. Javelin beats Geometry Glitch. Geometry Glitch beats Knife. (Throwing) Knife beats Javelin. Akimbo 1887s beat everything because holy shit million foot range |
Also, I wouldn't have called exploiting a glitch in the game cheating the same way using a custom-firmware pad is, or standbying in Halo. You're not doing anything that everyone else can't do after all. Sure, it's a little unsporting but since when has good sportsmanship been even slightly apparent in any Xbox Live game? Fair enough ban people for modifying the game and getting an unfair advantage that way but playing on a broken bit of coding is the devs fault, not the players.

Bottom line: if you see someone running around with a javelin, don't kill him. Okay? Yeah, right, whatever. |
Finally got around to finishing the campaign. Played it on Veteran without turning the difficulty down once. Apparently it took me fifteen hours*. ffffffff rio :argh: There weren't really any supremely frustrating moments in the latter half of the game; last few levels were a comparative breeze.
Spoiler:
Interesting to see that Ben Heck got a shout-out in the credits. *does the game count time you spend leaving it idle on the pause screen as time played? If so, that's silly. |
Got a nuke. Yeehaw:
http://i47.tinypic.com/20z749k.jpg It felt pretty good. Tearing niggas up on Favella. Also, note the fact that I got it while faced against a clan. |

Holy shit going back to vanilla COD after using the knife shit for so long is fucking tough. I always wanna switch back after getting bullshitted.
I have learned that Sleight of Hand is pretty fucking neat though. Faster reloading AND aiming? Yes please. Never really used it since it shares the same slot as Marathon, but it's came in pretty handy for clearing areas with a silenced weapon. I miss unlimited run though. :( E: Also I learned how to get on the roof on Highrise yesterday! Team South taught me how, and although this other guy and I died about 50 combined times trying to jump properly (it's tough), we still won the match somehow. |
Tails dude I'm more than surprised you don't use Bling
btw they fixed the Javelin glitch on PS3, there was a patch yesterday |
I've come to the conclusion that the game hates me. I have reached a point where I'm moderate at the game, no longer on the bottom of the list after a match most of the time.
Even then, whoever I get teamed up with kinda suck, or the entire opposing team is already on prestige and more experienced. There was actually one point where it was a 4 on 4 match, one person on my team left right away so it was 3 on 4. Afterwords, more people started joining but they were put in the other team. By the end of the game it was 3 on 6 and this happened again in a different game. Not sure why the game decided to go retarded on matchmaking. There are even times when I join a game in progress and the team is losing and it's already at the end of the match >_>. Even when I get lucky and get 29 kills 4 deaths, someone on my team has 0 and 17 and loses the match. I thought getting better would mean more wins but that doesn't matter when the team is garbage. Other than that I finally tried spec ops online with my bro. We've been playing veteran without lowering the difficulty and it's incredibly fun. We've got 39 stars so far and it just keeps getting harder but it has some long replay value. We must have tried breach and clear like fifty times until we finally got 26 seconds on it. Hopefully they decide to release some more spec op missions through dlc. |

I think I've got one bling pro class setup at this point. It was cool at first, back when the heartbeat sensor plus silencer or holo sight was actually useful, during the first week the game was out. Now I just use it to do two weapon attachment challenges at the same time. I'm all about sleight of hand pro in normal situations, or marathon pro for S&D speed class.
I'm getting close to completing all of the spec ops missions on Veteran now. All I have remaining is kill 10 juggernauts with explosives, save two sets of hostages on the oil rig, and clear 40 snipers, mercs, and juggernauts from Estate. Save two sets of hostages on the oil rig isn't that bad, it is just that we screwed up on the final breach a couple of times, but the other two are less easy. |
This is getting somewhat out of hand.
Microsoft: difference between cheat, exploit? None. Banned! Ok, so glitchers are pretty much fucking terrible people. That's not really an issue. Banning them, or threatening to do so, is a pretty hard thing to enforce, considering the lack of ability to discern if someone's actually DONE IT. But why the fuck are solely end users being punished for a developer's mistake? I understand that actually doing it can't be justified, but neither can this reaction. I was reading a comment somewhere that brought up the point that IW controls their own playlists. Here's something, BAN THE JAVELIN UNTIL YOU CAN ROLL A PATCH OUT. Bam, problem fucking solved. Users are no longer gigafucked for your inability to playtest. I mean, it's the fault of the developer to fix the problems, and to test their product. This didn't happen. It's also impossible to justify the cheating. There's blame on both sides, but this doesn't seem like the best fix. I don't even think there is one. Lose-lose all around. |
Let's be honest here, if they are going to start banning people for exploiting glitches that are developers' mistakes, they might as well ban at least 75% of Xbox Live's users each time they buy a new game.
|
The glitch hasn't really ruined the game for me. Every once in a while you'll get one in the game and most people either cuss them out for doing after or just leave. It is few and far between that I even see one (which is surprising b/c I play Hardcore HQ). I know if it were me doing it and seeing the whole team leave it wouldn't be to fun after awhile. Anyways most people don't play as a team, they are primarily focused on their personal scores rather than winning a match.

I have a new found appreciation for the Riot Shield.
Some guy suggested we have a team of people doing it, so we had 3 dudes with Riot Shields on Wasteland, and myself behind all of them with Akimbo 1887s and Stoping Power. We just kept running through the middle trench and around the field, and nobody could stop us. 49 kills 10 deaths. If only I had the Nuke perk selected. E: Oh, and I ran into one of the guys sporting an IW clan tag (only authorized folks can use it) so I suppose they really do have people playing the game to check for glitchers. He stuck with us for a few rounds and bounced. |
