Goddammit, too many freaking words starting with "War".

Alrighty, *deep breath*, Warforged Warlock named "Lens".

Spoiler:
Yah yah!

Bradylama Jul 11, 2008 10:10 PM

Blindsight only lets oozes discern edibles within 60 feet, so if we remain 6 spaces from the ooze can we just avoid a fight with it altogether for now?

The unmovable stubborn Jul 11, 2008 10:15 PM

10 squares, but yes. I suppose so.

Zephyrin Jul 11, 2008 10:27 PM

Technically, though, nobody knows it's coming after us.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 11, 2008 10:31 PM

Yeah, but everybody's already 10 squares or more away from it even now. When its turn comes around it won't perceive anybody :(

Zephyrin Jul 12, 2008 12:03 AM

Well aren't you just disappointed that nobody gets to die. >=(

Animechanic Jul 12, 2008 12:18 AM

Aren't we all.

Go play with the slime Zeph! It wants to be your buddy.

Skexis Jul 12, 2008 05:04 AM

Of course without fighting it you'll never get those precious gems lodged in its naughty places.

To sully or not to sully?

No. Hard Pass. Jul 12, 2008 05:18 AM

That fucking rat swarm is enough of a pain in the ass to kill with mundane weapons, thank you.

Bradylama Jul 12, 2008 11:47 AM

Another question about fighting ooze. Argumentus can't really hurt it with his mundane fists, but what would happen if I threw a corpse at it, would that slow it down?

The unmovable stubborn Jul 12, 2008 12:04 PM

Well uh the distinction between blunt weapons and edged weapons is pretty much gone in 4E so theoretically you could punch it to death (if you had a couple days to kill). That aside yeah I suppose generally it would rather eat than fight in most cases.

Of course this is all player knowledge. http://www.saxypunch.com/miscimg/emot-colbert.gif

Also you already used your Second Wind for this fight

Bradylama Jul 12, 2008 12:44 PM

Welp then just move me there. Make that healing surge a surge of flatulence or whatever.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 12, 2008 01:32 PM

Not that I particularly want to fight it at the same time as the rats, but wouldn't the slime have seen the dead goblins and gone and eaten them? They're barely five minutes dead so they'd still be pretty warm.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 12, 2008 03:46 PM

...YES

THAT IS PRECISELY WHAT DID HAPPEN, IN RETROSPECT

Zephyrin Jul 12, 2008 06:19 PM

You guys, I really think we should try this one out, next!

Do they have rules for antlers?

Zergrinch Jul 12, 2008 07:37 PM

Man, I wanted to see Bradylama's character exploded by rats

Quit healing yourself :tpg:

Zephyrin Jul 12, 2008 11:49 PM

I was reading the rulebook combat section and got confused about something...

My basic attacks have a bonus to my attack roll, right?
Now, the power cards replace the attack vs. stats, and damage roll, but under attack it doesn't say anything about bonus to hit.

Do I still get my bonus to hit from my basic attacks when using abilities? If so, shouldn't these cards say so?

Animechanic Jul 13, 2008 12:55 AM

Bonus to hit from whatever ability you are rolling's modifier still applies. As does any weapon proficiency attack bonus.

So if you are rolling an attack power with STR vs. AC for your chance to hit, you add your strength modifier to your die roll. If you are making the attack with a dagger and are proficient with it, you also add the +3 proficiency bonus for the weapon.

Odds are Pang is keeping track of this behind the scenes so you guys don't have to think about it.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 13, 2008 08:54 AM

Yeah, you always add your proficiency bonuses/class bonuses regardless of which attack you use.

So if Fescue makes a basic attack with his dagger, he gets
STR + Class Bonus + Proficiency = +4 bonus

Switching to Sly Flourish just replaces the STR bonus with his DEX bonus, so he gets
DEX + Class Bonus + Profiency = +5 bonus

And yes I admit the cards aren't perfect, but they were the best I could find and trying to make them all by hand was just eeeeaaaarrrrgh

No. Hard Pass. Jul 13, 2008 02:02 PM

Where did you find those, anyway?

The unmovable stubborn Jul 13, 2008 03:13 PM

Over at ENWorld there's a 30-something page thread with a bunch of different templates. I'd link you but ENWorld is down right now (like it is about 60% of the time.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 13, 2008 05:01 PM

Can I cast Cloud of Daggers again before the other one dissipates?

If so, I will please, if not cast Ray of frost at them. I'm off to bed now though.

The unmovable stubborn Jul 13, 2008 07:37 PM

...and the battle is won in absentia. :(
