There isn't a single game there I wouldn't watch, either.

Will I watch Georgia/Hawaii this year? Probably, but I'm not going to go out of my way. I watched the 2nd half of Boise State/Oklahoma last year, but really only because I had nothing better to do. I'm glad I did, but chances are it turns out more like Utah/Pittsburgh. Two teams no one cares about and one blowing the shit out of the other. But I missed the Rose Bowl last year...a friend of mine was in town and we went for a walk with my dogs.

But I would watch all seven games in a playoff -- I would clear my schedule.

Yambo. Don't tell me that wouldn't be the most successful 3 weeks in the history of sports.

Damn...I would definitely watch that if only to see WVU beat the hell out of LSU. The other games would be pretty exciting too. Unfortunately, that just seems short of a good playoff. Having just an 8 team playoff out of 100-some teams just seems short...it also says "Screw you" to #9 and #10. Hell, it's a "screw you" to those who are 9-25...like the BCS rankings don't matter to those who are under #8 (and actually, they're kind of like that now). Anyway, I still believe in 32 because that way you get your top 25 from the BCS (which would actually matter for all teams in there) plus an additional 7 who aren't in there. How would you go about picking the other 7 teams? I haven't thought that far ahead yet.

Aren't the World Cup, the Super Bowl, and the NCAA basketball tournament the three biggest sporting events? College football playoffs would just be fucking huge too.

Aight, THE Ohio State University.

So you're suggesting they run a 6 week playoffs? That's absurd for a number of reasons (college athletes playing 18 games, season running way too long, etc.), but over the course of a season, while it may be hard to identify who the top 5 teams are, it's pretty likely that the BCS will generally get the top 10 right. Sure #9 and #10 would be left out of this, but someone always is. They could have bowls for teams that didn't make it into the playoffs, but football is not the same as college basketball. There is no way a tournament that large would work. Of course it's very unlikely the current bowl system will change anytime soon, regardless of how absurd the final results are.

Good bowl set for the Pac-10

Oregon St. Defeating Maryland and Cal defeating the Air Force.

Then Oregon dominates USF. I'm going to enjoy watching Roper in the next couple years.

Then you have USC beating the shit out of Illinois.

So overall in bowl games the Pac-10 went 4-2

-------------------------------------------

ACC(8) 2-4
Big 12 (8) 2-2
Big East (5) 1-2
Big Ten (8) 2-2
Conference USA (6) 1-4
Independents (FBS) (1) 0-1
Mid-American (3) 0-1
Mountain West (5) 4-1
Pacific-10 (6) 4-2
SEC (9) 4-0
Sun Belt (1) 1-0
WAC (4) 1-2

russ Jan 2, 2008 11:07 AM

Currently the SEC is 6-2, after Georgia embarrassed Hawaii. Only game the SEC has remaining is the title game. Go LSU ugh.

Lukage Jan 2, 2008 12:28 PM

Now that my Tigers raped the Razorbacks, its time to see kU get shown the way to the door.

Hope you didn't. It was quite the beating Georgia gave Hawaii on Tuesday. >_>

BlueMikey Jan 2, 2008 03:01 PM

Yeah, the two games that I thought might be two of the worst, Rose and Sugar, were.

What a shitty ass day of New Year's football.

Could have seen all four Heisman finalists sucking. Tebow sucked, McFadden just wasn't given the ball and when he was, he sucked. Brennan couldn't do crap and Chase Daniel had by his standards an "okay" day.

The better games yesterday were in the morning.

Slash Jan 2, 2008 04:10 PM

Michigan just put massive amounts of pressure on Tebow...it was really interesting to watch.

But I hope the PAC-10 can make more of an impact next year...

okay I lied, I hope USC, Cal, Oregon and Oregon St. make an impact.

We probably won't see Hawaii go undefeated next year cause, if Oregon St. stays strong, Hawaii will lose to them.

FIESTA BOWL UPDATE!!!

Halftime -- WV : 20 --- Oklahoma : 6

Wow....West Virgina is kicking ass today.

Oklahoma just sucked up the Fiesta Bowl

48 - 28 WV

SuperSonic Jan 3, 2008 12:51 PM

I remember Oklahoma trying to get out of playing WVU in the Fiesta Bowl...like the Mountaineers weren't worth their time or something. I kept hearing that the Sooners were gonna kill WVU. It's unreal that it was the other way around and after what happened with WVU, I'm glad for them.

Rich Rodriguez must be shitting himself right about now.

Slash Jan 3, 2008 03:18 PM

Well I'm still baffled by the Sooners.

An onside kick with like...8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter as well as two attempts at a 2-point conversion in the 3rd quarter.

SuperSonic Jan 3, 2008 05:44 PM

I guess they thought WVU would be caught off guard by that. It's like the announcers said: "When it works, it's a great play...when it doesn't work, it's a horrible play." or something to that extent. Another factor was penalties, that also killed the Sooners.

Tonight's the Orange Bowl, and honestly I think it's up for grabs at this point.

Slash Jan 3, 2008 06:23 PM

I liked what the announcers said during the times they were doing it.

"What are they doing? An Onside kick now?"

Additional Spam:
Alright heres my prediction for the VT - KU game

VT over KU 38 to 21

SuperSonic Jan 3, 2008 09:55 PM

Unbelievable...Virginia Tech at least managed to pull off a touchdown at the end of the half, but KU is taking it to them. 17-7 at the half, with Kansas leading.

Slash Jan 3, 2008 10:22 PM

Holy shit...theres a bitch slap to Kansas for the start of the 3rd quarter. 90 yard or so punt return

Additional Spam:
Okay, even though I was wrong this game was great in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Its gotta hurt though...that one touchdown interception kinda killed it for VT. If they had the team they had in the second half, VT would have dominated

SuperSonic Jan 4, 2008 01:51 PM

At least this one was close. It really did get interesting in the 2nd half. Did you see the Kansas sideline? They couldn't get close to the coach to dump the ice water on him because of the staff...LOL, better luck next time.

Slash Jan 4, 2008 03:08 PM

I thought it was pretty funny, especially with the guys being like "Aww c'mon dude"

Drex Jan 4, 2008 05:17 PM

Boo, I wanted VT to win. Oh, well. Kansas did a bang-up job. I was kinda ticked at the commentators when Kansas was up 17-0 and they're all "Kansas is going to really have to pick it up if they want to stand a chance against Virginia Tech tonight." Um...hi. Who's up by 17? Yeah.

I'm also ticked because I might have to miss the OSU-LSU game on Monday. I'll have to figure out a way to weasel out of my other commitment....

Slash Jan 4, 2008 05:31 PM

All I can say is that VT 1st half and VT 2nd half were two completely different teams

Slash Jan 7, 2008 09:31 PM

LSU started slow but now they're up 17 - 10

No. Hard Pass. Jan 7, 2008 09:36 PM

Jesus. The kid gets hit that hard and then gets picked off? That's unfortunate.

russ Jan 7, 2008 09:42 PM

I got home late and turned the game on to see LSU down 10-0. Now they're up 17-10 and about to go up another touchdown. I am pretty much sitting here wondering how the hell they gave up any points at all. All I have seen is them dominating in much the same way that one would expect to see an SEC team dominate a Big 10 team.

Oops, they just scored again while I was typing this. That damn white tailback is just defying the odds here.

IdleChill Jan 7, 2008 09:54 PM
