Yeah, great atmosphere, ever been there?
|
|
That tower it the Messeturm from Frankfurt, Germany. One of the best European skylines.
I'll get something up to guess soon. |
Sure is. Although you already know that.
|
|
Oriental Bay, New Zealand?
The fountain looks familiar. |
This particular fountain is in Geneva, Switzerland.
GIS reveals that Oriental Bay looks eerily like Geneva, too. |
Shit, I got here too late. I'd have actually recognized this one, as I've been to Geneva.
A shame this picture wasn't taken from the opposite direction. It could've had a glorious view of the Matterhorn in the background. Though, I suppose that would've been a dead giveaway that it's Switzerland. |
If it's any consolation, you can take my place in putting up the next city.
|
Will do.
There is a landmark clue in this photograph, if you look patiently. |
I can't for the life of me figure this one out. I've narrowed it down to southern spainish, or francish. Or somewhere in italy. That little region. I could be close, or I could be far off. It seems spanishy italian building wise. But there was some french towns that I looked at the seemed similiar to that. I'm gonna throw down a guess of Nice, France.. I just spent an hour and a half pouring over google maps, and google images looking for shore towns. =D
|
No, Nice is incorrect. I've actually been to Nice, though, and it's a very beautiful city. Of all the places in France that I could revisit, Nice is foremost on the list.
Since this is taking a while for people to get, I'll confirm that this city is not set along the Mediterranean Ocean. |
Havana then? If it's not Mediterranean it's got to be in South America and there seems to be a marina of some kind in the foreground and the coastline is kinda the right shape.
Also, the Mediterranean is a sea, not an ocean =P |
Havana is moving in the proper direction, but the city you seek is not in Cuba.
And yeah, I know it's a sea. But it's colloquially known as "Ocean", despite the misnomer. |
The picture reminds me a lot of the kind of construction on the Azores, but I don't think there is a city that big on them. =\

I'll guess Sao Paulo, because it seems vaguely Brazilian. This is a tough one, though. |

Anybody notice the statue in the photo? Looks pretty big too. Or is that just my eyes and the jpg doin' a dance?
|
Random instinct tells me that the picture is of Salvador, Brazil. However, I don't think my instinct is right in this situation ;_;
|
The mystery city is not located anywhere in Brazil. People are homing in on the global area, though.
|
Is it Santiago, Chile?
|
Sorry, it's not Santiago. To my knowledge, Santiago isn't as tropical as the city in the picture.
The mystery city is north of Santiago. It's also a fairly popular vacation spot, if that helps. |
Then I'll bite and say Lima, Peru. Perhaps the landmark in question is Machu Picchu (tucked in the haze on the horizon).
(Probably not, looking at a map of where Lima is in relation to the mountain.) |
Nope, it's not Lima either.
Look further north. |
Panama then? Again, the bay looks about the right shape.
|
No, it's not Panama, or Panama City, though you're starting to get very close.
