So freaking annoying that this game doesn't allow one to skip story scenes with the Start button or something. Sorry needed to vent, while I yep you guessed it, am going through all the events that I'VE ALREADY GONE THROUGH ONCE BEFORE!

Thats whats so great about the Full Moon events, the thrill of actually losing!

The Plane Is A Tiger Aug 24, 2007 12:44 PM

I've actually been disappointed by the full moon events so far. I've beaten up to Hermit so far, and they've all been really easy compared to the Tartarus guardians. It's nice not having to worry about sitting through all of that dialogue again, but I'd still prefer a bit of a challenge.

Chaotic Aug 24, 2007 01:23 PM

I'm just about 3 days away from getting to the next full moon event, but in a lack of actual training, I decided to shrug off going to Tartarus for that stupid Swimming Tournament. <_<

So I'm basically bum rushing everything until I can get the fourth document.

What level is the fourth document on? :><:

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle SP usage? The SP recovery items don't seem to be prevalent and (at least so far) you can't buy em, so I'm commonly running into problems with members running out of SP and therefore unable to exploit most weaknesses, which means I'll have to retreat to the main floor (for a free recovery) and retrace my steps (annoying if I've gone far) or just escape from every enemy I meet until I get to a guardian floor.

It's not the biggest issue I guess (since escaping doesn't take away from stamina, it seems) but just an annoyance. And I'm sure there's some Persona out there that has SP siphoning skills, but that doesn't help my other members that much =/

Chaotic Aug 24, 2007 03:11 PM

Rush on enemies you know you can defeat regardless of knowing their weakness? I have problems conserving SP, but it's never been a huge deal to me.

Yup, that's what I do. If I know the enemy is weak enough, I just rush. That and weakness exploitation is crucial since you make the most of what little SP you have.

I have to echo Tritoch's sentiments on the full moon bosses. After getting used to the bastards in Tartarus, the big shadows were just pushovers. Though the one I just finished offing (Floor #211) was kind of boring too, aside from Megidola and Megidolaon. The ones just before him were pretty lackluster too.

Is that really it? I had looked in the config menu and only saw the auto advance for voiced text, which would have only been partially helpful. Since I managed to beat the boss battle the second time with them only getting two hits in on me, I guess I won't be able to try it out until the next time I manage to lose on a full moon night, but thank you! :)

I see no mention of that functionality in the manual, and don't remember the game mentioning it either, so it is supposed to be some kinda of hidden feature?

Also, I slipped up on the first full moon boss only because I didn't know what to expect. After I learned her pattern from my first loss, I completely stomped her down the second time. The second full moon battle only got me because that darn emperor decided to do his "I'll hit your party for almost more hp than your max!" attack right before I was about to take out the Empress (and he wasn't far behind her in terms of remaning hp), so he basically got lucky since the empress did her full party magic attack first to take off just enough hp from my main character for him to not be at full and thus his follow up attack got me.

Yeah, and actually learning how to use and time rush gives you a reasonable level of control over the other characters in battle and is the only real way to control SP consumption (they still use SP even if commanded to conserve). Just check the order of attacks and keep track of who's turn it is. You can toggle on and off rush to force someone to use a physical attack rather than blowing SP.

Anyway,

I have a question if someone is able to answer it. I'm trying to avoid reading any FAQs so it's why I'm asking here. I'm going to put the question in spoilers as not to risk spoiling anything for some people. It's a very minor spoiler regarding the first term finals.

Spoiler:
Anyone know what Academics level is needed to score top of the class in the first term finals?

I don't think it's a hidden feature. You hold down triangle and it breezes through text.

I wouldn't use it unless you already know the conversation though. P3's dialogue is too valuable to skip through.

Question about the culture festival:
Spoiler:
Is there a way to reschedule the Culture Festival after the typhoon? Everyone made such a big deal out of it and there's a screenshot on RPGamer of Yukari in the maid outfit (standing in her room though, so it could be part of something different). Maybe by having a higher social link with the student council? It just seems odd how it faded away like that after everyone talking about it for over a week.

LS Aug 24, 2007 09:41 PM

Are you sure it wasn't a screen shot from Persona 3 Fes?

Oh was browsing gamefaqs earlier, Loved how everyone was bitching bout the american VA.

On that note, did anyone try the undub version?

Chaotic Aug 24, 2007 09:48 PM

The voice acting hasn't really bothered me too much in this game... The voices seem to suit everyone really well.

Although for battle scenarios, I wish they would've added a couple more lines. It annoyed me during that Hierophant Guardian when Aigis would keep saying, "When you fall, get right back up" every time she was hit by a Zio attack.

LS Aug 24, 2007 10:21 PM

Same, if there ever was a voice that ever bothered me, it was Junpei.

Oh man my weapons are just bought from the store, hence lol damage.

Anyway after 2nd moon, most enemies in tartatrus will be weak to ZIO huh?

Chaotic Aug 24, 2007 10:24 PM

Some... But it's good to know against Hulk Hogan up there. <_<

LS Aug 24, 2007 10:55 PM

Did anyone notice a girl sitting/lying around outside of the dorm?

Its not actually creepy, but its kinda disturbing seeing someone just sitting there, o dark hour u.

Elixir Aug 24, 2007 11:26 PM

It might be one of those Apathy Syndrome guys. There's a few around town, too.

Spoiler:
No.

The maid outfit is a FES exclusive(you are not allowed to change the outfits of your characters in the original Persona 3 as well, so the only times you would see people in different outfits would be if it was something that was in the original, like summer bikinis). It's part of a very strange event.

Localization messed up and forgot to remove it. There is another instance of that as well (doesn't involve Yukari though)

Ah, well I just figured it would've been mentioned in the manual on the controls explanation page at the very least since I would've never thought to do that. If that's something that's usually found in SMT games, I must've forgotten because it's been at least two years since I touched DDS.

But I agree about the text. The first time I went through the dialog screens prior to the second full moon battle, it was some great stuff.

Yep, they pop in and out with the moon cycles.

No problems with the voices for me. I'm actually impressed at the quality. That might be a reach for some people, but I'm liking it.

For the midterms, you need 3. For the finals, you need 5 or 6, I had 4, got all the questions right, and was 'In the top 10'

Is there any good high-res art from this game? Preferably like something from the first op, or for example, Elixir's sig/avatar.

In other news, I seriously can't wait for level 56. God i have too much fun with this game :o

LS Aug 25, 2007 09:06 AM

I have reached the oh so cursed floor 59, I tried fighting the damn boss, with only Mitsuru and Yukari, failed so bad, although i did considerable damage!

ONE MORE TIME!

Chaotic Aug 25, 2007 10:54 AM

I hate the fact I forget to save.

gawd dammit:

I had just gotten done with the Chariot/Justice Full Moon event and after going through the text twice, (one being surprised by a shadow and getting killed by my own teammates because everyone was fucking charmed, and second, forgetting to save AFTER the event and dying in Tartarus), I realize I forgot to save and now I'm three days before the Full Moon event.

Gawd, just let me play as Konomaru already. :tpg:

Anyway, should I bother keeping my team even? When I get Konomaru, he's at level 34, I'm only level 29 and my lowest level, Junpei, is at level 21. I'm just wondering if I should go out of the way to keep my whole team even.

Is it worth it?
