Holy shit... could it be? Is this the "new" XFA-27 from Ace Combat 2? And is that really a fucking laser!?

BTW, what's the backstory behind this one? Belkan prototype air superiority fighter? Erusian prototype air superiority fighter? Something that fell from Megalith's Macross model display?

Can you guys please do me a favor and bump the Soundtrack Rip thread in My Stuff please?

I'm currently ripping the few remaining tracks and still need help with naming!

Metal Sphere Mar 24, 2006 12:00 PM

Yeah, I asked a question in the thread that has me wondering how I download the tracks which bumped the thread up, I assume. The soundtrack's not that bad, it's just not very memorable. The finale track is awesome though, but since I haven't played the game yet, it loses the weight it must carry when you're actually doing that mission.

Megalith Mar 24, 2006 02:12 PM

I like how the ADFX-02 has burst missiles like the Scinfaxi.

Wow... the name ireally does fit. Falken + Wyvern = Falveren

My money's on this being in Ace Combat 6 as part of the trifecta of unlockables.

seanne Mar 24, 2006 03:26 PM

i like how some ascpects of the game seemingly change depending on what ace style you're currenctly at when beginning a mission. for instance on stages where you duke it out with a squadron of named enemy aces, the squadron you meet can vary depending on your ace style. and subsequent interview sequences change accordingly as well.

this means that there are basicly three variations to every stage, and though the variations aren't exactly major, this definitely makes additional playthroughs much more rewarding and fun.

also, i just had a run-in with SWORDSMAN =o

Is ACZ dual layered or single layered DVD? Information on that would be much appreciated!

Megalith Mar 25, 2006 01:11 AM

It is a DVD5.

Mobius One Mar 25, 2006 02:00 AM

Where did Megalith get these screens from, is AC0 out in Japan already or something?

Spatula Mar 25, 2006 02:27 AM

It was released March 23, 2006 in Japan, Mobius One, just incase, however unlikely, it was not stated previously in the thread.

Stole it from behind Kobayashi's back when he was cleaning his synth.

Would I lie.

Hantei Mar 26, 2006 05:18 AM

Took a look at Hori's flight stick for AC0, looks like they're also making rudder pedals too, pretty cool.

Is this thing combatible with NA systems? Cause I might actually consider importing this, assuming that it's not going to be released over here.

Needless to say, this track is beyond cool.

I've also taken a different approach at ripping and things have gotten a lot easier now. Expect a (semi-)complete soundtrack rip in less than 24 hours if I can refrain from actually playing the game ... ;-)

There is no track with name 04-Finale,can you point me which track is it on the above mentioned site riplist.

Yeah, as mentioned in the official soundtrack rip thread, I've updated the site with new filenames, so the "finale" is now track #26 - "Zero".

Megalith Mar 26, 2006 05:44 PM

All those sticks suck. Here's the best one.

Damn, the game certainly does get better with every mission (just finished mission 10).

Excalibur was a lot of fun to take out, as well. I really enjoyed that one and the intense Round Table fighting. Entertaining stuff.

I'm still missing more plot involvement, though. It looks like Namco just concentrated on the epic scale of the war and aces story - which is good but doesn't come close to the sheer excitement that was The Unsung War.

I still love the interview footage. It's really interesting to know more about your opponents than just the type of plane they're flying.

Shampoo Suicide Mar 28, 2006 10:06 PM

So, if one didn't care for AC5's style of narration would they enjoy AC Zero more?

That could very well be the case, yes.

AC Zero is a lot more straightforward with the campaign, which makes it seem shorter, though.

EDIT: Yeah, burn the cven-acez.iso

Elixir Mar 31, 2006 01:13 AM

Just use Alcohol's Image Burning Wizard, and check your desktop or whereever you've downloaded it to.

I'm not sure what burning the .bin would do. Nothing, probably.

He was trying to find out how to extract the music files, not how to burn the ISO.

Yeah. Miniface told me what I did wrong last night, thanks though. =o

Metal Sphere Mar 31, 2006 02:42 PM

Hmm, looks like it's called the ADFX-02 "Morgan". The secret plane, that is.

Megalith Apr 2, 2006 04:08 AM

Damn, this game is awesome. It's like AC5, but without all the pointless drama.

Also, some of the tracks sound different to me in the game. Maybe the frequency of the music rip may be slightly inaccurate, or I'm just hearing tone neutrality.

Rock Apr 2, 2006 12:01 PM

I didn't notice any differences, but I can confirm that the unnamed track 17 from my rip is actually

Spoiler:
the ambient/noise that plays in mission 12 "Waldreich Mountains" right after the Belkans set off their nukes. It's a pretty scary moment in the game with the radio jammed, HUD going crazy and all. Very intense.

I wish I had already completed the game to verify this with the BGM player option.
