I still don't know how much I'll like this battle system. Everything else seems top notch, but I fucking hate MMO battle styles. They're just lame.

Great emotional stuff there.

Spoiler:
I didn't know he was his brother !!! That's great, but i'll probably be waiting now for the US release :(

> Denicalis, It's not so much different from the classical FF combat mode, I think it's better because i was so much bored of fighting in the same scenes again and again, plus the fact that being attacked by invisible ennemies frustrated me, now it's all smooth and no loading times before a fight, it's much more fast, you're never stopped while discovering the environments

I have a small question...

Who/What's the first boss battle with
Spoiler:
when you're in control of Vaan?

And are there multiple boss battle themes like in Vagrant Story?
Because I've heard different songs in different trailers when the party was fighting a boss.

Yeah my mistake, here is the actual Intro:

I like this game more now, the story got a bit more interesting. Although i still dislike the new fighting system (mmo system in a single player game...). I cant be too far away from the end.

Cobalt Katze Mar 15, 2006 04:53 PM

IGN just put up 5 new movies from FFXII in their media page. For whatever reason it isn't part of their frontpage news lineup yet.

Two of the movies are the CG+Ingame Intro, with really good quality on the music. Unfortunately, it cuts off right at the title screen. However, I managed to rip the audio and put together an MP3 of what there is.

The other movies are:

- Montage of Vaan exploring the beginning city, glimpses at ingame cutscenes
- Ingame cutscenes from the beginning + running around and fighting
- Another ingame scene + part of a boss battle

Awesome stuff :D

Elixir Mar 15, 2006 08:05 PM

Not sure if this is mentioned, but it's the same world as in Vagrant Story.

I'm forced to buy this now. Not that I really liked Vagrant much, but more for the fact that I'm a graphics whore.

Here's the FFXII opening movie as a gift.

Huh? Not it isn't or at least it shouldn't be.

While FFXII takes place in Ivalice, the same name of the world in FFTactics and FFXI, all 3 are entirely different worlds and locations that just share some similarities and influences in design.

Not Final Fantasy XI though, the world in Final Fantasy XI is called Vanadiel

Oh is it? Maybe I got confused with the races then or some of the gameplay elements. :p

Shoeless Mar 15, 2006 09:49 PM

I don't believe there are any races in Ivalice that are also in Vanadiel, other than Humes. The races in FFXII originated (except Hume and Moogles) in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. There are the Bangaa, Viera, Moogles, Hume and Seeqs. The races of FFXI are: the Mithra, the Galka, the Tarutaru, Elvaans, and Humes.

Yeah I got them confused because some compare FFXII to FFXI but really it's FFT/Advance that shares the world name and races, even though FFXII was in development before Tactics Advance it's just the latter title made it out the door first.

Troidal at GAF was kind enough to rip and upload 5 of the 11 tracks from 'The Best of Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack'. A great sampler for the real deal out on April 19th and instead of YSI it I've thrown it up on Tappy's FTP for now. :)

Could you please do it as a YSI in addition?

Here you go, a fresh link since the other one I posted ended up on GameFaqs:

The 'Members' section on Square-Enix's official site has a few new wallpapers and 2 screensavers, 1 of which is an "Airship Gallery" featuring 10 airships named after summons in previous FF games that are in FFXII

I've attached them below but be warned since some of them haven't been seen before some might consider them a spoiler.

Shoeless Mar 16, 2006 12:45 AM

This music makes me wet.

The East Dalmasca Desert theme is typical Sakimoto brilliance.

Penelo's Theme is actually one of his earlier tracks that did not make it into Final Fantasy Tactics. Great stuff. Always thought it would make a beautiful character theme.

PiccoloNamek Mar 16, 2006 01:54 AM

Hoooooly shiiiiit. East Dalmasca Desert is the most awesome thing I've ever heard. If the rest of the soundtrack is anything like this, I certainly won't regret having bought the limited edition OST!

This is the first time in a long time any piece of music has brought a smile to my normally stone-hard face.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the part from 1:20-1:37.

I want more tracks like this.

PiccoloNamek Mar 16, 2006 02:00 AM

I especially love the part from 1:00 to 1:20... (and again at 2:45) it just sounds so... carefree and adventurous! I only hope the game itself can live up to the music!

It's moments like this that make me glad to be a Sakimoto fan. Down with all of his detractors, especially those that say he can't compose a good melody. (I used to be one of them though, gah!)

Cobalt Katze Mar 16, 2006 02:29 AM

I hear you Piccolo. I had some fears, but these tracks are totally making my day :D

What I'm really loving about these pieces is how varied and expressive they are. They're not just one little motif repeated over and over. He really goes places and makes you want to hear what happens again. It's stuff like this that leads me to listening to it over and over and over again.

Craze Mar 16, 2006 02:41 AM

Someone ripped 2 FMVs, one is the opening, the other I'm not too sure yet. Shall I post up the torrents?

I know, I've listened to East Dalmasca Desert about 20 times already.

Elixir Mar 16, 2006 02:54 AM

33 mb? Hmm, seems kind of small for a soundtrack.

Oh well, currently downloading. I have hype over this game and I don't know why.

Simo needs to start creating sigs holy shit.

Double Post:
Eh, this selection isn't that impressive. Mediocre at best.

PiccoloNamek Mar 16, 2006 03:45 AM

Well, that confirms it. Elixir is dead on the inside. :p
