ARG! Work issues. |

So I've gotten hired by a company, and they want me to design a part for them.
However, there is a problem. I am not a full fledged engineer, and the part that I am designing has so many considerations I don't even know if I am covering all that I need to. What makes things even worse is that the guys who run this place are computer and electrical engineers, and hence they aren't at all aware of some of the things I need to cover to make this part a success, and they are of no help. All they do is show me some pictures and say, "make something kinda like that."
I have absolutely no idea how to assign the tolerances for the part, as this is supposed to be a high precision test gauge. If it were a normal automotive part, I might have a better clue, but not this.
So, I am kind of stuck, 'cuz I have to assign tolerances so that there is a guaranteed snug fit on a ball bearing seat. It is looking like, per the advise of a ball bearing supplier, that the tolerancing should be in the thousandths of a millimeter. ;_; Holy crap, that is going to cost mucho $$$!
