Laptop for College |

|
From my uni, they sent me a pamphlet on computers and yadda yadda. Once I opened the nicy, glossy booklet, I knew something was wrong in Happy Town. They're asking for $3110 for a Apple MacBook Pro.Now, the university does give a "Large Nylon" Carrying Case, Surge Protector, Security Cable, Ethernet Cable, Mac Microsoft Office, Symantec Antivirus, and Firefox. (I like how they highlighted that as kicking-rad software addition). Oh. A four year warranty on hardware and 1 year battery warrenty. But, damn 3000+ better get me a fine ass laptop and I don't really need that software. Or an Apple.
The Dell offerings were just a disparging. Over priced for what they were giving. I do understand Microsoft Office is mad expensive, but damn.
So, I'm looking for something like this:
2.0 GHz (but won't convert my dorm into a blast furnace.)
1 GB RAM
DVD+/-RW DL burner
100 GB HD
Wireless/Ethernet/Decent Soundcard/Okay Videocard.
Any suggestions?
