Advice (It's gaming purchase related, so I can trust y'all, rite?) |

Simple question.
PS2 or DS? (PC if I roll in cash)
They key thing is that I really want to play some RPGs that I have always lusted after but never got to play because my parents hate the concept of video games.
I thought about building a PC, but I'd probably have to build one up from the ground up. I could probably build a decent gaming PC for 550...not including a monitor. That's a bit pricey. I don't feel like I need to take the plunge anytime soon either. A new PC would be nice, but I don't feel like I can justify the cost...even with rampant piracy of games.
PS2 seems like a pretty good choice with a huge library. I don't have a TV, but I hear Gamebridge works fine...as long as I drop my resolution on my laptop. PS2 is around $130, with the gamebridge for $25. However, I hear it's still an imperfect solution and there's some lag and sound problems. Those problems are supposedly surpassed with codec tweaking though. And if I was feeling even more like a cheap bastard, I could get Swap Magic and pirate my games from blockbuster and friends.
DS seems pretty good. There seems to be a far amount of RPGs and fun little games for it. My girlfriend's younger sister has one, and it's been great fun helping the little tyke beat hard levels in Mario. I think there's a bunch of Final Fantasy titles and couple of other games I'm interested in. And if I wanted to be cheap, I could get the R4 chip and microSD card. DS costs $130, plus the
40 dollars for the R4 chip and microSD card. Plus, my girlfriend has really been wanting one, so she could also derive enjoyment from the DS.
So. Help me make a decision.
