3D School Projects |

well like you saw in my previous entry I got accepted at the NAD center, which is a 3D school for cinema and video games.
Since it's been 3 months now that I'm studying there, it's about time I show you some of my work.
First, some might have seen it but I'm posting it again here. It's my demo 01. We had to create a vehicle that can transport about 20 people and can go on 2 elements like: air and earth or air and water or water and air. We still needed to take some references of real life vehicle to make our project. The vehicle needed to look like it was old.
As for me, I decided to make a Train-submarine inspired by the Bioshock big daddy look.

beauty shot:

This was the first thing I really did in 3D, I somewhat proud of myself because I manage to get a result close to what I imagined first.
For the character modeling class, we had to model an human head with a good flow of edge loop, which is important for facial animation.
It was hard at first but not as much as I thought. The good flow of edge loop was the biggest challenge since I didn't really had the knowledge of it yet, but it's all about anatomy. Most of the edge loop are positioned where the real face muscles are. And we took some very good reference to help us. Each person had to model someone else in the class, it's pretty weird to see ourself in 3D and worst if the person doing you is not that talented lol.
Currently we are in the project 02, which is in group of 4 and we have to make a game cinematic that must have at least one human character and one non-human that must interact with each other. I'm not gonna go into detail yet but I'm the one making the non-human character which is a bird.
I really had no idea how to make a bird, so it was all made by looking at some reference and with some trial and errors. I really had to research on the anatomy of a bird, even look at some skeleton. I'm the one doing the texturing and the animation of this bird, so I'll have to rig the model to be able to animate it. That how the bird skeleton did come handy while doing the modeling. My teacher told me that it's done right. It might not be the best bird but I think I'll manage to do something good with it.
BTW I found some slow-motion video of bird flying on youtube which will really help me for the animation, but if you guys has any other references please let me know
So what do you guys think of them? Do you have some critic or suggestion to help me make them better?
