Sup guys.
Been a long time since I poked my head in here. The thought came into my head to come back and see how things are going around here. Unfortunately, it seems like I came back to some sad news.

Things have been going alright for me. I'm finally reaching my goal of obtaining a BS degree in Computer Science. Over the summer I moved out to the SF bay area (just 10 minutes from San Francisco) to attend SFSU. I transferred there under junior status and I'm gonna see this through to the end. I'm unemployed now and have had some trouble finding a part time IT related job in the area so I'm living off my student loan until then. I sold my 360 (which is why I'm never online anymore) and parts of my gaming collection to get by too.

I'm also in a LDR with a girl from New Jersey. She's a real sweetheart and she's planning to visit me again next month. I've been out to the east coast twice to visit her and she has been out here once to visit me.

There are a lot more details that I haven't went over but the above is basically a short summary of where I'm at now.

How is everyone else doing?

Sin & Punishment is...
a really addictive shooter. And wow is the storyline random or what. We're like running and gunning to the Shinjuku station, ride the elevator to the top, fight some crazy bitch with telekinetic powers, witness Japan sink and drown in a sea of blood, everyone dies, Saki (who you control) transforms into a ruffian creature thingy and fights the crazy bitch who also transformed, Saki goes crazy and attacks his allies who survived in an aircraft, they escape to a ship which is full of bad guys, the leader of the savior group fights off a furry and the leader of international peacekeeping organization which are from the US, blah blah blah... and eventually you end up being betrayed by an ally and you fight to defend the fucking earth against some gigantic fake earth creature that is the final boss. HOLY SHIT JAPAN where do you come up with this stuff?

I love these short and sweet games that don't take 50 hours to complete. Treasure also makes the best shooters. Can't wait for the sequel to come out on the wii this Sunday.

I thought Elites don't red ring?
Because mine certainly did. Just 3 days before I was about to trade it in and get a slim. I went to their website and started filling out the form for repair and it's expired. So 100 dollars to fix it.

Man. Microsoft is gay.

Long time no see!
Yes. I'm still alive and hanging in there. Been busy with work and school and I'm actually about to leave for my art history class in a few hours. I'm taking 6 intensive summer units this June/July and at this point I think I've built up 60 or 70 units. I'm hoping I can transfer to UC/CSU within the next year or two. Anyways, I guess I'll summarize what has happened with me in the last 6 months using these nifty bullet points.
  • Made my first visit to Dave and Busters. It's basically a Chuck E Cheese for adults. Place is pretty awesome and I love hitting the jackpots on the skill based games (like the stacker!)
  • Made a ton of new friends in the local area. Plus my friend from LA moved up to the San Francisco bay area. We hang out frequently visiting museums, going on hikes, and doing other fun outdoor activities.
  • I dated this girl for a few months but eventually she turned into drama and constantly played mind games with me. After she freaked the fuck out over me mentioning it was her birthday during a party at my place I decided to just back off. Good thing we never reached boyfriend/girlfriend status, though I wish I could have had a chance to have sex with her. Instead I'm left feeling very horny. Oh well.
  • Signed up for five more classes the rest of the year. The two I'm doing
this summer are Art History and English Writing 302. The fall classes I have are History, Calculus (ewww), and C/C++ programming.
  • My car fucked up for the last time. I ended up getting rid of it by selling it to the transmission repair shop (it went out AGAIN) and bought a used 07 Honda Civic for a good price in Daly City near San Francisco.
  • Planning to have Kairyu come out and visit this August. We were supposed to visit Japan again but that money was put towards obtaining a functional non piece of crap car. So instead he will come here for two weeks and I will show him all around our lovely state of California.
  • Went to Fanime in San Jose a few weeks ago. It was actually pretty amazing and I enjoyed it greatly. It was nice staying at my local friend's apartment too. Saved us a lot of money on hotel costs. Plus his couch is comfy. :3
  • Started playing Magic the Gathering with my friends. I don't waste my money on cards though. I just use one of my friend's many decks. I learned how to play at fanime since they were handing promotional decks out like candy.

Gosh, I feel like I'm still forgetting stuff. Anyways, I hope all of you are doing well. It's nice to see that this place is still in one piece.

So I sorta went to furcon today.
I said I never would but I did. D:

And you know, I kinda liked it there. Little bit of culture shock when I first arrived but then I got used to all the fur suits and randomness of it all. I'd say more than half the people there are creepy as hell but a lot of the furries I've hung around were cool nerdy people who are just into anthro characters. Kinda like me.

If anything the con sure brought a huge economy boost to San Jose. Lots of people were there.

Goddammit Konami
After learning about a Rocket Knight Adventure revival I had a massive orgasm. A sequel to one of my favorite Genesis games of all time! Last time I went on an adventure was when the SNES version of Sparkster came out. Many years later when he gets a retro revival Konami somehow lets a shitty British developer handle the creation of this sought out continuation.

Listen Konami. THIS IS SPARKSTER:
Spoiler:

And this:

And this:

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE?

KONAMI FUCK YOU FOR TAKING ONE OF MY FAVORITE HEROES AND TURNING HIM INTO SOME UGLY ABOMINATION AND PUTTING HIM INTO A GAME THAT RESEMBLES SOME SHITTY PIECE OF SHOVELWARE THAT LOW BUDGET PUBLISHERS MILK OUT ON THE WII!!!

Hopefully they will catch a lot of heat from the fanbase and seek out a different artist that will give Sparkster his charm back. Plus this game sort of needs a graphical overhaul. I know, graphics aren't everything and there have been successful 2.5D games that retained the charm of the originals but so far this looks very disappointing. But who knows, maybe he animates well. Kinda hard to judge that from still screenshots.

To my xboxlive friends
Just a heads up. As some of you already may know my roommate plays xbox live on my account. I'm extremely busy during the week and am not at home to monitor my account. So if I'm online during the week there's a 98% chance it isn't me. I don't mind him using my account since he only plays CoD4 and doesn't say anything. My roommate also hangs out with Rod and Rod won't hesitate to check my messages or screw around with my friends by sending text messages impersonating me since he finds it hilarious. So please don't take it seriously if I'm suddenly an asshole to you because it probably isn't me. In fact, I'm most likely not aware of it.

Finally it cools down.
You know. After weeks straight of 95-105F super dry weather it finally cooled down this weekend. Yesterday night and today were especially nice. Usually it gets so hot outside that we have a very low humidity level (between 5-15%) and it's super hot and dry outside. At this point I'm used to our mediterranean climate since I've grown up in it but these nice days like today always make me feel great and more energized.

And even last night it was less than 70-80F outside for once.

It should start cooling down now since summer is almost over. I heard it might even rain over here soon. We haven't seen any rain in a few months.

Stupid students.
So I was in my Algorithm Design and Implementation class and I noticed that this one chick with like 2 chins and chunks of body fat bulging out of her shirt spent the whole class period face booking it and IMing her friends instead of taking notes. I thought to myself, "Why would you pay to take this class and not pay attention to the lesson?" He then assigned us to groups to work as a team and THANK GOD she wasn't placed on mine. She'll go into projects clueless on the subject and will probably attempt to leech a free grade as she sits at home myspacing it while eating 5 pounds of ice cream.

In other news some dickhead dumped a bunch of kittens near the dumpster outside the office. Leaving them out in California heat for someone else to take responsibility for is WRONG and they deserve to catch some incurable disease and suffer a slow painful death. I mean, they could have dropped them off at a shelter or something. Luckily someone noticed them and now we are trying to give them away to employees who want them. I played with one of them for a bit but I can't have any more cats right now.

My friend is trying to hook me up.
With a female. She's super skinny, decent looking, and possibly nerdier than me. She plays the shit out of WoW and is going to school to learn how to program and design video games. She was over my place yesterday along with 5 other people and my friend Will kept telling me to make a move. I showed off my big wall of video games and she told me she literary jizzed in her pants. The only problem is that she talks a lot about WoW and most of the stuff she talked about flew way over my head. I quit ages ago and have no interest in playing it again. She's also a little weird. But then again, I'm pretty weird too. She's holding a party next Friday so I'll probably go and see how things go.

There is also this stalker girl in the central loans department of our ops center that keeps asking my friend Alexa about me. She's really nice and everything but we have very few common interests. >_>

In the meantime I am trying to change my looks a bit. I have kept short hair for the last 5 years but now I'm letting it grow out! In fact, when it's windy outside I can feel my hair blowing around. People are also telling me that it makes me look more nerdy. Especially if I just comb it straight down and not put any gel in it. xD

What else can I rant about? Oh yeah, school! Freaking Chemistry class was like "lol, 3 day weekend so you have 3 packets to finish before Tuesday." Most of it is problem solving too. It's not hard to do or anything... just time consuming. Plus I need to start memorizing the periodic table. Gotta know the first 4 rows (by heart) by the 15th. Programming class is making me create a basic calculator in visual c++ or whatever. I'll do half of it tomorrow if I can keep off Mana Khemia 2, which is a VERY ADDICTIVE game.

Class report:
Geometry - I should be taking trig right now but they said I have to complete Geometry first. My teacher makes a lot of mistakes on the worksheets and loses track of himself pretty often. Otherwise he's a really nice guy.

Algorithm Design and Implementation - Pretty fun so far. My teacher came from asia though and is probably the 6th Asian professor I've had. He came straight from Taiwan and his worksheets are full of Engrish. But as a first programming class I'm surprised he's going to have us jump into C++ programming.

Chemistry: Oh my god. My teacher used to be a lawyer and now he teaches Chemistry. He doesn't really teach though. Instead he opts to hand out a packet with somewhat confusing instructions and makes the groups figure it all out themselves. Luckily Icy is a pro so he can tutor me when my instructor fails to help me fully understand the material.

Linux Operating System - Probably my easiest class. Online class with online open book quizzes. Basically all the work is done remotely by connecting to the school's Linux server and building our programs going by the chapters in our book. He recorded all of his lectures and gave us CDs with his lectures on it.

Once again my friends fail.
All they like to do is sit around and watch movies when we hang out or sit at home and do nothing when they don't hang out and are off of work. When I try to plan drives to San Francisco they complain that there's no point in going there. When I try to plan something that is FREE like hiking on a scenic trail at a park they complain that it is too hot.

Seriously, I <3 all my friends and all but sometimes they just kill me when they don't want to do anything fun. Oh let's get drunk at home and watch reruns of episodes from shows we've seen twenty times already!

Stupid Chem 300 class
I bought my textbooks today and holy shit were they expensive. 450 altogether. Chem 300 requires a bunch of side shit and I had to pay for print-offs of the lab work which my professor created. I still need something called an iclicker remote but they were sold out. What the hell is that for anyway?

I need to sell that S2000 soon or else I might not be able to afford my mortgage.

Yeah. I'm in the mood to watch anime again. Been awhile since I've completed another series. Anyways, right now I'm watching Death Note which is an awesome anime. I'm also looking for a non-sucky fantasy anime that sort of plays out like an RPG adventure game. Any ideas? Hmmmmmmm...

Getting through the Econ crisis
I have a dude coming here in the morning and there's a chance he'll buy my s2000. After he pays and I have verified the funds and sign over the pinkslip that's all I have to do besides fill out the change of liability form.

How is insurance handled? Is he covered under mine until he calls to add the car to his? I'd assume that I call my insurance company and tell them the car was sold and they pay me back some prorated amount?

Do I take my insurance card and registration out of the car after selling it too?

Mini San Francisco Meet Pics
So last Saturday I went with Dev to San Francisco to meet up with Ramoth and Hito so we could be Japanese for one day. Yeah, yeah.. pretty lame. I know.

Spoiler:

We took the bart into the city because I hate driving around there and dealing with the assholes on the road. I also made a super short video while we were riding the bart rail system.

YouTube Video

Once there we walked to the town square area or whatever. That was when I actually started taking pictures. I had to take a few pictures of this heart that was painted by some furry. It was kinda cool:

Once we met up with Hito we started walking towards Japan town since Ramoth wasn't answering his iPhone when we called him. The first place Devo took us to was here:

One hour later when she came out with hito (while I was waiting outside) we continued towards Japan town. I took random pics as we were walking...

Then we finally made it to the mall. Ramoth woke up and told us he would be on his way. I took some pictures and a video while inside. Most of the stores did not allow cameras inside since asians are weird like that or else I would have taken pictures of a lot of cool imported products they were selling.

Fake Osaka Castle. I saw the real deal of course last year:

I read this as FUK U SUSHI:

WTF Japan:

Okay I'll jump right on that:

KAWAII

YouTube Video

Ramoth eventually made it and we went out to eat at some Japanese food place called Mifune:

I ordered a beer while we were waiting. The waitress and waiter were assholes to us so we kept joking about them hating gaijin even though technically they're the gaijin for moving into our country.

I ordered the tori udon lunch combo. Shit was good:

Devo copied me but got a different side:

I didn't get a picture of what Ramoth and Hito were eating. Shortly after eating we chilled at the bookstore for a bit. There were these two fat weaboo girls there drooling over the Japanese and making comments like "oh my gawd. This place is daaangeroous for your wallet~"

Yeah, whatever cow. I almost bought this but managed to hold back. Devo bought it for Ed though so I got to look through it on the ride back:

Then we left the mall and walked around outside.

LOL@ trying to teach Americans Japanese:

Besides that, there was a lot of Korean text all over the buildings too in Japan town which we made fun of. I had to leave early though because it was also a close friend's birthday.

Just for surviving this entry of weaboo I will show you a bonus video I recorded while drunk of Rod (for those who know him) failing to take all of his shots:

YouTube Video

I should have taken more pictures and videos. I was just feeling lazy.

Dealing with CA traffic can be harsh sometimes.
Sorry. This is kind of a venting entry.

So look at me. A hard working American who works and goes to school. Currently I work about 25 minutes away from Sacramento in a small boring town named Dixon. It's a decent job. As long as I work 30 hours a week I get to keep the benefits of a full time employee (full medical/dental/vision, paid vacations, sick days, etc) so I probably won't find any better. The only downside to this is the commute and the problem is 90% of the freaking population here also commutes on the same highway. What this means is 1-2 days out of the 5 business days I have to deal with shitty traffic.

Recently this has been damaging my ability to be on time. For example, a truck flips over on the opposite side of the freeway and my side comes to a COMPLETE HALT on a Friday morning when thousands of people are on their way to work stop so we can take turns checking out the accident that would otherwise not effect them. People start going crazy and driving in the shoulder lane which leads to that being a new stop and go lane too. A quick phone call to work and an hour and a half later I make it. Since the accident wasn't the bank's fault I had to take a loss of 1.5 labor hours.

Even the smallest accident or someone getting pulled over can cause the freeway to come to a stop and within minutes a 25 minute drive can turn into an hour plus. These busy highways only have 3 lanes and they are constantly packed. Today I was an hour late to class because for whatever reason traffic came to a complete stop. The funny thing was THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT! It was just overcrowded! I get a 1 hour window from the end of work to eat dinner and make it to class. I always check traffic before leaving and if its bad the alternate back roads share the same fate, thus leaving me with no choice but to sit on highway 80 parked with everyone else. At these times I just go through a drive-thru and eat on the way there. But even doing that I still manage to show up late due to these uncontrollable conditions.

Sadly there's no real alternative besides waking up earlier and checking ahead of time before heading to work so I don't risk losing an hour or two of pay. I would use public transportation but the only option would be a bus that would get stuck in the same traffic anyway. It would be so nice if we had a rail system that expanded outside of Sacramento to Davis and Dixon but with CA in its current state that won't probably happen anytime soon.

Some people ask why I seem grumpy sometimes and I think it's because I'm constantly under pressure. But in the end, if I keep doing as well as I'm doing now and deal with these issues my good results will lead to a very happy future.

My iphone is starting to feel like a smartphone now.
I installed the leaked 3.0 GM release and then applied a modified ipcc file to it to unlock the mms and tethering abilities after reading an engadget article about it. Tethering via bluetooth and USB on my laptop was successful. Finally, a way to tether without jail breaking your phone. The native tethering abilities are just as easy as the apple dude described.

It's like always having a wireless connection in my pocket. I don't even have to pull the phone out. It's a damn shame that AT&T won't offer it for a long time even though it works perfectly fine now. I am a bit worried about using it though because they could terminate my account. However, there are other people that have been tethering for months with jailbroken phones too. Maybe I'll just see what happens to other people who follow this method and see if they get in trouble or not.

As for MMSing, they get stuck 90% through and fail and that's because AT&T has a block on them if you're on the iphone texting profile. Lame as hell.

Black people make XBLIVE fun.
I swear I ended up getting crammed in a group full of these hilarious black guys who would all talk shit to the other team constantly. Some of their comments were completely random and out of the blue. Like there was a girl on the other team and one of them told her, "After I blow yo head off imma slide my testicles across yo face, bitch," and they just went on and on.

I completely suck at the game and yet they insisted on keeping me because I'm a "tight nigga who uses a mic" or something.

My cousin is fucking lame
So one of my cousin's kids is about to turn 18 (she has 4 of them) and now SURPISE! she's pregnant again. Right as soon as she stops receiving checks for this one she has to make up for it. She works and her boyfriend who she had half of these kids with works and makes like 5,500 a month. Of course they won't get married for obvious reasons. so both their income plus welfare checks for 4 kids and you can see how happily they are living in their nice home.

How the fuck do they get away with this shit? No wonder I won't get anything for social security when I become old.

Classes for fall semester
I am overdoing it once again. I need to get these classes out of the way as fast as possible so I can transfer by summer of 2011.

Monday:
Work 11-5 PM
Math 110 - Geometry (5 Units) 6:30-8:50

Tuesday:
Work 10:30-4-30 PM
CHEM 300 - Beginning Chemistry (4 Units) 5:30-6:50 PM
CISP 301 - Algorithm Desgn Implementation (4 Units) 7:00 - 9:30PM

Wednesday:
Work 11-5 PM
Math 110 6:30-8:50 PM

Thursday:
Work 10:30-4:30 PM
CHEM 300 5:30-6:50 PM
CHEM 300 LAB 7:00PM-10:05PM

Friday:
Work 9:30-6:30

During week and weekend:
ENGWR 302 - Adv Comp & Critical Thinking ONLINE (3 Units)
Labwork for programming class

I am really considering holding off on the English course. I just need to complete this one to be done with the transfer requirements in English but I don't know how I'll find the time to write essays and do research papers. I need to start on my Chemistry classes now so I can get it out of the way and make more time for my more important programming classes. As for math, I should be in Trig by now but they changed the rules this year to where you have to waste a semester taking Geometry instead of taking trig after Intermediate Algebra. 2 years of Japanese basically kills most of the humanities section of the transfer requirements so I don't have to take stupid Psychology classes.

I really wish I could cut my hours a bit more at work but it's hard with a mortgage stuck to your name. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a home if you are a full time student. I will just have to work on my homework at work when it's dead, which is about 60% of the time anyway.

Need research help
So I'm working on a research paper for my English class that's due in 14 days. I pretty much know how I'm going to write it up but my teacher is being annoying and wants us to use at least 6 sources. 2 may come from the internet (easy) but the other 4 must be from articles published at that time. The year I am researching is the year I was born: 1985

The topic of course is technology. I have my three subjects, one of them being the launch of the NES, but I couldn't find jack shit at the library. I used the microfilms to look at NYT from October 1985 and couldn't find any articles on it. I'm guessing maybe it isn't popular when it launched? I also couldn't find any articles on the launch of windows 1.0

So this is what I want to ask you guys. Do you know of any magazines or newspapers that would have covered technology in those times? The staff at the library weren't very helpful. I need to narrow down my options so I can find articles faster. It costs me 5 dollars an hour to park so I can't waste too much time looking unless I like paying tons of money.

It would be even better if there was a way to see these magazines over the net if they are archived somewhere.

Best weather ever.
God it is a nice sunny day here in Sacramento California. I'm actually wearing shorts and went out to enjoy it for a bit. Plus spring break starts the 3rd of April and I'm taking a week off from work as well. It looks like I don't really have any set plans at the moment though. I was hoping Kai would come to visit but his military duties won't allow him to during that time.

On another note, I received an extra copy of Platinum from a kind person but I already own the game. Since they lost the receipt I can't return the game. I tried returning it to the wal-mart I bought it from but my box edition that came with a DS case and figure has a different sku from the standard version of the game. So I'm probably just going to sell the extra copy and use the money to buy something I don't have.

If you want a new sealed copy of the game and don't mind paying shipping I will send it to you. I wouldn't mind doing international shipping either since I don't think the game is available outside America and Asia. Just let me know if you're interested. It is a fantastic game and probably one of the deepest handheld RPGs ever created.

I drank to much tonight.
After a stressful week full of busy work, midterm exams, and tons of homework assigned by my bitcjh ass techers I decided to drink myself to the point of vomiting and then drinking straight liquor out of the bottle to relieve all that stress that I managed to conquer throughout this billshit week.. Fuck those challenges I beat them and I am anticipating spring break since I wont have to go to that hellhole at work and assist some whiny dumbass in mapping their printer or writing some compare and contrast essay for English.

Not looking forward to tomorroes hangover. @_@

And yeah I'm stupid for making a drunk entry full of typos. But you know what rot in hell because I had fun tonight bitch.

Showing a foreigner around San Francisco next week
One of my language exchange friends on the internet is coming to the US for the very first time in his life. He's coming with a group of fellow college students to visit huge IT companies like Apple and Google. During their week stay here they only get one day to themselves to actually experience American culture. Since I only live an hour and a half away from San Francisco I decided to meet up with him and show him around. After all, he is in a new country and will probably feel lost.

So now I wonder... what should I show to him? I'll probably pass on places like China town and Japan town since they are infested with Eastern Asian cultures. I'll probably start with the Piers (especially pier 39). Outside those places, I'm not too familiar with anything else since I always go to the piers or Japan town when I'm in the city.

Female drivers.
Why do they drive as if they are the only driver on the road?

Heading to a Burger King drive-thru some woman was speeding through the parking lot making sudden turns without even looking around and watching for other cars. She might as well have been driving with a blindfold on.

Fuck this cold.
I swear... this cold has been dragging me down all week. I actually went through my full day without calling into work or ditching class. Then again, missing one day of class only results in heavy punishment. I have some sort of test or quiz every day in one of my classes and if I happen to miss then I can't get credit for any homework due that day or make up that quiz. So in the end, I hope all of my co-workers and classmates catch what I have. That'll show them! I guess I'm lucky I caught it this week because next week is mid-terms. =x

Anyways, instead of my usual beer after a long hard day of work and school I think I'm about to have my shot of nyquil, watch a House season 3 DVD (thnx netflix) and get some shut-eye.

About my lack of activity
I must apologize for my lack of activity lately. I knew this was going to happen once I decided to go back to school. With just a lame associates degree I learned that I am still very limited in what I can do so I am going through proper college this time (not through a private expensive tech school with nontransferable credits) with the hopes of transferring to a UC. So far I am managing well since I made highest honors (3.7 GPA wth 28 Units) while working over 30 hours a week in a busy IT department of a bank.

By the time I get home I am usually worn out and don't really feel like being on a computer so I might spend that time playing an RPG or having a good time on Gears with my pals.

Once I start my programming classes I hope that I'll develop some skills that allow me to help out both on VGMDB and GFF but for now I need to focus on keeping a good GPA and work so I can pay my mortgage. (Yes, I am a full time student and property owner in the state of California during a recession...long story) It can be pretty stressful at times but I tend to keep my chin up and make the best of it.

To cover some of these costs I am making sacrifices. I make fewer video game purchases a month. I stopped buying expensive VGM. I am also going to sell my S2000 this summer in preparation for the high tuition costs involved with going to a UC. I will still keep responsibility of the server cost but I hope to find new methods of decreasing the monthly costs to make it more manageable. Inviting SD on here is a good start!

I wonder why I still have a facebook account
Now that I've added people from work and from school my news feed is always full of pointless crap.

Every Friday it gets spammed with the same generic "It's Friday. I can't wait for the weekend", "Its friday I'm looking forward to the weekend."

Every Sunday its the same deal. "The weekend went by too fast. *so and so* is not looking forward to Monday"

It's even more annoying when throughout the week the same people post that they are going to work or getting off work and looking forward to shopping.

And then what really kills me is when the same people respond to eachother with the same responses constantly.

"lol yeah im glad its fr1day 2"

I usually only make a news posting thing when something rare happens. Otherwise, I don't see the point in announcing that I am heading to work every freaking day.

Maybe this is why I don't have a girlfriend. I can't stand pointless chatter and make no effort to listen or respond to it. The only reason I respond to it at work is because I have to be nice to do my job. So when people call and ask me if I'm glad it's Friday I don't say "Yeah. I'm glad just like I was glad the other 10 times you asked. Who wouldn't be glad?"

The only real enjoyment I get out of it is constantly poking Temari.

You get assigned like 500 problems to solve a week even though you usually get how to do it after completing the first 10.

And to think I have to take up to Calculus 3 for my major. :dies:

What a long fucking day
Holy shit. This has got to be one of the worst weeks I've had in awhile. So my spring semester began last week and I've attended all my classes. I had a math class every Monday and Wednesday. The class itself was somewhat full but the instructor was positive he could add everyone. So a week and 3 in-class days pass. The 3rd day (yesterday) he decided that maybe adding everyone would become a huge workload for him so he kicked like 60% of the waitlist out of the class. I was one of them. Since he told us so late that gives us 4 days to find another similar math 100 class. (to meet the registration deadline)

So I ended up calling 2 professors and emailing 3 others while making trips to other classes and try to enroll. I also waited around for a later class so I could see if I could enroll. Class was way too full. Then today comes. My last chance was this 7:30PM Tuesday and Thursday class or I delay my transfer to the UC another semester and just take 7 units instead of 12. The only catch is this class is held on another campus 30 minutes across the city. So I drive all the way there after Japanese 412. Thankfully the professor listened to my story and give me an add code. I sat through the class and made it home at 10:40.

So by enrolling in this I have completely KILLED my Tuesdays and Thursdays. I think what I am doing is as CRAAAAAAAZY as Redd's prices. Check it out.

Tuesday/Thursday Schedule:
8:15AM Wake up
8:50AM Commute to work
9:30AM Arrive at work
3:30PM leave work commute back to city\head to SCC Campus
4:15PM Arrive at campus and walk like a mile from the overcrowded parking lot to the RHS building
4:30PM Intermediate Japanese Class
6:30PM Class ends. Walk BACK to my car.
6:45PM drive to ARC campus
7:10PM arrive. Grab some dinner from one of the fast food joints
7:35 Walk from another parking lot like half a mile to the classroom
7:45PM Math class until...
10:05PM Walk back to my car and drive home
10:30PM WAHOO! Day is completed. Now I can go to bed and head back to work tomorrow. m(-.-)m

The only good thing out of this is now I only have work on Mondays and Wednesdays. I guess I could use that time to work on my online College Composition ENGWR300 course. I can deal with it for 16 more weeks I guess!

My internet has been fucked for the last few days. Apparently its a Sacramento Comcast thing. Lost packets, slow webpage loads, speeds are all over the freaking place. I can't stay connect to irc, aim, xblive, or msn. 90% of the time it is unusable. So all I can do is wait it out. This morning it seems slightly better. Animal Crossing Wii is so expensive -_-
Man, for a game that's a port of a handheld game that was a port of of a Gamecube game that was ported from a N64 game it is still sold at full price instead of a discounted 20-30 dollar price... but then again, who are we kidding? This is Nintendo we're talking about here. Their only focus nowadays is producing garbage waggle games and advanced weight boards for the non-gamer and swimming in mountains of money.

Still, my furry instinct is telling me how much I need to go buy this game. I keep telling myself "Ok, I've got a giftcard for Christmas so it isn't like I'm giving Nintendo my money for putting no effort into making their big holiday title" but on the other hand this could go towards a new game on a next gen console. Only problem is there isn't really another game I want coming out in the next 4 months until Star Ocean 4 graces our shores.

Ugh... I can't resist.

The other day I discovered that there's a Japanese supermart down the street from my college campus. Since I had some time to waste before my last final today I went shopping. They have everything imported straight from Japan. Some of it is pricey though but they also have specials on candy and drinks where you can get it for a dollar. I bought a few snacks from them (including some milktea which I already drank)

Next time I'm gonna go for some green tea icecream. :3

I wish it would snow here. :(
The only way for me to see snow is by paying a visit to the mountain. It hasn't snowed where I live in a long long time. It would be awesome if I stepped outside to head for work one day and could just drive onto a huge pile of snow.

Semester is finally over. Shit seemed to drag on forever. Got an A in math and that silly financial class I took (to meet GE requirements) as well as a B in my English Writing class and I think I got a B in Intermediate Japanese 411. Not bad considering all the units these classes were worth on top of working 34 hours a week. If I couldn't do homework at work I don't know how I would have done it otherwise.

I am definitely going to spend this next month off reviewing all the new vocab and kanji I learned in 411 because forgot a lot of it already and don't want to start out behind in 412.

OH AND WHO PUT ACERBANDIT IN MY AVATAR SPACE!?

General anaesthesia
This is one of my biggest fears and the main reason I haven't had my wisdom teeth removed yet. My bottom two wisdom teeth are impacted and unable to come out so in order to get them removed I need to see an oral surgeon. Of course a procedure like this is one that they can't just numb you for. I'm just kinda freaked out by the idea of getting hooked up to an IV and them feeding medication into my bloodstream that completely shuts me down. They also feed breathing tubes down your nose since you can't even breathe by yourself.

I know it's safe and the anesthesiologist's main job is to monitor your heart rate and breathing but I'm still terrified by the whole thing.

I've heard there's a lighter version of this you can opt for called "twilight anesthesia". While it supposedly kinda works the same way it doesn't make you unconscious, but instead sedates you. You don't need a breathing tube for it either. It usually makes you relaxed enough to fall asleep. Anyone ever experience it? I might see if I can have it as an alternative.

I hope I get a good raise soon.
I've been with this company for almost two years now. Since then I've won the Best Technical Assistance Award twice in a row, learned a lot to the point where I could do my boss' job (which I basically do when she's on vacation), and have become very popular within the company (all 250 or so employees know my name and who I am). Despite all that I've only made 40 cents more from since I've started. Minimum wage has also went up like a 1.25 since I started working here.

Does it normally take this long to get some sort of reasonable raise in an office environment like this? I have another review coming up next month but I have a feeling it'll be just another measly 40 cents or something.

I am halfway to 100% now. Since I started playing Gears of War 2 online I've been doing a lot of trash talking and starting fights during the 20 second chat session the game gives you at the end of the match. It's even better when my teammates help me trash talk after a victory but they don't always do that. (sup Kairyu)

I love XBOX Live. All I have to do is say "garbage" at the end of a match to get everyone worked up. So easy!

Need help on learning second language
I'm on my second year of learning Japanese and all has been well but after today's exam I realized that I'm starting to forget a lot of last year's vocab. At this point we've probably learned nearly 1000 Japanese vocabulary words. It's pretty bad during a test when they ask you to translate English sentences to Japanese and you can't remember some of the Japanese verbs. adjectives, and nouns.

So obviously I need to start reviewing old vocab words and kanji since I need to know the old stuff as well as learning the new stuff. Does anyone have good advice on the most efficient way to do so? I mean, I can't sit there and read/write all the kanji and vocab words from lesson 1 to 16 every day as that is too time consuming. When you learned a second language what did you do to remember vocabulary? =\

Chinese substitute for Japanese class.
Our teacher is out for about a month and a half since she is having a baby. I swear... everyone seems to be popping out babies these days. As a substitute, we have this Chinese lady who can speak like every language in the freaking world. Anyways, she moved to Japan during her High School years and graduated from college there and has taught at Japanese Universities for over 10 years so I'm sure she knows her stuff. Anyways, she said this is her first time in the US and that she is still enduring the culture shock. We're her first "American" classroom and I could tell the poor lady was really nervous about it.

I felt kinda bad for her because even though this is a college course, we still have half the class who acts like high schoolers for whatever reason. This is an intermediate Japanese class and yet they aren't taking it seriously anymore with the substitute here. I heard a lot of talking and whispering while she was trying to give us lecture and there were a few points when I wanted to stand up and tell them to shut the hell up because our teacher was too scared to say anything and was trying to talk over their voices. It was pretty distracting too.

One thing I don't like about her is the way she writes her kanji. She writes it really fast and sometimes it's hard to read for a native English speaker who isn't familiar with the characters at all. Anyways, I hope she adjusts to our class soon so it makes it easier for her to teach us.

There was a furry driving in front of me this morning.
I was on my way to work this morning when I stopped behind him at a red light. He was driving a black Toyota Prius. His license plate said "Furry PPL" and had multicolored paws around the border of it. He also had a "VOTE NO ON PROP 8" sticker above it. Does anyone else find this amusing?

In my college composition course we were going over ways to make effective sentences. My teacher handed out this paper with examples of bad sentences and had us improve them. 90% of the sentences came from Sarah Palin.

I have a skit to perform on Wednesday. I will memorize my lines this weekend. Luckily, my partner was kind enough to create the script so this saves me a lot of trouble. :3

Gah I hate writing class.
My text essay topic is tied to the presidential debate. Since I don't have a strong political background (I never pay attention to that stuff) I am stuck on coming up with a good thesis. Here is what the essay requirements are:

Quote:
Comparison/Contrast Essay

Watch the presidential debate and write an essay that compares or contrasts Senators McCain and Obama. Consider what the content of their arguments and/or their debating styles reveal about them.

The thesis must have a central focus that proves something compelling.
I've only watched half of last week's debate in class. I should watch the rest of it and the upcoming debate tomorrow. Once I have a thesis down and an essay map made I should be good to do. The thesis must contain the three subtopics as well.

Things haven't been going all that well for me lately. I've been overwhelmed with homework to do. I need to create a Japanese skit, memorize it, write this essay, create a cash flow diagram for my financing class, complete a chapter in my math class (probably about 350 math problems to complete), read through chapter 7 of my finance textbook and answer questions, complete some Japanese study worksheets, and study for midterms. I have to complete them by mid next week. It's hard to work on stuff during the week since I basically go from work to school. I'll try to do as much as I can at work if it's slow and then finish the rest over the weekend. The weekend after better be more relaxing. >=(

Next semester I think I'll limit myself to 12 units instead of 15. I want to finish my general ed classes as quick as possible but taking too many at once while working 32 hours a week really wears you down.

Upgraded to 3G
I finally upgraded my iphone to the 3G version. After dealing with the shit that is the edge network for so long I figured it would be worth it to upgrade. Before I didn't think it was worth it since only huge cities even supported 3G. However, over time a pretty huge chunk of CA has been upgraded to support it. I can go anywhere except for country roads and get the nicer 3G speeds.

I get fewer dropped calls, faster browsing speeds, and the sound quality is much clearer when talking to someone on a landline or cellphone with a 3G connection. When I go to Japan again my phone will also be able to pick up a signal(not that I would wanna USE it considering how expensive it is roaming). My original iphone received no service since Japan doesn't fuck with ancient GSM technology.

Unfortunately, most of the country isn't blessed with 3G coverage like we have here in California. It's sad to see our country fall behind when it comes to cellular mobile telecommunications. I guess it is a bit more difficult when a country is as big as this.

Super procrastinator~
I have some math homework and 4 sheets of Japanese homework and 20 kanji flash cards along with a worksheet to complete today. What am I doing now? Watching House. My friends got me into this show and I like hospital dramas. Dr. House is also a dick but quite hilarious.

I was supposed to finish this earlier but I ended up playing brawl for a few hours. Thanks Icy! You aren't helping.

Damn Jury Duty
I never thought taking 15 units worth of classes and working 32 hours a week would wear you down so freaking much. I've been handling it rather well except for the past week. My boss at work got stuck with jury duty on a trial that could last up to 10 or more days. Since she's out of the office they've needed me to cover her full time hours. So now I've been working closer to 40 hours a week since last Tuesday. I got a 13/20 on my Japanese test last Thursday which only means I'm not getting enough study time in.

I'll keep at it and try my best to make it through these tough weeks. =) Once her jury duty sessions end I'll be back to normal.

Ence lied
Ence told me that smoking a hookah is not as bad as smoking cigarettes. However, this tells me otherwise:

Quote:
Although many believe that the water in the hookah filters out all the "bad stuff" in the tobacco smoke, this isn't true. According to a World Health Organization advisory, a typical one-hour session of hookah smoking exposes the user to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette. Even after passing through water, tobacco smoke still contains high levels of toxic compounds, including carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens). Hookah smoking also delivers significant levels of nicotine — the addictive substance in tobacco.
Luckily I rarely smoke from a hookah anyways. We do it maybe once a month and it's more of a social thing than anything. At this point I'm considering never doing it again if what I'm reading about it is true.

New schedule keeps me busy.
Since last week I have started my new schedule with school and work. I am currently taking 14 units and working 32 hours a week.

Monday:
9:30AM-3:30PM Work
4:30PM-6:30PM Intermediate Japanese
7:00PM-9:10PM Math

Tuesday:
11:00AM-5:00PM Work
7:30PM-8:50PM College Writing

Wednesday:
9:30AM-3:30PM Work
4:30PM-6:30PM Intermediate Japanese
7:00PM-9:10PM: Math

Thursday:
10:45AM-4:45PM Work
5:30PM-6:50PM Financing Class

Friday:
9:30AM-6:30PM Work

My business elective course is only one day a week so Tuesday there's no class. However, there's a chapter assignment to complete online through the web. I also wake up an hour before work in order to shower and commute (work is about 25 minutes from where I live now) and it takes between 25-45 minutes to commute back to Sacramento for school depending on the traffic level that day.

Despite the hour cut I took for work this still makes for a very long day. Especially Mondays and Wednesdays in which I leave home at 8:50 in the morning and make it home around 9:30PM. I hope I can keep the motivation to work such a busy schedule. I need to get all these general education requirements out of the way as soon as I can.

I'm still not sure what I want to do for my major. I can't start any computer science courses for at least another two semesters since I don't meet the required math level. However, by the time I do meet the requirements I'll have two years of Japanese behind my back. At that point should I just go another two years of Japanese and major in that while maybe taking a programming class on the side or should I completely focus on CS and wait another 4 years to get the Computer Science degree. Since my trip to Japan I've been thinking more about going all the way with Japanese and getting a BA instead of minoring in it since I loved the country so much but I also want to learn how to program. Ah.... choices choices...

Getting over jetlag.
This has been a real pain for me thus far. Since I have returned from Japan my sleeping schedule has been completely bonkers. Here is how it has been so far:

Friday:
Returned home this day. Landed at 10:45AM and managed to stay awake up until 3:30PM. My mission was to stay up until 10 at least but I was too tired.

Slept from 3:30PM to 10:30PM

I ended up feeling more energized at this point and got some chores out of the way.

Saturday:
Slept from 3:30AM to 11:45AM. Not at a bad time to wake up at I guess. It's a little late in the day but I'm still adjusting to the pacific time zone. From here on I'm awake for the rest of today and stay up past midnight.

Sunday:
Friends finally go home at 3:00AM in the morning. I fell asleep around 3:30 AM and wake up at 3:00PM. How they hell did I oversleep so badly? I guess 3:00PM is like 7AM Japan time. =\ Tomorrow I go back to work and start school so I set my alarm for 7:30 AM tomorrow and pass out at 11:55PM

Today:
And here I am wide awake at 3:00AM in the morning. I could not fall back asleep at this point so I am on my laptop typing this entry.

I might find myself resorting to some sleeping drugs at this point. I considered calling in sick but I was hoping going back to my work schedule and school schedule would help me adjust better. We'll see...

Day 7 up to the return home - Japan was freaking awesome.
Response to: Day 5 and 6 - Japan continues to be awesome by Kairyu

Well, here we go. Another few episodes on our adventures in Japan crammed into one entry. On Monday we decided to head out to Kyoto to visit the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrines which had fox statues all over the price. It ended up being a long hike for us in which we managed to take a detour and get lost.

Spoiler:

This is the beginning of a long trip which took much longer than
expected.

Just a bunch of photos around the entrance area.

Another tanuki statue. Kairyu had to take a picture of it since he's
obsessed with these statues and their oversized nutsacks.

Here is one of many fox statues we will see.

Needs more fox.

We both decided to pose for a quick picture before tackling this loooooooooooong path.

Map of long path.

More pictures of the pathway. These gate tunnels are absolutely
amazing.

After the first set of tunnels there were charms and other little things you could buy. These are wooden fox faces that visitors could write their name and draw a face on the fox before hanging it up here for others to see. We bought a few charms which I'll show and explain later.

Just a bunch of more pictures that were taken as we climbed this monster. We must have passed over a 100 foxes by now.

Lots of cats along the road. They're used to people and don't run at first sight.

This was a photo taken off a side path we took. You would get a really nice view of the city from up here.

This is from the JR station. The circle shows where we took the picture before this one. Yeah, we were pretty high up.

On the way back down we took a detour which led us off the path into a forest area with a dirt path. After a long walk we randomly ended up far off into a residential area (which was literally a maze). Some old guy who could speak English came up to us and offered his help. He asked what temple we're looking for and I showed him a picture off my camera. He gave us instructions on how to find our way out and after walking into a few dead ends we found the school he was talking about. From there we used a map to get to the JR station which was another stop away from where we originally got off.

These are the charms we bought. They each have different meanings. I bought one for safe travel while driving, one which should help me find true love, and another for something else (I don't remember at the moment). Kairyu bought a bell and a charm for smooth traveling and good luck. His smooth traveling failed at first since we managed to get lost on the trail. It worked later on though when we had to race the train system back to Narita.

All in all, the trip here was well worth it. I did get two foot blisters though which made the next day a bitch. After that we made ANOTHER trip to the Pokemon Center in Osaka since Kairyu loves wasting time to buy more Pokemon crap. It was worth it though because after he blew more money we got to try out a MOS Burger which had fantastic food. They even played American music inside.

http://www.mos.co.jp/english/

And here's a 5 minute video of the path we were on:

YouTube Video

On Tuesday we went to Himeji Castle. It was about an hour train ride on the special rapid from Shin-Osaka to Himeji. The trip was fun but a bit painful for me since I had foot blisters on my right foot. Once we arrived it didn't hurt as much since the excitement of being in a huge Japanese Castle made me forget about the pain. More pictures inside:

Spoiler:

Just some shots outside the entrance.

Some distance shots of the castle. Won't be long before we're actually inside.

MAP SHOTS! Pretty cool~

More outside shots. Pretty soon it starts pouring rain as soon as we enter the west side. Before you enter you are required to take off your shoes and wear sandals. They gave us larger ones since Americans have big feet. The big ones they gave me were actually too big and easily fell off my feet when going up the steep stairways.

Some shots inside the castle. You can see how they attacked their enemies through these little holes.

Just a few more shots of the inside.

After that we made our way towards the center main part of the castle. Once there, it was the same thing again with the no shoes allowed rule. The main area was a tower with steep stairs to climb. Inside there were plenty of weapons and other things to look at, along with a nice view up top.

And these are some photos from the inside and 2 photos from the view you get at the top of the tower.

And a few other random photos.

Great castle overall. It had a much more authentic feel than Osaka Castle did just because they didn't completely transform the inside of the castle into some museum. Anyone who visits Japan needs to see this place.

On Wednesday we decided to explore the nerd area of Osaka. We went to Nipponbashi and visited Den Den Town which had a ton of electronic stores and Video Game stores. Some of them had 6 floors of video games, video game music, anime, anime music, and hentai. One store that really stuck out was this retro store which carried old obscure Japanese games ranging from Mother NES carts to Neo Geo games. The floor was covered with retro game screenshots and the store was playing retro music along with TVs playing random retro games. It was like gamers heaven. We were saying that people like Colonel Skills would bust a nut 10 times straight just from setting on step into the store. It was fucking AWESOME.

On the second floor they had a whole area of US imported games and of course a bunch of old obscure video game music. Kairyu and I probably spent a good half hour just browsing the VGM section alone. However, most of the stuff there was out of print and expensive. Kairyu bought one album while I waited for another video game store with new stuff to spend my money on.

This is a picture of the stuff we bought that day:

On Thursday we spent most of our day on trains riding back to Tokyo. We had a hotel room arranged in Narita, Tokyo right next to the airport in order to save money since our JR pass is no longer active on our last day and its expensive to travel back and forth from central Tokyo. After checking in we decided that we needed to at least visit Akihabara just once. The last Narita express train rain at 8:03 and it was already almost 6 PM by the time we hopped on a train back to Tokyo. We made it to Akihabara and spent a good hour exploring the area. Once again we found an awesome electronics store with a HUGE floor dedicated to just video game stuff. Kairyu bought some stuff while I passed since I was running low on yen. Then we rushed like madmen back to Tokyo itself since we only had 15 minutes to catch our train. Since we mastered the JR system at this point we managed to run back and make it on time. That charm Kairyu bought came in handy.

Last day was pretty boring and depressing. After waking up we checked out and pretty much hung out at the airport and a bit of Narita while waiting for our flights. Then we said our goodbyes and took the ride back home. I honestly didn't wanna leave. The experience I had in Japan was amazing and I enjoyed every bit of the trip. My only regret is that we didn't get a chance to make more friends. We were mostly busy with sightseeing and buying stuff. Next time I come back I hope my Japanese will be better and that I can do more social things like visiting the English speaking bars and socializing more with the Japanese locals. We only exchanged emails with one of our Japanese roommates in the hostel. I'm hoping I can get cheaper tickets next year for another trip back because just after one day being back home I already feel down from not being in Japan anymore. I'm jetlagged as hell too.

I'm trying not to miss it too much and view this more as an opportunity to improve my Japanese in class so I can have better communication skills when I return. This trip has definitely increased my motivation to study the language a lot more. Even Kairyu was saying he wants to brush up on his Japanese before he returns.

Day 3 and 4 - Japan is still pretty awesome
Guess it's time for another update on this trip. Yesterday we spent plenty of time trying to find our way around Shibuya, Tokyo. After riding a Pokemon themed train on Wednesday which had nothing but Pokemon advertisements and a screen constantly playing the Pokemon Movie trailer we decided to see the movie. Only problem was that we didn't know how movie theaters work here. In the US you generally have 1 movie theater in the city you live in which plays all the current movies. In Japan you have like 5 or 6 spread around and each one plays one - three movies each. We ended up walking to each one in the heat trying to figure out where it was playing and finally 5 theaters later we decide to ask someone. Figures it's in the only theater we didn't check.

It was interesting seeing a movie in a Japanese theater. Once you buy a ticket and enter the room where it's shown they have an area where you can buy merchandise for movie playing (Pokemon stuff in this case), popcorn, soda, and beer. That's right! Beer for a Pokemon movie. The movie itself was alright. It wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on and even though it was in Japanese I was catching some of the speech and could tell what they were saying from their expressions. The movie had too much cute and not enough Pokemon battles. If you had the DS game you could download content in the movie theater.

Here are some pictures we took throughout the day:

Spoiler:

Cat Statue outside a shop close to our hotel. I had to take a picture of it because it was super cute.

Picture of our room and me on the laptop.

The bathroom is pretty small. It also has one of those toilers that squirt water in your ass. I didn't try it though.

JR Rail picture. It gets super packed and super busy later on.

Hey isn't that the tiger that teaches you how to use the toilet?

These are some pictures of Shibuya that were taken while we were walking around. Not pictures is the Taito Station we came across which had like 5 floors of shopping center and an arcade in the basement. After we visited there we tried out Japanese style McDonalds. The food actually tasted better than the US McDonalds. They do give you less fries and a much smaller drink.

This is a Sega arcade we came across. We hung out here for a bit while waiting for the movie to start.

Some Japanese vending machines. These are VERY COMMON and your best friend. Especially when its freaking hot.

Movie posters at the theater. We kinda wanna see the Ghibli movie too. We might in Osaka.

Stuff I bought from the Tokyo Pokemon Center. I also have a picture of our dinner which was a shrimp pizza but I'll upload it later when it gets transfered.

Check out the youtube video below to see how busy Shibuya became after we left the movie.

YouTube Video

And then there's today. Today was mostly us transfering from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka. We checked out of our hotel after eating some all-you-can-eat breakfast for I think it was 1300 yen. After stuffing ourselves full we packed our things and left for the JR Station. From there we rode the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka. Shit was fast. Scenery was beautiful on the way there and Kairyu was playing his DS the whole time instead of enjoying it like a n00b. After we arrived we semi checked in to the youth hostel and then went out to explore Osaka. We found a temple and pretty much walked around for a bit before returning back and fully checking in. The hostel check in time is after 4PM.

Here are some pictures from today. My battery life is running low so I'll mostly copy and paste without detailed descriptions:

Spoiler:

More to come later.

Roommate effort failed.
Such a bummer. I was so close to having my little brother and his girlfriend move in next weekend since they're going to school as well but my little brother is a tightwad and suddenly changed his mind because he doesn't wanna have to fork out 250 a month (his girlfriend would pay 250 as well) just to stay here. Keep in mind that where he's staying now is about a 35-40 minute daily drive compared to me being only 5 minutes from their school. So in a way they'll each be paying close to that in GAS and mileage to come back and forth 5 days a week anyway. Well, whatever.

This really screws it up for me because I NEED a roommate at this point. Going part time means I need the extra rent money to survive long term here. I think I'll be ok for a bit but I really need to get a roommate hopefully within the next 3 or 4 months. All of my friends get to continue living at home with their parents and have no intention of getting out and living on their own. And some of them are older than ME! This also messes things up for me because they wont be living here to watch my cats for me. Now I gotta find a cat-sitter since I'll be gone for too long in Japan.

Too bad no GFFers would be interested in moving to California. I have one internet friend who is moving here this month except he's moving to LA. =\ At this point I'm asking just 450-500 and that covers utilities and everything. Not a bad deal considering apartments cost well over 900 a month for a single bedroom not including utilities. Plus I live in the city meaning tons of job opportunity.

This has been such an eventful month.
My manager didn't want me to leave so she talked to our CIO (Chief Information Officer) about letting me work part time even though my position is strictly full. Instead of sending me off and finding a replacement they decided that they can't get rid of me and suddenly want to fully support me going back to school. They are completely working around my school schedule, giving me 30 hours a week, still letting me keep my FULL BENEFITS (medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, paid personal days, paid sick days, 401k, and many others), said I can study and do homework during work hours when its slow, and are still letting me take two paid weeks off for my trip to Japan. With my checking account being all screwed up due to multiple plane ticket charges this really cheered me up quite a bit and just relieved me from a ton of pressure from finding another job that will work with me and my school hours.

For a second I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to pay the server bill (especially since donations have come to a complete halt for a few months now) but I think I'll be ok. My little brother and his girlfriend are also moving in before I go so that's rent to help pay the bills and someone to take care of the cats for me while I'm away.

Life is treating me good. Now I just need a girlfriend and I'm set. xD

My checking account is like -3000 dollars right now.
All due to five charges to my debit card by United Airlines for like 1184 each. I wonder how the fuck that happened. Ate up my whole paycheck too. Funny how Kairyu's bank issues have passed on to me except 10 times worse.

Going to call the bank tomorrow in the morning to clear this up. Shit aint cool.

Shit's official. Furpile in Japan looooool
(since everyone always refers to internet meets with me as furpiles )

After a 2 month delay I'm officially meeting Kairyu in Japan from August 11th (will be 12th when we get there) to the 22nd. That's right... tickets GET! Somehow all of his delays scored us cheaper tickets. Still need to reserve a hotel room for our stay in Tokyo where hopefully Kairyu won't blow all his money in the Pokemon center. There we'll get all the shopping and exploring out of the way before heading on the JRAIL to Osaka. My teacher also has a friend who lives in tokyo that she'll call up and have meet with us if I want so we won't be totally lost. I'll ask her about that in class tonight. Osaka will serve as a central hub while we explore different temples in nearby towns and what not and experience Japanese culture and take billions of pictures.

Fuck I am super excited right now.Too bad Peter isn't still staying in Japan anymore. I heard Temari wants to come. However, お金がありません。 :3333

How to pull a miles.
You visit the gym and decide to try out some of the machines there. You read the safety instructions in front of your fucking face and then proceed to use the machine as the instructions say. 3 seconds later you pull a muscle in your leg and back and lay on the floor in pain for 10 minutes.

Maybe I'll stick to cardio. xD

So exhausted
My current avatar perfectly shows how I've felt all week. It's been busier than usual. Had to move all the electronic equipment from one office to another and hook it up myself. Had to make another trip around the world today just to move one PC. Had to deal with a billion phone calls with the server issues. It just seemed like problem after problem occurred. With all the changes happening within the bank I've been pretty busy. With class on top of that I haven't had any time to hang out or relax and play video games.

Tonight was a nice break though. Got to see the batman movie with my friends. Was pretty damn awesome.

Tomorrow I gotta wake up earlier to help my sister empty out a storage. Looks like I'll never get a break this week!

I applied for a part time job working for the state. They work completely around your work schedule which would be helpful to me. I don't wanna take 12+ units but have to slave for the bank 40 hours a week. Since they don't care to let me work part time I'll be saying goodbye as soon someone else will. That's just how it works. =p

Going to sleep now... locking the cats out so they don't keep me awake by attacking my feet. o_@

Japanese people say thank you a lot.
So in class today my Japanese teacher scheduled lab time to teach everyone how to type in Japanese. She also shared some useful websites. Anyways, she asked me to create simple instructions on how to install Japanese fonts and keyboard on the computer and how to download jdrama .avi's from a website for listening comprehension practice. So today I came to class with a 5 page document with detailed instructions on how to do it. I also told her she can give these to future students as well.

So throughout the whole time in class she would randomly stop talking to bow to me and say JERAMI-SAN, DOMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASHITA over and over again. It was kind of funny too. She keeps wanting to pay me for it and I keep telling her she doesn't have to give me anything for it and to count it as one of my independent study assignments. But she keeps insisting on paying me back somehow. She told me she and her husband would take me out to dinner or something to feed me if I wanted. XD

I actually have one of three thank you emails as well. Yes, she sent me thank you emails. XDDD

I am really happy and lucky that I have you in my class.
What can I do for you?????
Tell me the things I can do.
Except buying a house, car, or a ticket to Japan ne.
Thank you very much again.

I bet you spent so much time for this.
I will pay you back!
Thank you.
See you in the class.
Oh... fun times! Maybe she'll buy me a studio Ghibli DVD. :3

She also told me that she has a friend who lives in Tokyo that we could meet up with when we go. That way we won't get lost on our first day. I sure wouldn't mind a tour from a native Japanese person, or assistance with things like getting yen from the bank or mailing pokemon toys home at the post office.

Best Downloadable Game Ever

For 15 bucks. And the visuals are actually better looking than Ratchet and Clank Future. Sure, it's only 4-5 hours long but who the hell cares for 15 dollars. I say people try it out and if they like it they go buy the previous release because it's one of the best PS3 games. :3

Japan and culture shock.
Oh man. So I was looking at the website of the hostel we will probably stay at in Osaka and they have a public bath room.

http://www.osaka-yha.com/shin-osaka/.../yh08bath.html

All for both sexes to share. The whole thought of showering with other people scares me since I've never done it before. I always shower in the privacy of my own bathroom. And even when you shower in the place like a gym, you still have shower curtains. According to those pictures you don't. You could be showering next to some hot girl and trying to keep from staring. The way the Japanese do it is they use the showerhead first to clean themselves off, then they sit in the bath and relax. Ugh, no thanks. I would shower with my bathing suit on and the skip the bath part.

Luckily I learned that the restrooms actually have a private shower in them as well that I could use. So I guess I'm safe. That's one culture change I'd rather not experience.

My cat has returned
I'm so relieved! She, as an inside cat, managed to survive the construction, heat, and horrors of the outside world for a whole week. My friends spotted her outside from the balcony randomly while playing a board game. Apparently she found her way back home. Anyways, they all ran outside like maniacs and scared her off into one of the buildings that are still being worked on. So we all proceed to explore these with flashlights. After our failed attempt she showed up yet again and this time my friend rod managed to chase her into a bush and grab her.

She was pretty dirty and a little beat up. Both her front paws were cut and bleeding for who knows how long. She also has a fever and was shivering We took her to an emergency vet to have her checked out. She didn't need stitches and she's only sick with a fever. Otherwise she's fine. My friend Alexa helped me bathe her and now she's purring and happy to be back home. Poor cat. All this happened after 1AM.

So getting her a collar with her name and my phone number on it in case this ever happens again.

My cat is missing.
Somehow after the fourth of July party Patches turned up missing. I can't find her and she wasn't anywhere to be seen since that night. I'm beginning to think that maybe she somehow went outside as people were leaving and no one noticed. This seems unlikely though. She's terrified of the outside world.

I looked in every possible area of my home in case she got stuck again (she did get stuck under my couch one time) but it ended in failure. She doesn't have a collar but she is microchipped with my address data within it. I just hope someone picks her up so she doesn't starve.

So this Friday my home is being invaded by GFFers.
So Paco, Frank, and possibly hito and a few other people might be visiting me this Friday since it's a holiday and I have it off work. Hopefully I won't get tentacle raped or robbed by these fools.

Nah, I doubt it. They're probably more afraid of me since I'm apparently a furry (in THEIR eyes). I'll have to see what Stop Sign is up to. He might as well join in the fun too. I'll beat them all at Brawl and MKWii. =D

Everyone in Sacramento might as well be smoking.
Holy crap the last few days have been ugly outside. Today seems the worst of all. You can't even see the sun or anything. The air has been covered in smoke due to all the crazy fires. They're even cutting back on construction time on the new homes they're building in my community since the air isn't the healthiest to breathe right now.

After watching My Neighbor Totoro I remembered how awesome Studio Ghibli is and ended up buying some DVDs from amazon.com. Tonight I think I'll watch Pom Poko since I haven't seen it before. I haven't watched Nausicaa either but I heard it was good. I already own Howl's Moving Castle and I did own Spirited Away until I let sakabadger borrow it (I bet he still hasn't watched it yet). Pom Poko looks so :333333.

Sup Chevron

Chevron is usually expensive but the ARCO next to it actually cost 4 cents more. WTF is that shit? And after spending like 50 bucks to fill up my 12 gallon tank they had the nerve to ask me if I would like to add a premium car wash for an additional 7 bucks. Haven't you taken enough of my money already you bastards?

I find it strange that the freeways actually seem more packed with cars than usual. You'd think people would try to carpool at these prices, but NOOOOO. More people are driving their huge Lexus Luxury SUV's and shit. And I notice its only one person in it. Wasting more gas AND wasting more space on my highway when you could be driving a smaller car with better mileage. When it gets super congested during 5PM we all waste even more expensive gas as we all sit there moving 5 miles per hour a foot every five seconds. I'd carpool myself but I work a few cities away and then go directly back to school in Sacramento. This makes it complicated since the three other co-workers who live in Sacramento don't go to school anymore. They also have different work schedules than me.

Anyways, now that I'm done angsting about gas and ridiculous CA traffic I'll get on my other subject... the GYM! Spent about an hour after work doing some cardio stuff. I forget what the device was called but I burned like 650 calories in an hour on it. I probably only consumed about 1,700 calories today. Should I subtract that 650 from my total I consumed today and say I under ate? Like, is this healthy? Should I burn less than I did. Should I eat another sandwich even though I'm not hungry? I'm not really sure how it works.

I was listening to the SSBB soundtrack while working out. When Final Destination played I suddenly felt the urge to speed up quite a bit. Weird how that epic song pumps you up like that!

So after watching My Neighbor Totoro I tried to see if my teacher would show it in class. She actually has the DVD. Then I practiced my Japanese with her. I guess I've made decent progress in 9 months of study.

カイリューさんはお金がないから、私たち今月日本へ行きません。

Erm, yeah. That was probably failed Japanese (I hate their weird use of because) Anyways, we're not going to Japan this month after all since kairyu isn't ready yet. =p

I was so looking forward to going this coming weekend too. I guess we're going to delay our little trip until August 6th and even then I don't know if he'll secure the funds on time. Luckily my boss had no problem with me delaying my much needed vacation. It's gonna be hard to go another month and a half without a break from work considering the fact I haven't had a vacation in 8 months but I'm pretty sure the wait will be worth it.

If anyone is interested in going with us in August please let me know. I kind of doubt it though with the high cost involved.

I'm up to Act 4 of MGS4 now and I can easily say this game was worth the wait. Skills is definitely over exaggerating the amount of cut scenes this game has. Of the 24 hours I put in so far I've probably only watched about 3-4 hours of cutscenes. And even then they're so wonderfully done that you don't really mind watching them. I'm happy to report that the codec sequences aren't overly lengthy as they were in past MGS games. This game looks so goddamn amazing in 1080p via the HDMI cables. I can't get over it.

You know you're addicted to Mario Kart when...
You're driving in the middle lane next to a truck in the slow lane and you're thinking about using a mushroom to fly in front of it and then drifting into the upcoming exit before it is able to hit me and spin me out (though in reality I would really be killed). Oh man, I need to get this game out of my head for the rest of my work day.

So it's 6:38AM here in California.
And I only got like 6 hours of sleep due to KAIRYU IMing ME RIGHT AS I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO BED to talk about the awesomeness of Mario Kart. I'm going to be consuming a lot of coffee to stay awake today. Oh yes I am. .___. I will also be spending the next 9 hours enduring the pain of wanting to go home and play it.

Honestly, I'm so tempted to just stay home and finish the 100cc and 150cc AND the mirror cups all day. Who cares about work when you've got awesome games like Mario Kart today. At work I'm just gonna answer support calls, listen to someone's whiny voice complain about something, then then disconnect them from they're citrix session. By the way, Citrix is a piece of crap that I am really starting to hate at this point. I don't see why we can't just install all the programs locally. I know there's the fear of them saving confidential documents on their local PC involved but I could think of plenty of ways to prevent that and force them to save on the server drives.

Ok. Shower time.

So I'm going to Japan in June.
First time leaving the country too. I guess this is my version of a GFF meet except only one other person from Gamingforce is going too. That's Kairyu. There could be more but it's hard to find people who have the time or the money to visit a foreign country.

We'll probably go to Osaka on June 21st provided that Kairyu and my other friend can secure their funds for the trip on time. I took a weeks vacation during that time as well as using up all my personal days the following week after. Between that, the rail pass, and the hotel room, all this alone will cost between 2500-3000 dollars. And then I'll need to set aside money for food and Japanese stuff. There should be plenty for us to do there, whether it be wandering the streets of Osaka drunk or paying a visit to places like the kitsune shrines and temples. :3

I think I know everything I need to do in preparation. I'm just wondering how much extra cash I should bring. Is it best to just convert like 700 dollars to yen here and bring it with me or should I rely on my visa card and bring maybe only 300 dollars worth of yen? I'm worried that if I use my card a lot I'll get charged with a lot of random fees and lose money from when it's converted to yen.

So much for the three day weekend.
Tired
I spent the last 2 days sick with today being the worst. I think I got sick off of someone from that party on Friday night. Today I have a fever and spent a majority of the day in bed. If I'm up and about for too long I get dizzy and nauseous. Plus I have a runny nose and a bad cough. It's kind of disappointing if you ask me. I might call in to work tomorrow if this keeps up.

I have made good progress in Pokemon. Down to two badges to go and I finally have my Lucario. I also spent some of my 600 dollars on a brand new DS Lite. I dig the smaller size and the clearer screen. It sucks I have to rebuild my friend lists in all my games though.
