Payment? What payment? We've seen no payment! No, that money is uh.. |

Some of you may remember a previous entry, where I wrote:
Quote:
As for the boxed Zelda III I won a bid for, they reserved the payment from my account, but haven't actually cashed it yet, so the seller hasn't gotten the money even though I said it should be there by Monday. This puts me in an awkward position as I have no idea when exactly are they going to actually charge the money and after that it'll take a while for the game to get here, if it actually gets here safely ._. I just pray it'll go well, then I'll finally, finally have my own copy.

Yes well, they still haven't charged it. It's beyond ridiculous. I personally don't mind the wait, but my seller is getting a tad impatient and I know I'd feel pretty pissed if I ended up with a buyer that took ages to pay, even if it's not their fault.
What makes it so ridiculous is how this whole thing's stunk even since I made the payment. I used the Pay Now button on eBay and selected it so that my seller would get paid in british pounds. On the confirmation page, I was told I'd get a confirmation email about the payment, but after waiting for a while, I realized I wasn't getting any. I looked at my Paypal transaction history and there is no mention of the payment, whatsoever, as if I never made the payment. I was almost ready to make the payment again, when it occurred to me to check my own bank account and sure enough, there was a reservation made for €27.55.
Why was there no note of the payment in my transaction history? Why didn't I recieve any mention of it at all, when Paypal had obviously acknowledged it?
Being relieved they'd noticed it at all, I figured I'll get a note once the payment is charged or something. Figuring this would be pretty soon, I thought no more about it and informed my seller I'd made the payment and that while it hadn't been charged yet, it should arrive soon enough.
And so it had been four days and the seller informs me she hasn't recieved any payment. I look at my account and sure enough, there's the reservation and it's not been charged. I call up my bank and ask about the details and they say the amount has indeed been reserved by Paypal and they figured it'll take a few days for them to charge it.
Five days now, and no sign of any change. I haven't explained the situation to my seller yet as I was hoping it would get solved by now or I'd at least get some decent information about it, but no. The bank really can't do anything else about it, it's something on Paypal's end.
So I start looking through Paypal's Help section for any info on how long it usually takes to charge an amount from someone's debit card. Naturally, not a single mention of it. I found a zillion explanations about how Paypal is free and how they accept Credit or Debit card, how you'll be charged an expanded use fee, all of which I already know and all of which don't help me in the least.
That's just it, they charged the Expanded Use fee from my account in two days, so I know they can charge money. So why is this taking so long? Why is there no mention of it at all?
Finally I am able to find a section in Help that actually allows me to type and send a question to the company instead of just looking through pages and pages of allegedly "frequently asked questions".
It's infuriating contacting a company or service like this in text because you have to be so very, very careful about how you explain yourself. If you don't explain your situation in exquisite detail, especially the stuff you already know and don't need explanation on, the reply will focus on those exclusively.
I know for a fact if I were to simply ask why my debit card hasn't been charged, I'd get a two page advert about Paypal and an explanation that some banks won't allow the use of debit cards so Paypal can't use them and that I should check with my bank.
Or if I were to explain I haven't recieved any mention of the payment, they'll tell me I've probably used the wrong email or something else similar, probably provide me with another link on a subject I don't need help with.
So I tried to explain my situation the best as I can. I put emphasis on the fact that they've already charged me the Expanded Use fee, meaning they CAN charge my bank and that my Paypal account type is Premier instead of just Personal.
I put emphasis on that they already reserved the amount from my bank account so they've obviously acknowledged it. I was informed I will be contacted by email shortly, but I've yet to recieve any notice. I know the email is correct, since I've been able to recieve donations from people like Skills and Kaleb. My guess is they'll still try to claim it's something on my end and that I've messed up my settings or account information somehow.
On another note, I also noticed my total amount of money on my paypal is magically missing 3 cents since the last time I looked. Why, I have absolutely no idea, maybe they decided to change the exchange rate or something, but considering how much they emphasize that it's absolutely free, that's kinda uncomfortable.
I guess I'll wait for a reply until the evening and then explain the situation to my seller and ask her to have a little more patience. Either way, if this gets worse, I won't even be able file a proper complaint since I won't have a case ID for the payment since, tah dah, there is no mention of it in my transaction history.
*grumble grumble*
I'm never gonna get my Zelda III at this rate ;_;
EDIT:
[13:27:00] <Boo-kun> do you really need to write a insanely long rant cuz something like that Ô_t
