Things and stuff and presents and materials!
Hello.

Here are photos of stuff I got for my bday or have bought recently. It's only a few weeks late!

Birthday stuff. A lovely Tintin T-shirt (now I have three <3), a new cell phone (my old one was only 4 years old), a really cool Moomin wall calendar for for 2008, plus a full set of Moomin postcards (that I will never ever send and will just keep them safe for admiring) from my aunt. And my other aunt got my second watch repaired, so now I have something to pick from. Still using my grey Leijona most of the time, though.

More birthday stuff and some games I bought. Both seasons of Green Wing and the final Special. I've gotten to the end of season 2 now, with only the Special left. It's basically the single funniest and most awesomestest show in the last decade or so and I'm completely in love with Caroline Todd. Can't wait to see how it all ends

Also bought a number of games, finally found a copy of Mystic Heroes for GC. I've never seen it sold over here. Same for Blood Money for Xbox. I've seen the PS2 and 360 versions about and discounted, but this was the first time I found this version. I played a few chapters already and it's great fun. The range of freedom and choice is wonderful, I'd always felt the previous Hitman games were either way too hard or too limiting. Galleon (had to take one back and replaced as it was scratched to hell), Full Spectrum Warrior is still fantastic (even though I have the PC version) and Twin Caliber was so cheap, I figured I'd finally give it a try.

Other than watching Green Wing, I replayed Halo on Legendary and am currently going through Broken Sword 3 on Xbox. Love it <3 Especially since I installed it to HDD, so the constant load times are far shorter and less annoying.

Better go to work now, I want to be home on time to watch the finale for Green Wing~

About The Simpsons Movie
I saw it Sunday and loved it. I haven't watched the show for years and years, so/yet I enjoyed it a lot. Very funny, very fun. What more could you ask. And not just the spider-pig bit.

Hi Skills (Reasons to love my job #6759)
Look what I got today~

Consider it an artbook made to look like a notebook in use.

Looots of these.

Haven't checked the press disc, but it's probably photos and some usual PR crap about how amazing and revolutionary an online multiplayer war game is.

Still, love the book <3

What a nice thing to find on your chair when you arrive to work today~

Can't quite see the lovely silvery rough surface, but it's neat.
It's basically a modest artbook with commentary and info and some interviews near the end. Not a big book but hey, who am I to complain <3

I've still not that much interest for the game, but I might try the European version when it comes out and I get a promo. The PAL version is said to be much improved on load times, visuals and some other aspects, apparently. Good stuff~

Currently Playing: Ulf Liedberg: Biohazard

So the whole family gathered around again to celebrate birthdays (my brother's and mine). Much good eating and fine weather followed.

MY DELICIOUS PIES, LET ME SHOW THEM TO YOU

My aunt~

An awesome photo of my brother paused in thought while my mother and Ida fuss over the baby <3

The cake was pretty awesome too.

My nephew was adorable as always.

A RARE PHOTO OF ME.

Another awesome shot of my brother.. doing.. something odd with his cake again.

And then we ate the cake.

And mom took another rare photo of me.

I will post photos of what I got as presents, soon as I manage to get proper photos of them. There was a Moomin 2008 wall calendar and a new cellphone involved, though.

Currently Playing: Dan Le Sac, Scroobius Pip: Thou Shalt Always Kill

FUCKING KNOCK IT OFF
I realize there's been annoying animated flash adverts for games at game sites for years now and they've always been patronizing and annoying, but holy hell the amount of stupid.

The side panels that constantly move and loop that annoying "whipped this up on MX in 3 mins" animation with one of those stupid slogans (He's ready to FACE the WORLD. ARE YOU?) and blurry footage? Yeah, those are awful and can only come from an american mind.

It's not quite there, but you have to wonder who they're targeting with this stuff. I follow a link to see some Bioshock footage and there are not one, but TWO flash adverts for Project Sylpheed, on the same god damn page. WHY

Obviously the adverts are probably randomised, but jesus christ, the very idea to have multiple flash adverts is revolting enough, and they always load FAR earlier than the actual text or other content you're actually there to read.

Yeah, I know what you're about to say. The game obviously doesn't have enough presence on the page, which is why I'm reacting like this. So I decided to fix the page for Team Xbox to fit the current level of business.

Spoiler:

:10bux:

I went to town to buy a birthday present for my brother (double celebration tomorrow) and ended up buying him another Cure album. Hopefully I haven't already gotten him Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.

I also bought myself the 2-DVD Trading Places for cheap. Now I finally have my own copy.

Things! And things and things! And things!
So I turned 24 around 22 minutes ago. ::insert Jack Bauer going OUENDAAAAAN::

It was a relatively peaceful day at work, apart from a few Casino Royale whiners (the whole campaign to hand them out was a gigantic fiasco or then people are just being greedy douches).

Got a nice card from my aunt (a moomin card naturally) and a lot of candy from my parents. Mom also got me a book where a british man had collected a number of disasterous uses of english language in signs, posts, etc around the world. Japan and China have the best ones, naturally. My favorites being "The crane will attack your car" from a sign at a spanish dock, and "PLEASE WASTE", found on a japanese trashcan.

Before going to work, I went to pick up a play-asia order of mine from customs, where it'd gotten stuck. It was a disaster of its own. I forgot the card they'd sent me, the pack didn't include a receipt, so I had to run to a local library to print my invoice AND they didn't accept Visa Electron so I had to run outside to an ATM. The added tax I had to pay does grate a little, but the games were still a lot cheaper than what they would have been had I bought them here. I mean a brand new PAL Jet Set Radio for 5 euro? Yes, please.

Clockwise from top right: Jet Set Radio, Giftpia, Phoenix Wright 2 and a jap Earth Defence Force 2.

I got a few text messages today from friends and my brother. The rest of the greetings and presents are probably coming on Saturday when we celebrate both my brother's and my birthdays.

Thanks to Infernal for an awesome birthday thread ='D <3 <3

It was like something was broken about him
So today some teenager called the hotline asking for codes for a game I couldn't make out. At first I couldn't even be sure he was finnish in the first place or that he WAS in fact trying to ask for codes.

No matter how many times he muttered the name out, I couldn't for the life of me understand what the name was. He talked like half of his mouth was asleep AND his english pronounciation must have been awful to boot. I managed to find out it was an action game for the PS2 and that it was released in 2000. I asked him to spell the name out, letter by letter, two times, and I still couldn't understand him. It was like talking to an alien.

The second time, I started confirming each letter with a matching word, just so I heard him right, and by the end of it, I had written down E-N-C-O-D-B-N-O-O. I started going through it again with him and by the time I got to C, he started saying that there was something before "it". And that something did not sound like a letter, but an entire word. I literally said "I'm sorry, I still can't understand what word you're trying to say" and at that point he hung up.

I wanted to lol and cry at the same time. I felt ashamed and a failure as a helpline worker, and I felt terrible worry for the kid and this country. It wasn't the first time I've had trouble understanding a sloppily talking caller's english pronounciations on the phone, but before I've always managed to fill the blanks and guess what game they meant.

In other news, I finished Halo again and have been playing Ouendan on the bus a lot lately.

So seeing Gocoo perform was completely amazing
A two hour concert with a shortish break inbetween, it was worth every penny. I've always liked drumming, but this was much more than just beat or visual performance. The flow and power were just incredible.

They were selling the CD and DVD there, but when the concert ended, they'd sold out the DVD, unfortunately. I would have loved to buy that. The CD not so much as while the music is great, seeing their faces and movement is such a huge part of the experience (I even had binoculars with me), I don't think a CD would quite do it so well.

I guess I can always try ordering it from their site if I want. I'm mostly disappointed I didn't have my camera with me. I left it at home thinking they'd check our bags and confiscate it or something, but no one checked anything. I would have loved to have my camera with me since members of the group walked around the reception area after the show so it would have been great getting a few photos of them.

Still, an amazing experience. Fantastic sound and beat, stunning technical performance (though the verdict is out on some of the lighting), and what could be sexier than a pretty japanese woman banging on a large drum with an excited smile on her face (much less seven of them)? =o

All you lucky germans out there, go see them, they're coming there next. GO SEE THEM.

Minasan, please come back next year too ;_; <3
